Marty had always been a tough guy, but even he couldn't withstand the force of the car crash that had left him with a broken leg and a fractured arm. Rust rushed to the hospital as soon as he heard the news, his heart heavy with worry.

When he arrived, he found Marty lying in a hospital bed, his face pale and his eyes closed. Rust sat down beside him, taking Marty's hand in his own. "Hey, partner," he said softly. "How you feeling?"

Marty opened his eyes and looked up at Rust. "Like I got hit by a truck," he groaned.

Rust chuckled. "Well, you did get hit by a car," he said. "But don't worry, we'll get you fixed up in no time."

Over the next few days, Rust visited Marty every day, bringing him books to read and telling him stories about their old cases. Marty appreciated the company, but he couldn't help feeling frustrated at his own weakness. He was used to being the strong one, the one who could handle anything that came his way.

Rust noticed Marty's frustration and decided to take matters into his own hands. He asked the doctors if he could help with Marty's physical therapy, and soon he was coming to the hospital every day to help Marty regain his strength.

At first, Marty was skeptical. He didn't want to be a burden on Rust, and he didn't think he was capable of doing the exercises the doctors were asking him to do. But Rust was patient and persistent, pushing Marty just enough to challenge him without overwhelming him.

As the days turned into weeks, Marty began to feel stronger. He could feel the muscles in his leg and arm starting to rebuild themselves, and he was able to walk with the help of crutches. Rust was there every step of the way, cheering him on and offering a hand when he needed it.

One day, as they were working on Marty's exercises, Rust looked at him with a smile. "You're doing great, partner," he said. "I knew you had it in you."

Marty grinned back at him. "Thanks, Rust," he said. "I couldn't have done it without you."

Rust's smile faltered for a moment, and he looked away. "I just wish I could have been there to prevent the accident," he said quietly.

Marty reached out and put a hand on Rust's shoulder. "You were there when it mattered," he said. "You're here now. That's all that matters."

Rust looked back at Marty, his eyes shining with gratitude. "Thanks, Marty," he said. "You always know the right thing to say."

They continued their exercises, their friendship stronger than ever. Marty knew that he had Rust to thank for his recovery, and he was grateful for the bond they shared. They may have been two very different men, but in moments like these, they were united in their determination to overcome whatever obstacles lay in their path.

My Matthew I did a while back. So, I’m reposting it first because I really like him, and second because last time I went to my favorite art store , I stumbled onto 2 things : a watercolor palette with half the colors metallic (🤩🤩🤩) and another material I didn’t even know, tinted charcoal (🤩🤩🤩).
