If only Anne Rice had lived to see her vision realised, the commitment demonstrated by the entire IWTV team is wonderful, as a VC fan of over 30 yrs I can honestly say I never thought I’d see the day when the true spirit of the books would be realised on screen, particularly the complex characterisation of my beloved Lestat. Forever my favourite fictional character. Bravo Rolin Jones and team, bravo Jacob and the cast, but, particularly, bravo Sam, for realising the multi-faceted Lestat, the pathos and the humanity, the arrogance coupled with the fragility, this character that is beloved by so many. And especially by Anne, if only she had lived to see it. And now, I see Assad, portraying Armand so perfectly in the latest trailer, I hope, hope, hope we get to see TVL realised too, what a ride that will be in such capable and safe hands. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

anne rice somehow reaches levels of general bigotry racism xenophobia and antisemitism that are fucking staggering like im legit baffled. louis owning slaves in iwtv is literally tip of the iceberg and it is legitimately horrifying still! what about marius' entire chapter in the vampire lestat and the virulent xenophobia there. whatever shes done with the All Vampires Are White BTW. maharet and mekare. literally everything to do with akasha from what she does to her origins to. everything. i feel like im slowly driving red-hot pokers through my eyes. queen of the damned is making me Suffer fr.

my advice to amc iwtv fans who haven't read the books is to take everything book fans tell you about book canon with a grain of salt. the vampire chronicles series is full of inconsistencies, retcons, unreliable narrators contradicting each other, and vague statements that could be read a number of ways. as a result, the "canon" is shaky af. the fan tendency, however, is to simply state your own preferred interpretations, or headcanons, or popular fanon, as fact. fans also often take things anne rice (allegedly) said on facebook or in interviews to "prove" their views as "correct", without citing the source at all. most fandoms i've been in would not consider that sort of thing "canonical" at all; the author's opinion is merely one among many, the text itself open to the reader's personal interpretation, regardless of what the author "meant". in the vc fandom, this seems to be a foreign concept to many an old book fan presenting themself as an expert or even authority on the books. often what they're telling you as fact is actually just their own personal opinion, and highly debatable.

Lestat De Lioncourt: keeps up with trends, so either wears Diesel to appear laid-back, or Celine to serve cunt. Owns a collection of see-through blouses from Phoebe Philo tenure. Mandatory blood-spill painted tabi boots, he thinks its funny.

Louis de Pointe du Lac: he got 2 choices - trifted normal college student get-up or the most elegant shit ever made by YSL (all black, he is Goth like that)

Armand: had an extreme hype-beast fase. Circled around to actually developing taste, so now buys anti-fashion and collects Antwerp 6+1 pieces (still got every item from the gosha yeezy drops. it`s comfy)

Daniel Molloy: got in too many fights over wearing polyester with Marius. One day discovered his wardrobe full of new Very Normal looking clothes (the catch - every piece is now Bottega Veneta)

Marius De Romanus: exclusively wears Italian. Ranted about the intellectual genius of Miucca Prada for over a month, everyone hated him. Owns complete F/W 2012 Prada Men collection. Valentino for summer, D&G for loungewear. Gloves.

Claudia: Blair Waldorf realness, very smart about her choices. Chooses brands that target "younger" women but still keep the sexy in details. Miu Miu, Alessandro Michele Gucci and new Courreges.

Pandora: thats a McQueen and Gaultier woman. Angry and Feminine. Loves a suit. Mommy, sorry. The best at finding archivals during her travels.

i think in the books forcible blood drinking is described as rape because rape is, at its core, a violent invasion of one’s person that is painful frightening traumatizing etc. and not because it (the blood drinking) is literally a sex act. the analogy says more about what rape is than what blood drinking is. imo.

well i dont think i ever said it couldnt be rape nor did i fixate on the act of the blood itself.. bc the rest of my post discussed how vampires historically & even in the context of the text represent deceptive charming evil (bc they can ‘pass’ for whats considered ‘good’. a white mortal. a babydoll. an eternal teenager. a young spry lad. evil is a point of view indeed). my question is more aligned on the when would be when would it stop being rape & when does it become something else. is it even something else? the boundary is very blurred in the books bc the vampires cannot have sex + the act of losing that is a sort of violation in of itself (especially in the case of claudia being trapped in a small child’s body as an adult woman in mind)

All I do now when I am reading TVC books is imagine Jacob and Sam in the scenes. I was reading the Loustat reunion scene to get some inspiration for @vampirefest ‘s Bloody Valentine event and I just—

Anne did something so right when she wrote this book. The feelings the entire novel gave me are truly only described as feeling terribly alive and terribly human. Every emotion. Every moment of it but then to have this? Finally? To have Louis come back to Lestat with open arms and an open heart? It is so moving. So splendid. So worth waiting through all the separation and trauma to return to a place of understanding and most importantly, love for one another.

I can see Sam and Jacob so clearly in this entire scene and it makes me want season three more than ever.
