Let's be honest here. Ivarr would be 5'8". Sure, everyone wants to think of vikings being tall and built to wressle a bull but most in the real world were about 5'7-5'9. I'm not saying he can't be taller, but short feral gremlin Ivarr is what I wanna think about.

I once read a book about time travel where one of the subplots was about a viking who was brought to modern day. He played dumb to appease the scientists who brought him to the modern day, but he was secretly planning on raiding a nearby big box store and taking modern technology back to his original time. The part that really stuck out for me was when the raiders used the internet to map out the coasts and 10th Century cultures of the Americas and tattooed that map onto their bodies. When the viking and his crew went back to their original time, they created a runestone in remembrance of the great Raid of Walmart and then sailed down the American coast raiding and pillaging.

I remember the book as a whole being rather disappointing. The vikings raiding Walmart to steal modern technology and information was a really cool idea, but frankly they could have done more with that idea and the book was way too long to be carried by one good idea. The book also had a habit of making it obvious what would happen before it happened, then not deviating from those obvious plotlines. The story's climax was particularly disappointing, as the story pivoted away from time travel and towards mind control.

I want to find the book, but unfortunately viking time travel is a pretty popular trope in romance novels. That's the only part that really stuck out to me, so now I'm stuck. Does anyone know what this book is?

Sun and Moon edition Volume 1

-Since there is no electricity, Sun and Moon charge via eating: basically, they have a mini bio-reactor in their bodies, but they have to eat a LOT to get a full charge.

-Because the alcohol back then was so strong, they can (and will) get drunk. Don't ask how, the universe doesn't share its secrets~

-After learning Old Norse, the boys help out around Y/n's village when they aren't training to become warriors. It takes time for the village people to get used to the 9ft tall "metal men" helping, but they eventually accept the boys.

-While helping around the village, children will follow the two around

-Before they could 'complete' their training the village was attacked, and they both fought to protect the people. After driving away the enemy (most died though) the village leader threw a feast, and the boys got their first of many tattoos.

-The first tattoos Sun and Moon got were of Skoll and Hati, the wolves who chase the sun and the moon.

-After a few more battles, the boys begin to look worse for wear; one of Sun's rays is broken, and Moon has a huge gash through the silicone of his faceplate that looks like a scar.

-Moon's weapon of choice is dual axes, much like these

-Sun's weapon of choice is an axe and a shield.

-Both boys are excellent marksman with bows

-They had to have custom made armor, with Moon wearing this:
