“You look like such a dad,” You mumbled with a laugh, turning to your husband in the dark kitchen as he was preparing to make coffee.

“What do you mean by that?” Seungcheol asked, face scrunching up as if it was an insult, “I am literally a father. My newborn daughter is sleeping in our room as we speak.” He added as if you had forgotten. 

“I know that. Obviously you are. But you just look like it right now.” You reinstated, hugging him from the back.

“I don’t have a dad bod…?” He said as if he was questioning the fact as well. You burst out laughing at the comment.

“I only meant you waking up at 3 am with me to help me feed her, and then you waking up again at 5 to make coffee and breakfast so I didn’t have to… It makes you feel like a proper father.” You slipped your hand underneath his shirt, feeling the very obvious and defined abs, “And of course you don’t have a dad bod, you work out almost daily.” 

He shook his head, laughing at your conclusion and pressing start on the coffee machine. He turned around to you, hugging you closer. You reached up to brush some of his hair away from his eyes. It was growing longer again, black locks a mess from sleeping and waking up constantly.

“Should I say that you look like such a mom then?”

“That is unnecessary, but a very big compliment.” You smiled, breaking the hug to allow Seungcheol to start making breakfast. You poured yourself coffee as he did, watching from the side and keeping a good eye on the baby monitor as well. You were always paranoid that you wouldn’t hear her cries when she woke up. You and Seungcheol were trying your best to be the best parents you could, but there were a lot of challenges with raising a newborn.

thank you for tagging me toffee @neo-shitty, it’s much appreciated!! i really loved doing this one :)

first creation & most recent creation:

my first work of 2022 was poisoned fangs (jan. 21) and my most recent one was star sweeper (sept. 14) i also released a small timestamp after star sweeper but i might delete it since it’s quite personal, so i won’t include it here.

i also wanted to post a new hyunjin fic before the year ended but since my tags up and fucking died it’ll probably be uploaded in january—or whenever my tags start working again.

one of your favorite creations:

my favorite creation from 2022 is probably twenty-three suns! i originally expected it to be a short little drabble but it snowballed into a one shot and i’m not complaining at all. i liked the concept, the execution, and how effortless it felt to write it. i didn’t put any expectations on myself and just wrote and it felt so freeing! it also got a lot of wonderful feedback which i appreciate 🤍

a creation you’re really proud of:

honestly i’m pretty proud of everything i put out this year, whether it was because of the word count, the characterization, the world building, etc. but if i had to choose one i’d probably say the kinds of love collection i wrote for valentine’s day because not only did i complete it quickly, there’s a lot of variety there and it was the first time i ever wrote for any of the enhypen members.

a creation that took you forever:

this one definitely has to be blood is thicker than water because i started brainstorming for it in like… october 2021 and it was published in april 2022. so it took me about seven months 🫣 but to be FAIR i just didn’t write for like five months and wrote a majority of it in march and april. anyways, it took a really long time but i’m glad it turned out the way it did!

the creation that received the most notes:

surprise… it’s blood is thicker than water again. i’m honestly surprised at how well this one did considering it was a) a longer fic and b) not fluffy at all and like. kind of gory and fucked up. but i’m really glad that it got the attention it did because it made those months so so worth it!

a creation that you think deserves more notes:

probably star sweeper (again) just because i’m satisfied with my note counts for the most part. however i do wish that perfect blue got more feedback, not just notes alone. i’d much rather have more feedback than more notes overall that are mainly made up of likes.

a new fandom you joined & a creation you made for it

i became a carat so thank you to rose @hyucks-rose for trying to introduce me to them in 2021 but it was hai cheng that was the final push and i caved. and it’s SO worth it because i love these 13 men with all my heart and soul now.

i wrote a love that lasts for s.coups and i’m like 25% done with a really long fic for minghao that’s inspired by hai cheng. but it’s been collecting dust because i have so many other wip’s 💔 maybe 2023 will be the year i finish it LMFAO

a creation you made that breaks your heart:

none of my fics really “break my heart” but i purposely made perfect blue really sad, and i do feel pity for the characters since i’m the one that put them in those fucked up situations 🫣

a “simple” creation you really love:

i have two here BUT late bloomer and between the clouds are some of my favorite shorter fics i’ve written. i concentrated a lot on emotions and trying to convey those through a small amount of words and i really love how they turned out. i usually don’t like my shorter fics because i always want to establish more and make them more fleshed out but i think these were both fairly decent.

