The main Rubi Whipple website is down and we're currently working on bringing it back up, but it might take a bit to do so.
In the meantime, I'm going to be posting a backup copy of the comic on Tumblr here: @rubiwhipple
The first chapter is up and I think I'm going to schedule the rest of the pages to go up one at a time daily until I catch up. If you haven't read the comic before, it's a good time to catch up this way! :D

Drew some Rubi Whipple fan art cause I’ve been meaning to for ages and I finally got to meet @starline in person. Pretty good motivation. Been a fan of hers since Candi so it’s a long time coming.

(Okay so something funky is definitely happening with the color when I upload these but oh well. Also I suck at backgrounds, which is why I have the first one there transparent too ugh sorry.)
PSA: You should go read Rubi Whipple and buy it if you can. It’s about a witch who goes around breaking people's curses because she herself is cursed so that anyone she romantically loves runs away from her. Couple things:
First of all, love the premise, but I was afraid that would mean she wouldn’t have anyone, and I was soooo relieved to know she can love her friends. Marie is adorable and I love her. It might be all the blue.
Second, imagine if an aromantic person inherited this soul (the curse is on the soul, so anyone the soul reincarnates into, as I understand it, gets hexed), they might never even know they were cursed pff
Third, I wonder if someone will fall in love with Rubi. Imagine someone tryna woo her, and her dodging bc nothing can come of it and bein’ sad about it. Ah, now I’m sad about it.
Anyway, in the first thing I made Rubi a fangirl, so she’s watching the We Stayed Late podcast on YT, and she’s wearing WSL leggings from their FHP store, and Star’s shirt from her store. The leggings especially felt right, what with the hair and the WSL colors, and the heart on the shirt is perf for someone with a love curse. And the second one I drew bc I haven’t seen the sea in years and this is 10000% what I would do if I had a magical broom, I’d just find the nearest sea and touch it.

Typical customer interaction in Whipple’s graverobbing business
Client: ...and then after all that, the old fart decides to get buried with his magic sword! He promised me that goddamn sword!
Whipple: Okay.
Client: And then he went and got his tomb super cursed because he knew how much I wanted that sword. They’re really good curses too. I barely got out alive!
Whipple: Uh huh.
Client: And because he spent all his money on those stupid fancy curses I didn’t inherit squat. What a waste, right?
Whipple: So if you didn’t inherit any money, how are you going to pay me for getting the sword for you?
Client: I mean, I have money. I’ll pay you. I just want the stupid sword.

DAY 20: Literature
Before the arrival of Europeans, Anishinaabe people used a pictorial system to write on birchbark as mnemonic devices to tell (hi)stories and to send messages. Since the early 1800s (if not earlier) Anishinaabe people have also used European-introduced alphabets to write in English, French, and Anishinaabemowin. In addition, in northern Ontario and further west, there is a syllabics system used to write Anishinaabemowin. Though European/Canadian/American scholars claim it was created by a missionary in the 1840s, Anishinaabe and Cree people have their own origin stories which remember it as being given to a man named Calling Badger by the spirits.
Since the 1800s, there have been many many Anishinaabe writers, mostly in English. Some early writers include George Henry/Maungwudaus (1807-1851), Peter Jones (1802-1856), Jane Johnston Schoolcraft (1800-1842), William Whipple Warren (1825-1853), and George Copway (1818-1869).
In the late 20th century, there was an explosion of Anishinaabe literature. Some authors include Louise Erdrich, Gerald Vizenor, Kim Blaeser, Winona LaDuke, Basil Johnston, Ruby Slipperjack, Nila northSun, Gwen Benaway, Carole laFavor, Richard Wagamese, Linda LeGarde Grover, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, and Drew Hayden Taylor.

Chapter 11 - Page 08 New Rubi Whipple Page is up! rubiwhipple.com Rubi’s not dead and I’m still working on it! It’s just taking a lot of time since life is super busy and running my art shops take priority because it helps pay the bills. Working on building a buffer so that I can update this site more consistently. However, if you don’t want to wait, and see the pages as soon as they are completed (again sporadically), those will be posted to my Patreon (link in bio)

