Viking rune ring - 99$
★Material: High Quality Solid 960 Sterling Silver★
Weight: approx. 17 g (0,59 oz)
Viking axe from Mammen.
In 1868 a farmer began to dig into the mound Bjerringhøj at Mammen near Viborg. During this work he chanced upon an unusually richly-furnished grave, which has become known as the grave from Mammen. A magnate was buried in the grave during the winter of 970-71 AD. He was given an expensive costume, a ceremonial axe with inlaid silver decoration and a large wax candle.
On one side a tree motif can be seen. It may symbolise the Christian Tree of Life or the pagan tree Yggdrasil. On the other side is an animal figure – perhaps the rooster Gullinkambi (Old Norse “golden comb”) or the Phoenix. According to Norse mythology Gullinkambi sits on top of the tree Yggdrasil. Here it wakes the Viking warriors every morning and it will crow at the beginning of Ragnarok (the end of the world).
Accompanying Odin on his journeys are Hugin and Munin, two ravens of unparalleled wisdom and perceptiveness. These enigmatic birds, ever watchful, serve as his eyes and ears across the vast expanse of creation. Through their keen senses, they observe and gather knowledge, whispering their secrets into Odin's ear, enlightening him on the happenings of the world.
The pursuit of wisdom led Odin to make a great sacrifice. One of his eyes, willingly surrendered, granted him unparalleled insight into the workings of the universe. It became a conduit for divine knowledge, an ever-vigilant beacon of enlightenment that reminded him of the depths he had plumbed to attain his unparalleled wisdom.
In the rich tapestry of Norse mythology, Odin's presence looms large, embodying the duality of strength and sagacity, of war and poetry, sacrifice and enlightenment. His multifaceted nature reflects the complexity of human existence and the eternal quest for divine understanding. Across the ages, Odin's legend endures, inspiring generations to seek knowledge, embrace their creative potential, and recognize the interconnectedness of all things in the vast cosmic symphony.

Here’s another look at Odin’s eye, complete with the story behind it. The father figure of the Norse pantheon is often depicted in ancient art and literature as having only one eye, as shown in the Prose Edda. This is because Odin plucked out his right eye and dropped it into the well of Mimir in exchange for one drink. The sacrifice was part of a ritual to obtain wisdom and knowledge. The physical eye was volunteered willingly as a trade for omniscient sight. A personal sacrifice we can interpret as having incalculable value to a deity and a leader. The glass eye shown here was crafted by Janel Dudley Beads. And it is set in sterling silver hand-fabricated by yours truly. I added Elder Futhark runes in letters corresponding to north, south, east, and west, using the idea of a compass to nod at the eye's all-seeing power. Finished with my newer larger moth maker's mark and double strands of black steel chain. #eyependant #glasseyejewelry #eyejewelry #odin #norsemythology #runejewelry (at Langley, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cox7AnKSqvy/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I did share this photo when I completed the set.
I shaped and carved each piece in pure silver (precious metal clay), going for an ancient, rustic look.

Vegvisir ring - 99$
★Material: High Quality Solid 960 Sterling Silver★
Weight: approx. 19 g (0,67 oz)
The Vegvisir, also known as the runic compass or the Icelandic runes/Nordic compass, is an enchanting symbol comprising eight rune staves. It is deeply revered as a representation of protection and guidance, believed to have served as a compass for the Vikings. The Icelandic term "vegvisir" translates to "wayfinder" and "sign post."
Although widely recognized as the Viking compass, associated with the intrepid voyages undertaken by the Vikings during the Viking Age, the true origin of the Vegvisir remains a topic of ongoing debate.
The arrangement of the eight Icelandic rune staves forming the Vegvisir is thought to symbolize both the cardinal directions (North, South, West, East) and the intercardinal directions (Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, Southeast).
According to some theories, it is believed that placing a nail precisely at the center of the Vegvisir allowed the Vikings to navigate the seas. By observing the nail's shadow at specific times of the day, they could derive directional information and navigate with greater confidence.
In captivating legends, it is recounted that Icelandic ships would proudly display the Vegvisir, also referred to as the Nordic compass, as a talisman to guide their safe return home.
In contemporary times, the Vegvisir continues to hold significant cultural value as a symbol of Icelandic heritage. It is also embraced by followers of the Asatru faith as a potent symbol of spiritual guidance and personal affiliation.
