Here’s my take on Max Jägerman - he is NOT the progressive bully that asks Pete’s pronouns before beating the shit out of him, what he IS is a dumbass.

For example he’ll overhear Caitlyn (Cool Kid™️ so he respects her) talking to Kyle about taking her estrogen and assume it’s a drug and ask for a hit. Kyle and Caitlyn, confused, explain that it’s a hormone girls devolop that guys don’t have to the same level, and Caitlyn obviously has less so takes supplemental doses. Max thinks this means Caitlyn has a medical condition and is like “Oh my god dude I’m so sorry you’re sick? Do you like go to the hospital? Nah I’m not trying to take anyone’s meds my bad bro,” and Caitlyn is too dumbfounded and also entertained to correct him.

Later, in the case that he does not fall and die, Max eventually apologizes to Richie for all the times he punched him in the balls. Richie goes “it’s chill - besides, I don’t even have balls, so it didn’t even hurt as much as you though”. Max is MORTIFIED with sympathy “You don’t have balls?? Oh my god dude how come?” Ruth without a beat says he lost them in a tragic accident many years ago and Max fully believes her. Richie goes along for the bit.

Even further along the line, Max asks about the trans flag on Richie’s bag and Richie explains it’s for people who were born the wrong gender and want to change. Max goes “Wait dude you want to be a girl? Shittt why didn’t you tell me?! Do you have a new name or something like that? Like…Richietta?”

The real progressive bullies, obviously, are pre-Max’s death Kyle and Jason, who apologize before beating someone up and then defend their pronouns in the same breath.

Welcome to the signups for the Hatchetfield High Yearbook Project

Rules:

Individual Character artists will pick the name (or only last name) for their character if their character doesn’t have one, and writers will go along with it for their articles/interviews. (unless an actor or the Langs reveal the canon names of a previously unnamed character during the process of this project)

All art and writing must be original, not AI-generated or made by anyone else (commission, picrew, etc.) 

All art and writing must be digital, it just looks more uniform. (If you need help digitalizing a traditional sketch, I can help with that!) 

Each artist will draw the characters in their piece as they normally draw them, I will clarify which characters are which along with crediting each artist in captions below the photo) 

No infighting, be respectful and agree to disagree in the discord server if an argument arises over fandom stuff. It’s not that big of a deal </3 (Note - If enough trouble is caused, you may be removed from the project and your piece may be replaced)

For now, the due date for all art and writing is March 20th. (Note: This is subject to change. If you are unable to submit your piece at the deadline, contact me, or one of the moderators if I am unreachable, as soon as possible)

A little bit about the Project:

It will be free, both to participate in and consume!

We'll have a discord server for project organization, with other general and fandom related channels for fun in the meantime.

When it is finished, I will roll it out as both a flipbook AND a slideshow, as the slide show will be of a higher/clearer quality than the flipbook program I use.

it will be modeled similarly to the Ride the Cyclone yearbook project, but without all the little info per character, as Hatchetfield High is a much bigger school than St. Cassian. There will still, however, be senior quotes!

For signature pages, everyone who participates will sign a transparent image with their name and/or a little quote/doodle, just like you would sign an actual yearbook in high school. Individual character artists will also sign a separate transparent image as their character, unless their character is an alumni, and I will arrange them on their own pages just like the signature pages of the Ride the Cyclone yearbook project linked above.

You may apply to be both an artist and a writer, but please tell me which you would prefer to be in the forms.

ruth is dating everyone. sorry about it they just are. and she is SO happy about it. her happiest moments are when they’re all on the couch together in some weird bear pile watching trashy TV, or in the car all squished together singing along to the radio. i also 100% believe ruth is the one who introduced the idea in the first place.

pete is dating steph, richie, and ruth. they’re constantly ganging up on him with affectionate teasing, but gush about how much they adore him to eachother. i also think pete prefers to have one-on-one time with everyone rather than always being altogether. + them and grace have more of a queerplatonic relationship, although she accompanies him on dates with steph frequently because….

steph is dating pete, grace, and ruth. they really like having group dates, experimenting with the different chemistry and affection between multiple pairings. shes such a variety is the spice of life girly. like, study dates with pete & grace vs the movies with ruth & pete vs ice cream with grace & ruth are all different, equally fulfilling feelings of love for her. and richie is just their bro honestly they are so platonic to me. there is not any less love there i just think they are the bestest buddies who share a boyfriend and girlfriends.

speaking of, richie is dating ruth, pete, and grace. OKAY HEAR ME OUT I KNOW RICHIE X GRACE IS A LITTLE UNUSUAL. BUT. i think richie likes grace’s intensity & passion and grace likes richie’s creativity and- let’s be real- submissive nature. at first they were not into eachother at all, no interest either way. but, as the group as a whole spent more time together, they found it easy to talk to one another, both blunt and a little awkward. plus come on the bible sounds like an insane anime story sometimes doesn’t it? ANYWAYS! him ruth and pete are kind of inseparable and he spends time w grace separately. i see it clearly.

