May 13, 2024 - Scimitar-billed Woodcreeper (Drymornis bridgesii) Found in parts of Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina, these woodcreepers live in woodlands and scrub. They eat arthropods, small vertebrates, and the eggs of reptiles and other birds, foraging on the ground as well as on trees and cactus alone, in pairs, and in small groups. Breeding from September to December, they nest in cavities in trees, palms, old Rufous Hornero nests, and human-made structures. Pairs line the cavities with leaves, bark, or wood chips and females lay clutches of three eggs. Both parents feed the chicks.

q!forever como um joão-de-barro
please consider: they may not be the fanciest bird around, but their main thing is that it builds a goddamn house out of clay instead of having some weak-ass nest made of sticks. they’re also fuckin EVERYWHERE in brazil (and in south america too). CHAD BIRD.
q!forever as an rufous hornero/q!forever como un alonsito
also theres the myth that the joão-de-barro locks the unfaithfull partner in the clay house until she dies so yeah hahaa totally not meaningful in any way

More Oc propaganda!!
Tumblr media
I love birds so much 🥺 and I was thinking about "what type of bird will represent my OC?" and The first one who cross my mind was "El Hornero"!
The Hornero (Rufous Hornero) is an endemic and common specie of bird in South America, present in regions like:
Argentina 🇦🇷
Brasil 🇧🇷
Uruguay 🇺🇾
Paraguay 🇵🇾
And Bolivia 🇧🇴
This bird builds its own nest! And it uses mud combined with materials such as plant fibers, manure and small stones to make something similar to a clay oven ("Horno de barro" in spanish, that's why it's called "Hornero")
They are normally monogamous and together they build their nest, it takes about a month depending on the availability of materials to finish it.

Fun facts!!
This bird is the National bird of Argentina 🇦🇷 and Uruguay 🇺🇾!
It has several legends and songs from the folklore of the South American people!
It has a well-known poem called "El Hornero" by Leopoldo Lugones.
The Hornero represents humility and simplicity, added to the work and effort of people from the countryside or low-income areas where it normally lives! It's a symbol of the working class.

Do you have a tf2 oc? Have you thought about what kind of bird he would have or would represent?
(Psst, if you are going to do it, use the #tf2birdoc, I would like to see what kind of birds they would have 👀)
(Y TE ESTOY MIRANDO A TI @robin374)
Well, that's all for now!! See you soon and have a nice day!! 🤗♥️♥️