oh also i liked this timestamp i wrote for soobin because i tried a new style with no dialogue and i liked how it turned out a lot!

a creation that was inspired by another one:

my new hyunjin fic was inspired by a few android fics i’ve read on here! i always link the media i was inspired by in my author’s notes. :>

definitely gotta be for reasons wretched & divine by @noramoons. i’m really bad at keeping up with multi-chaptered fics and still have a few parts to catch up on but this seriously got me through last school year when i wanted to die every day because of senioritis 🙏

what a core memory to start off this year.

overall experience at the standing pit near barricade is 50/50. definitely, it was incredible seeing svt up close. every single one of them is just so majestic (especially vernon!! hello!?!?! i got bias wrecked during the concert, so sorry jeonghan). i honestly can't NOT mention vernon because he was literally glowing. the moment my naked eyes met his figure, i was stunned at how beautiful he is, more beautiful than any human being. he looks like an angel who descended from the heavens and that's not even an exaggeration. i saw all of them up close and majority of the time, i just thought how can such stunning people exist, form a group, have crazy talents, and be goofy at the same time. when i say the svt members have it all, i mean it. they're the total package (and did i mention how diverse their discography is?? their b-sides are just as good as their title tracks fr fr). the downside of my section is that it gets too stuffy and crowded as the concert progresses with the fans pushing towards the front. i couldn't even jump during encore 'cause everyone was too busy taking videos and guarding their positions. could you just imagine, i couldn't jump when aju nice came in??? like that's never ending aju nice, the highlight of the show, and i couldn't even get to enjoy it, i'm heartbroken </3. if the next concert will be held for 2 days as well, i'll buy VIP for day 1 and bleachers for day 2 to maximize my concert experience.

here's a little bit of a story time of what happened to our tickets: my friend and i initially had day 2 VIP tickets, however, following the news of jeonghan's injury and the decision for him to sit out in the remaining follow tour stops (joining s.coups), i decided to let go my VIP ticket, and opted for day 1 standing (still in the same section). ideally, we wanted bleachers because we want to sit rather than stand, but it was like looking for a needle in a haystack, especially since we wanted the bleachers premium 1, near the stage. so, that's how we went from day 2 VIP holders to day 1 standing.

also, let me just rant: lnph is one of the worst event organizers. i had to argue with the staff in two occasions. first one was in the the ticket verification. we waited for 2hrs+ not knowing that they've forgotten about us. i was arguing with this one staff who apparently is like the team leader or something and i told her to do something--cut the line if they have to because we lined up first!! the other occasion was in the actual queue. so, we have this queue number that follows the timestamp of when you bought the ticket. we were at 100+ but when we got at the queue, the line was already long and they told us to line at the end like what the actual fuck, that's not how it works. i explained to them as calmly as possible that there's no way there would be duplicate of the queue number because it's a unique number per ticket. i sincerely have minimal patience with stupid people, it's a miracle that i was still able to hold back. the weather was hot, we had no water, we couldn't get answers from the assigned ushers for our line, and we have lnph people testing everyone else's patience. ugh.

Your phone buzzed on the table during dinner. You and Cheol both looked at it in a mixture of curiosity and annoyance. This was one of the few times you could eat dinner together, but the fact your phone had buzzed at all meant that it was from someone you actually had notifications turned on for.

You grabbed the device, flipping it over to see that one of your best friends had sent you a link. With a simple click, you were frowning at your phone in sadness. The link was to an article that had been written, spreading rumours that you were cheating on Cheol.

With every word that you scanned over with your eyes, you felt your heart drop. They were rumours, speculations, but the knowledge that people would think you would do something so horrible hurt you. Did they really think you were that bad? Did you give them a reason to think that?

Cheol obviously noticed the way you soured, as he reached out to take your phone. Feeling it slip out of your grasp, you wanted to protest, but found your words falling short as you looked at the expression of your boyfriend.

“You shouldn’t read these things, Y/N. You know they are just rumours, and that I would never believe them. I love you, and I know you love me, so it doesn’t matter what other people say, okay? Now I’m going to hold onto this until we finish eating, and then I’m going to cuddle any doubts out of you,” Cheol said, with a soft smile. You felt yourself relaxing at his words, the way you always did.

It was moments like these that reminded you why you stayed, why you endured the comments. Because there was only one man like Cheol, only one man with a heart so large, only one man with compassion to spare, only one man with all this plus a gorgeous face, and you had managed to secure him. 

You couldn’t let him slip away.