finally, grace is dating steph, ruth, and richie. not surprisingly, it took some convincing to get her on board. not as much as you’d expect though. grace had been plagued by adoring thoughts about steph for a while, and felt extremely guilty about it since she was dating pete. when the idea was brought up, grace’s instinct was to shut it down, call it hedonistic or dirty. then as ruth explained further, the different types of love and ways to experience it in polyamorous relationships, something clicked for her. realizing how happy each of these people made her, how loved she felt by them. so, she went along with it. of course, it still took her a while to participate, she had to observe first. grace meticulously planned for a sit down with steph, to have a very serious conversation about her feelings. but before she built up the courage, steph casually asked her to go out to dinner. telling her to wear something nice with a flirty smile, she left grace a short-circuiting mess.

but, thanks to the group’s support and love as a whole, she’s become more comfortable with a wide spectrum of her emotions, attractions, and relationships. all of them have. they are good for eachother. really good.

p.s part 2 : this might be kinda ooc but im just having fun im imagining a world where they have semi normal lives and help each other emotionally mature and find happiness yay!!!)

Thinking about Ruth x Caitlyn where Ruth actually does get to act (Replacing Caitlyn because she's sick) and Caitlyn goes to watch the barbeque monologue anyways because she wants to see who replaced her. Ruth's really happy she finally gets to act, she's pretty anxious but she gets help from Miss Mulberry with her dialogues and everything goes fine (because I want it to).

In the end, Caitlyn goes looking for Ruth, when she sees Caitlyn she's ready to say "See, I was better than you!" But Caitlyn speaks first:

"Hey Ruth!! You were really good! You really did put a lot of heart into 'My Barbeque', I liked it"

Ruth blinks, wait what? She totally did not expect Caitlyn to say that, was she dreaming?

"Oh uh, thank you... I-I kind of practiced that speech every day..."

"Well, you did a great job! I think you should decrease your anxiety first, because it did not fit the character, honestly... But we'll work on that!"

Ruth smiled, her eyes sparkled and she's just too happy to believe that! She did a great job!? Oh God she must be dreaming.

"...I think I'm in love with you."

"Oh."

Anyways it's just a silly short fanfic, I'm sorry if Caitlyn is OOC, since we didn't get much of her, but I imagine Caitlyn as a pretty sweet hearted person! I hope you guys liked it (⁠人⁠*⁠´⁠∀⁠｀⁠)⁠｡⁠*ﾟ⁠+

okay i’ve decided caitlyn (mariah’s bbq character) is secretly really into ruth. bbq monologues is her second or third show, and she can’t get over how much of this ruth knows. how she has the whole thing memorized just for light cues. how impressive the lighting is. she likes hanging out in the tech booth during breaks and asking ruth about how it all works. unfortunately for ruth, she’s always in techie mode and annoyed that the actors are there distracting her since they usually go on a break so ruth can fix an issue. she is too scared of max to try and talk to ruth outside of rehearsals, since she’s a theatre kid and ruth’s a Nerd. but caitlyn has terrible straight girl energy, and ruth has no idea she’s into her. ruth thinks of her as the girl in the show who only ever talks to me when i’m really busy, and thinks she’s like making fun of her or trying to distract her on purpose so she’ll fuck up her cues. she complains to richie and pete about the hot girl who tries to screw with her board, when really caitlyn is just enamored with ruth and wants to hear her talk about how everything works. caitlyn’s also terrible with social cues so she doesn’t know ruth thinks it’s annoying, and ruth would never ask a person to stop talking to her that wasn’t causing her any bodily harm. so they’re kind of friends, except ruth is too socially anxious to start a convo and caitlyn is stifled by the “rules of interaction” and feels like she can’t very often, so.

brooke is linda’s daughter (hear me out. blonde, played by lauren, has a water-themed name?)

she’s sort of part of the popular rich circle due to her family, but her troublemaker tendencies end her up in detention a LOT

richie and trevor are siblings, but trevor, hans and brooke are all juniors in the events of npmd

brooke is in the smoke club

trevor and caitlyn are constantly getting into theatre kid drama

the two have been repeatedly cast as love interests despite a. both being hella gay and b. despising each other (in good fun ofc)

but that’s just the general queer high school theatre experience lmao

all of them are insanely petty but in different ways

they all pretend to hate each other and bicker all the time

but would definitely fight anyone who tries to hurt one of them

due to hans not actually being from hatchetfield, he’s the only one of them seemingly able to realise when the town is kinda fucked up

trevor is a massive musical enjoyer, which makes it very funny when he finds out his uncle is paul matthews, local resident musical hater™️

trevor only found out that richie died shortly before homecoming — he dyes part of his hair blue to match richie’s afterwards

the gang used to have routine sessions where they would explore haunted houses and empty buildings, but after finding out about the deaths in npmd they end up staying away from those sort of places

movie nights and impulsive grocery runs at 3am are equally as chaotic anyway.