Webcomics I read
Disclaimer: I know very little about many of these authors outside of comments on comics but in general the comics themselves are in the low-offense range, and many times you’ll find the characters learning better. All comics are SFW with the exception of Oglaf.
They’re not particularly in order but the ones near the top are my favourites
El Goonish Shive: fav webcomic probably of all time. I’ve been reading since 2002. Don’t worry about it setting off your “is this a fetish” radar from time to time because it’s perfectly sfw. The characters grow and Dan Shive is basically the master of foreshadowing things years in advance and melting your brain. #trans #furry #character development #life lessons #magic #high school #adventure #conspiracy #great plot
Manly Guys Doing Manly Things: It’s set in an every-video-game-ever kind of universe but modern-with-day-jobs style and it’s not as much about video games as it is about shenanigans from interesting characters and time traveling soldiers. #i can’t possibly describe this comic with tags
Grrl Power: don’t let the two “r”s fool you, this is a very well done, comedy-focused superheroine comic. #superheros #big ole tiddies #crass at times #military #global threats
Three Panel Soul: maybe it’s daily life but ultimately it’s like a pleasant existential crisis. #no cohsive plot #has mini comics in it #daily life #sometimes magic #Jo the red mage is my fave mini comic in here
Not A Villian: Oops the world ended and now we’re all trying to keep from going insane in virtual reality but there’s a surprising amount of rules and politics involved in virtual reality. #VR #adventure #puzzle #past-is-slowly-revealed style #different art style to represent different places in VR and reality #recovery #taking responsibility for mistakes
Sandra and Woo: A girl and her raccoon. The characters are really fun but the real gem about this comic is the contrast between the light and fun adventures of a middle school girl and harsh real-world issues. They play well together and the comic has a cohesive reality like many others don’t.  #adventure #animals #school #health issues #political issues #rare violence #good parenting
DMFA:  What plot? there’s no plot OH WAIT THERE’S BEEN PLOT ALL ALONG AND WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE #furry #magic #drama #adventure #battles
Awkward Zombie: Video game jokes comic. This was pretty popular back when brawl came out but still updates and you can still laugh at people having big ole’ gay crushes on solid snake. #video game #joke-a-day style
Sleepless Domain: Magical girls but there’s lots of mystery and intrigue. #magical girls #high school #drama #mystery #minor gore #death
Go Get a Roomie: largely started out with many lesbian jokes made by the resident lesbian but it’s mostly about growth, fear of change, trying to be the person you wanna be, ect. #gender #sexuality #daily life #bdsm
Two Kinds: It’s about racism and magic and regretting your past self. #furry #magic #amnesia #war #violence
SMBC: Daily, one shot nerd jokes. #joke-a-day style
XKCD: Does anyone not read this? I’m pretty certain it’s a pillar of nerd culture. #joke-a-day style #math jokes #obervations #a smidge of daily life #a smidge of surrealism
The Boy Who Fell: A kid’s in hell and now he has to fight his way out. #violence #gore #right-to-left #adeventure
Misfile: 2 people wake up today and have to learn how to cope with their new lives until divine intervention can fix it. I’ve been reading it for so long that I can’t say I’m so much invested in the plot as I am in the characters who just keep at it and that’s inspiring. #trans #cars #high school #angels #pencils
Chaos LIfe: Daily Life Jokes from the makers of Find Chaos but sadly neither update very much. Find Chaos is a story about dealing with monsters and the supernatural in modern society. It’s amazing. #violence #gore #death #sexuality #supernatural #mystery #monsters #horror
Charby the Vampiriate: I read this since the original release and It’s taking quite a while to catch up, but the remake is VERY well done and more cohesive and attention-holding. I used to read A BUNCH of Drunk Duck webcomics but most of the ones I liked ended up getting abandoned or went somewhere I personally found abhorrent but Charby always managed to be okay. #violence #gore #monsters #horror #mental health issues
Oglaf: NSFW! I’m not a fan of seeing sex and stuff but this is honestly just so fun and campy and bizarre that I’m constantly laughing. Here’s a SFW sample if you wanna know. #nsfw #sex #magic #fun #campy #weird
Rubi Whipple: Just started, so there’s not much to read. A witch in a modern setting has to deal with her curse. I liked the author’s other comic, Candi, so I’m just betting that I’ll enjoy this one two. #magic #curses
Two Guys and Guy: Just started updating again. A group of friends and their OVERWHELMING HATE life their daily life. #joke-a-day style.
The Salvation of Morrowind: It’s not updating but it’s an extremely fun morrowind-based comic that will confuse and amaze you. #wtf #furry #video Game #magic #elves #elder scrolls
The Gamer: Actually a korean manhwa, this is a link to where the english scans get uploaded. I’m basically obsessed with it so it gets an honorable mention. A man gets magical powers as if he were a game character and finds out about a dark magical world where the powers came from. #mystery #adventure #magic #video game #korean #martial arts #death #violence #evil

Spin Master Announces Expanded PAW Patrol Roll Patrol Road Tour for 2017
Spin Master Corp. (TSX: TOY), a leading global children’s entertainment company, announces the third annual PAW Patrol Roll Patrol Road Tour, a multi-city life-size activation that successfully blends the award-winning toy line with the top rated preschool property produced by Spin Master Entertainment and broadcast on Nickelodeon. Beginning July 28until its completion in October, the PAW Patrol Roll Patrol Road Tour will travel across North America allowing kids to connect with their favorite PAW Patrol characters through an immersive PAW Patrol-branded experience.
Each PAW Patrol Roll Patrol Tour stop is free to the public and will make stops at select Walmart, Toys“R”Us and Target retail locations in 13 different markets. Kids can explore the inside of the life-size PAW Patroller and meet their favorite PAW Patrol characters, as well as reenact their own rescue missions through an interactive play experience featuring the new Sea Patrol theme. Families can celebrate the experience with a memorable photo and limited edition giveaways.
“As we continue to build an evergreen property, there are multiple touchpoints when telling a story through a franchise such as PAW Patrol,” said Ben Gadbois, Spin Master’s Global President and COO. “There is a strong collaboration between our Entertainment team and Global Marketing team to ensure we’re connecting with children through positive and meaningful messages, and with the PAW Patrol Roll Patrol Tour we are physically bringing the magic to life.”
The life-size activation will also have a dedicated area showcasing Spin Master’s newest entertainment property, Rusty Rivets. Kids can combine, design and “rustify” inside Rusty’s life-size Rivet Lab and meet the heroes from the show – Rusty and Ruby. Alongside Rusty Rivets, kids can play with the squeezable sand you can’t put down, Kinetic Sand, and experience soaking surprises with Soggy Doggy, Spin Master’s newest launch in the games category.