Your eyes opened slowly. You blinked away the sleep from your eyes as you looked over at the clock on your bedside table. You sighed when you say the time 6:03 am. The bed shifted slightly as Seungcheol shifted in his sleep. You glanced over at your boyfriend who was now sleeping on his stomach, his bare back exposed. His back rose and fell softly with each breath he took. His muscles looked so relaxed for once. He was always so tense. You gently traced his spine with your finger, the pad of your finger ghosting over his skin. A small noise came from his throat as a shiver ran down his back. You quickly moved your hand away. 

“Baby?” he mumbled out

“Hey, sorry Cheollie. I didn’t mean to wake you.”

“It’s alright.”

He flipped around so he was facing you. You giggled at his hair that was going in every direction. He pouted as he tried to tame the craziness on to of his head. 

“It’s fine. Just leave it,” you pulled his hand away from his hair

After complaining under his breath that you were laughing at him and giving him assurance that you weren’t teasing him, you both laid together in a comfortable silence. The birds outside your window began to chirp as the sun rose into the sky. Seungcheol moved a tray hair away from your face, his hand lingering by the side of your face. His hand rested on your cheek and his thumb stroked your skin. You smiled as you leaned into his touch. You let out a yawn, your eyes threatening to close. 

“Come here. Turn around,” Seungcheol opened his arms

You turned around and snuggled in Seungcheol’s arms. He pulled you close to his chest, his arms holding your waist tightly. Your eyes almost immediately closed as you felt his warmth radiating from his body. You completely relaxed and closed your eyes letting yourself fall back asleep. Seungcheol pressed a kiss to your shoulder.

“Goodnight, love.”

you sleepily followed behind bf!seungcheol throughout the dorms, suddenly becoming clingy as your hands attached to the back of his shirt while he does small tasks here and there. once stopped in the kitchen, he feeds you spoonfuls of the rice he’s eating, watching you contently while your hands grip tighter to him and you yawn. “you sleepy, sweetheart?” he’d ask while his hands smooth your hair and push it out of your face, watching you nod quietly. you’d have your blanket in hand, dragging behind you while he leads you to his room, tucking you in and sitting with you. soft hums left his lips while his hands rub against your back, being slipped under the shirt you stole from him. soft ‘i love you’s’ escape both your lips while he gently pushes your hair away from your face, kissing your forehead and letting you fall asleep in his presence. once seungcheol was sure you were fast asleep, soft praises and sweet nothings escaped his lips, his hands still rubbing against your back and drawing patters, letting his eyes flutter closed.

and that’s what true love feels like.

“Hey, you.”

Your voice can barely be heard over the crash of the waves, but Seungcheol still turns his head at the sound of your greeting, a soft smile already on his lips. He reaches up from where he’s sitting on the sand, tugging on your hand until you sit beside him. “What took you so long?” he asks in a hoarse whisper; it had been a long day of driving, but at the sight of the coast, the two of you decided to make a little stop before heading to your hotel.

“I was gonna get you something warm to drink over at that 24-hour donut shop, but they said their coffee machine was down,” you say, pouting. Although it’s basically summer, the night air is frigid, and each ocean wave brings a breeze that bites at your cheeks. When he sees you shivering next to him, Seungcheol wastes no time in wrapping his arm around you and pulling you into the warmth of his chest. You feel it vibrate when he chuckles.

“That’s okay, baby,” he says, and from the way he’s grinning, you already know he’s up to something. He gives your shoulder a little squeeze. “I actually know a better way we can warm up--”

“Seungcheol!” You smack his chest to reprimand him, though you’re already laughing along with him. “We are not doing that!”

“What, that’s not even what I was talking about!” His eyes still shine with laughter when he suddenly gets up then pulls you to your feet, his big, warm hands enveloping yours. “I was gonna say we should dance.”

He leads you away from the edge of the parking lot to the shore of the beach. The white light of the street lamps doesn't quite reach where you are, and you’re surprised by how far away it all seems; any streetlight seems to get swallowed by the dark waters and any sound seems to be carried off by the wind. It is as though you and Seungcheol are truly the only two people that existed.

If not for the radiance of the moon, you and Seungcheol would have been completely blanketed in the dark of the night. It somehow seems brighter tonight as it illuminates the endless ocean and the face of your love. Even after all this time, the sight of his dimpled smile and his gentle eyes that seem to drip with honey makes your heart soar in your chest, elated to know that it belongs to him.

And there, on the perfect stage, you hold one another and sway to the rhythm of the waves.
