That, and she hated how it made her feel. "I have a ton of shit to take care of, and despite my fuck it attitude...I should finish it, or I won't pass this class."

Kate had pulled her aside sometime ago, confessing how much she liked her best friend and asked for any tips. At the time, Laurel rolled her eyes and just said good luck. Her and Jack had some blurry history, but that wasn't the reason she dismissed the girl. She just, frankly, didn't care much for helping others and their relationship dreams. But, with the yearly school trip coming up, she had a change of heart. Call it sympathy, guilt - whichever, but Laurel figured it was best for them to connect without her around. His brother had been right months ago when he told her to stay away. It was time she listened. "It's just a few days. I'll hunker down here, finish these papers. You can connect with nature on the camping trip, and tell me all about it when you get back. If Jake takes a fall, definitely tell me."

Emily stood on the other side of the door, her expression a mixture of relief and uncertainty. She knew coming here wasn't the wisest choice, but she needed someone to lean on, even if just for a moment. As Ches opened the door, his smirk and casual demeanor immediately put her at ease, despite the situation. A faint smile tugged at her lips as she met his gaze, the faint smell of cigarettes and beer mingling in the air. She stepped forward, accepting his unspoken invitation, finding solace in the familiarity of his embrace. Leaning into him, she sighed softly, the tension of the evening slowly dissipating. "Yeah, you could say that," she replied, her voice carrying a hint of exhaustion. "Mind if I crash here for a bit?" Emily didn't want to overstay her welcome or impose on Ches, but she couldn't bear the thought of facing her own empty apartment just yet, especially after all hell broke loose in there not long ago.

Scarlet was probably the only person to ever challenge Jason Rose and live. Though when people found out why it made sense. She had been spamming Jason making sure he was going to be at her concert in Vegas like he promised. She should have expected were Jason goes so does “the boys” as she called them Jason's closes friends. Though there was someone new she didn’t recognize. She knew everyone, Onyx and Seth both worked for her as her manager and bodyguard. Jumin was jason’s right hand. And she had known Sammy since before she could walk.

“Who’s the guy?” she asked sammy who just shook his head.

“His name is Brock, Jason has taken a liking to him. Leave him alone.” Sammy already knew by that smile what she was thinking.

"I wasn't going to do anything. I'm just gonna say hi."

“I don’t know the first thing about giving dating advice,” he prefaced, finally stepping away from tinkering with the vehicle in front of him. “But, I can with good authority say that they sound like a grade-A asshole. Why waste your energy on that person?” He scoffed and started to clean his fingers with a nearby rag. Though his statement felt wildly true, it wasn’t exactly rare for Devin to believe someone was a grade-A asshole. Nor was it entirely rare for him to believe there was someone out there better for his friend.

Juliette was coming home from a long day of meetings, ready to just kick off her shoes and relax. But as she was being dropped off by the cab, she saw the red flashing lights of the fire department outside of her apartment building and she groaned. After paying the fare, she gets out and heads towards the building. It didn’t look like there was any smoke, so she wasn’t too worried. Seeing a firefighter by the truck, she approaches. “Hey, is there a fire or did apartment 4F burn her dinner again? Because that’s the third time in the past two months,” she remarks.

"You actually showed," she blurted out as the front door swung open and it revealed Jake. Phoebe had seen the texts from him, one after the other. Something about coming over to talk, and a misunderstanding. All things she didn't care to hear. Her father was right, that thing about giving people trust. Phoebe hated that feeling, conceding that her father or her brothers were right. So, right now, she hated that Jake was, more or less, proving that right. "You're unbelievable. I thought I was pretty clear that I didn't want to see you. Go away."

❝ back again? ❞ layla asked as she casually strolled into the room, eyes falling to the other male that was sitting there. it was starting to become a normal thing to have him around, and she wasn't used to seeing new faces around the place. her boyfriend ran a pretty tight ship, not usually bringing in new talent, though she could see why. never knowing who might come and start spilling secrets. ❝ he must've taken a liking to you. ❞ the spoke, sitting herself down as she looked to him, a soft smile moving over her features, happy to have a new good looking face around.

Alejandro leaned back in the hot tub, letting the warm water soothe the tension in his muscles as he closed his eyes, relishing in the solitude. The storm raged outside, but in here, it was calm, peaceful even. He opened his eyes when he heard Annie's voice, her words breaking through the tranquility. Turning his head slightly, he regarded her with a raised eyebrow, noting the nervous energy that seemed to radiate from her. "Well, you're not alone now, are you?" he replied, his tone casual but with an underlying edge. He watched her carefully, taking in the way her fingers fidgeted with each other, a telltale sign of her discomfort. Alejandro reached for the jeans he threw on the ground before getting into the tub, and then into the jean's pocket, pulling out a joint with practiced ease. He lit it up, taking a long drag before exhaling a plume of smoke into the air. He watched Annie carefully, gauging her reaction as he held out the joint towards her, a silent invitation. "Want some?" he asked, his tone casual as if offering her a piece of candy. He knew her innocent personality well enough to understand that she likely wouldn't dare touch the stuff, but there was a mischievous glint in his eyes as he made the offer nonetheless. He took another drag, leaning back in the hot tub as he waited for her response, the warmth of the water and the haze of smoke enveloping them both. Deep down, he knew that if his brother found out about this little indulgence, he'd be in for an earful, maybe even worse. But in that moment, he didn't care. All he cared about was the here and now, and about some means to kill the boredome.

"you wanted to stay for how long?" hope said as she looked up from the paperwork she had to fill out for their new guest. usually it was just people passing through, that's the kind of town it was. people driving somewhere more exciting or somewhere for work but had to stop for the night. the man in front of her wanted to stay for an extended period and already piqued her interest. "are you sure? you didn't say one night, you said one week?" as she went to go grab a key, she scribbled down as much information as she could about the male since she still couldn't believe that he wanted to spend this long in a place like this. "if you don't mind me asking, are you here for work?" that could be the only logical reason, no one would ever vacation out here. "but i have you down for a whole week, want me to show you where your room is? the pool's open during the day, honestly you might have it all to yourself... if you ever want to leave early you can just let me know."
