Idk why people are suprised about Dan & Donna or Melissa (Pre HM) being loved. Fans here have been attaching onto small/background characters for ages. Fuck we LOVED Peter before he was known as Pete and was just "hot chocolate boy". People used to have Danny and Sof in fics all the time. People ship Gary Goldstein and Man in a Hurry. Before npmd, Cineplex Teen was imagined to be Pete's friend. And some people ship Dan & Donna and some people loved Melissa before HM, particularly ppl really mostly liked when all we had was just tgwdlm. That hasn't stopped either, currently people love Trevor, Ruldoph and Brooke. People just like small/background characters, probably because you kinda just make them whatever you want for the most part so there's so little known about them.

Seniors and sophomores aren't a big difference. Now I don't say this bc it's only 2/3 years difference, 3 years can big a difference when you're younger, and I think seniors dating freshman is weird. Like 17/18 Vs 14/15 are pretty different ages.

So anyway I decided to figure out everyone's ages in comparison to each other.

The timeline: tgwdlm takes place in fall 2018, black friday takes place on November 23rd 2018, nmts1 takes place in 2019, nmts2 takes place in summer 2020, and npmd takes place in fall 2020.

Tgwdlm: Alice is both said to be 17 and 18, she's a senior in high school. "now I get that Alice is 18, she's a senior" and "I'm fucking 17, at least I was before you left me" I think "at least I was before you left me" could imply that she was 17 when her parents got divorced, so I think her being 18 makes more sense, but it could be either. Danny and Sof could be any age in high school. I'll get to Deb.

Black Friday: Nick has said somewhere that Lex would be 18 in BF and that Ethan would be 19 (I can't actually remember if it's spefically said 19 or if it was said just that he's a little older. Or if it's actually spefically said that Lex is 18 either or just that she would be a senior in high school if not for being dropout, but 18 is a fair assumption for a senior). Also Hannah is 13.

Nmt1: Deb is said to be going to art school and at this point Alice has graduated school, since in tgwdlm Bill says "why don't you date someone at your own school?" we can assume Deb was also high schooler then, so she's the same age as Alice. So they're both 18 or 19 during Watcher World. Hannah is 14.

Nmt2: Steph calls herself and Pete "adults" so assuming Steph for sure knows Pete's age or isn't lying they're both 18. Grace is probably about the same age. Gabe's also probably the same age as Grace. Mary and Noah spefically say they're "only 18". Ziggs is gonna be about the same age as Alice & Deb, I'd say 20, Alice and Deb are also 20 at the point. Lex and Ethan would 20/21 at this point. Hannah is ofc 15 and a freshman in high school. Daniel is "no older than Hannah" and powers peak at 15 so he's probably 15, maybe 14. Sofia is said to be "maybe a year or two Hannah's senior" so she's 16 or 17, I'd say it's more likely she's 16.

Npmd: Grace, Steph, Pete, Max, Richie, Ruth, Jason, Kyle, Brenda and Stacy are all seniors so they're all 17 or 18, maybe 19. Going off abstinence camp I'd say Steph and Pete are both 18 but Steph also says "wake me up when you turn 18" this is obviously in contradiction to AC. They just meet recently in both scenarios so Steph could be just taking guess in both. The line If I Loved You could also just mean "you're not mature" rather than Pete actually isn't 18. So Pete could be 17 or 18 I'm not really sure. I don't think anyone else's ages are specifically stated? Brooke, Trevor, Ruldoph, Caitlyn and the other theatre kids could be any high school age.

So uh. Yeah. There you go. Now simply add or subtract a years if you need to figure out a character's age in a different year (like Steph would be 16 during tgwdlm & bf). Feel free to use this to figure out wether you think different ships are ok or now depending on their ages.

any ships between the guy/black friday teens and the npmd teens make me so uncomfortable for no reason whatsoever. genuinely idk why i think its the fact that the bf/guy teens would be seniors when the npmd cast were sophomores which is just so icky to me.... like. i think id be alright with them if they were all a few years older with the same age gap (once the npmd cast is a few years out of high school) but currently i get really grossed out thinking about them. even more confusingly ive got exactly one exception to this which is max/ziggy and i cannot for the life of me figure out why it doesnt make me uncomfortable. it just feels different for some reason
