Excerpt from this story from Grist:
Recent data analysis conducted by a human rights advocacy organization found that nearly a dozen international finance institutions directed over $3 billion to animal agriculture in 2023. The majority of those funds — upwards of $2.27 billion — came from development banks and went towards projects that support factory farming, a practice that contributes to greenhouse gas emissions as well as biodiversity loss.
The researchers behind the analysis are calling on the development banks — which include the International Finance Corporation, or IFC, part of the World Bank — to scrutinize the climate and environmental impacts of the projects they fund, especially in light of the World Bank’s climate pledges.
The analysis comes from the International Accountability Project, which reviewed disclosure documents from 15 development banks and the Green Climate Fund, established in 2010 at COP16 to support climate action in developing countries. Researchers found that 10 of those development banks, as well as the Green Climate Fund, financed projects directly supporting animal agriculture. The data serves as the basis for a new white paper from Stop Financing Factory Farming, or S3F, a coalition of advocacy groups that seeks to block development banks from funding agribusiness, released last month.
The International Accountability Project, which advocates for human and environmental rights, hopes that its findings will pressure international financial institutions like the World Bank to see the contradiction in financing industrial animal agriculture projects while also promising to help reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
Agriculture accounts for a significant portion of global greenhouse gas emissions, so much so that research has suggested limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) is not possible without changing how we grow food and what we eat. Within the agricultural sector, livestock production is the main source of greenhouse emissions — as ruminants like cows and sheep release methane into the atmosphere whenever they burp.

Speaking of GR, look at this photo from when he was on The Voice. I run into it every few years and it makes me laugh hysterically every time. https://static.standard.co.uk/s3fs-public/thumbnails/image/2017/01/06/08/gavinrossdale.jpg?crop=8:5,smart&quality=75&auto=webp&width=960

The Crucial Demand
With the soaring rates of unintentional opioid overdoses since 2019, the crucial demand for access to substance use disorder (SUDs) treatment for people struggling with addiction in Portland is higher than ever. Still, a report from 2022 shows that these social services in Oregon are almost half the size they should be to meet this demand.
In collaboration, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health researchers and the Oregon Health Authority conducted a study analyzing the care gaps in services for substance use disorder prevention, harm reduction, and treatment and recovery. According to the report, data shows the state would need to double its services to sufficiently meet the current needs of Oregonians struggling with addiction and highlight significant care gaps, including access to services.
The report highlights three significant needs for continuum SUDs care:
• There is a 49% gap in substance use disorder services needed, including prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services.
• Most substance use disorder providers lack the capacity to meet demand for services.
• Statewide gaps in equity and access include insufficient provisions of culturally relevant services to protected classes, language interpretation and translation services, and a workforce that does not represent the demographics of the state field (Lenahan, Rainer, Baker, Goren, & Needham Waddell, 2022).
Multnomah County Mental Health and Addiction Services Division identified in its directory 19 addiction treatment organizations serving uninsured, underinsured, and undocumented individuals or offering services to youth, families, and adults, including culturally specific programs for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ populations (County). According to the report conducted by OHSU-PSU, this number should be closer to 38.
With the introduction of Fentanyl onto the streets, those using drugs are at a much higher risk of overdose, as it is increasingly being found in a wide range of recreational drugs, increasing its danger.
According to the Oregon Health Authority's most recent report on Opioid Overdose Public Health Surveillance Update, the Summary of Findings:
• Mortality data for 2023 still need to be completed, as the recent months' results may change. Totals by year are as follows: o 2019 unintentional opioid overdose deaths total 280. o 2020 unintentional opioid overdose deaths total 472. o 2021 unintentional opioid overdose deaths total 737. o 2022 unintentional opioid overdose deaths total 955. o 2023 unintentional opioid overdose deaths total 304.

(ESSENCE, 2023)
The need for adequate access to substance use treatment is evident in the active and open drug use we witness on the streets of Portland, the individuals seeking services who cannot gain access due to long wait lists, and the mortality rates we continue to see in the several hundred every year. Even with ample funding from the state, the report shows there are not enough qualified providers to meet the demand. This means people are waiting, and it is clear that substance use disorder is a condition where if people wait, people die. There can be no more waiting. Our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children, and loved ones are dying.

Since I was reviewing anyways I went back to grab the resource section of the classes for those interested in resources and literature on early childhood / infant trauma
Since I'm actually looking closer at these papers I might actually go ahead and read some of the more interesting ones directly, highlighting ones that seem interesting cause I MIGHT actually read and chat about it on here cause I'm currently waiting for the unit I'm supposed to work on to open and technically dont "have to" do more studying or what not but I also feel weird getting paid to do nothing so... I might say "hey yeah I finished all the mandatory trainings plus like 15 hrs of optional ones I just started reading research papers haha" /hj

Interesting (and unsurprising, anecdotally) study about autism increasing predisposition for PTSD/increasing sensitivity to adverse events: https://neurosciencenews.com/asd-ptsd-neuroscience-26067/
(We haven't read the full academic paper yet, but the summary is neat). Seems potentially relevant to dissociative system stuff as well--like, we know that CPTSD can also be caused by "death by a thousand papercuts"-type trauma (where any individual incident "wasn't so bad" but cumulatively it builds up), but/and adding this on top of that suggests that the "threshold of adverse-ness" for events that could lead to posttraumatic reactions like PTSD and dissociative disorders could be quite a lot lower than generally thought, especially for (apparently, according to this study) autistic populations, which may (and this is speculation) also be true for related types of neurodivergence like ADHD and schizophrenia etc.
Also, as far as we're aware (feel free to correct us/chime in/etc), intentional and non-intentional endogenic plurality tends to be more likely to happen for folks who have higher-than-average predispositions for dissociation, even if they don't have a dissociative disorder, and it might be that this sensitivity to adverse events could lead to overall higher baseline dissociation in ways that "encourage" plurality to arise. Thoughts?

How to Mount Wasabi Storage Bucket on CentOS and Ubuntu 20 using S3FS
Introduction In this article, we will be using S3FS to mount cloud storage services locally on a CentOS or Ubuntu box. Mounting them locally will allow us to interact with the cloud providers as a local file system. We will be covering three cloud storage providers namely, AWS S3, Wasabi Hot Storage and Digital Ocean Spaces. What makes this interesting is that all three providers use the same api, which is the S3 API. S3FS is a FUSE (File System in User Space) based solution used to mount an Amazon S3 or compatible storage solutions, Just as mentioned above, we can use system commands with this drive just like as another Hard Disk in the system. On s3fs mounted files systems we can simply use cp, mv and ls the basic Unix commands similar to run on locally attached disks. Prerequisite - Sudo access for the remote server - Credentials for the Wasabi bucket to know the bucket name and region
Step 1 – Update Packages
First, we will update the system to make sure we have the latest packages. We will then check if we have any existing s3fs or fuse package installed on your system. We will remove any existing packages and install everything anew. ### CentOS and RedHat Systems ### $ yum update $ yum remove fuse fuse-s3fs ### Ubuntu Systems ###  $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get remove fuse
Step 2 – Install Dependencies
Once you have successfully removed the packages. We will install all dependencies for the fuse. Install the required packages to the system using following command. ### CentOS and RedHat Systems ### yum install gcc libstdc++-devel gcc-c++ curl-devel libxml2-devel openssl-devel mailcap ### Ubuntu Systems ###  sudo apt-get install build-essential libcurl4-openssl-dev libxml2-dev mime-support
Step 3 – Download and Compile Latest S3FS
In this step we will download and compile the latest version of s3fs from GitHub. For this article we are using s3fs version 1.74. After downloading extract the archive and compile source code in system using the commands below. Debian 9 and Ubuntu 16.04 or newer: sudo apt install s3fs RHEL and CentOS 7 or newer through via EPEL: sudo yum install epel-release sudo yum install s3fs-fuse
Step 4 – Configuring Access Key
In order to configure s3fs, we would require Access Key and Secret Key of your S3 Amazon account, Wasabi or Digital Ocean. You can access these keys from you account dashboard of the respective services. Once you have these keys, create a file, for the purpose of this tutorial we will be naming the file pwd-s3fs. echo AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID:AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY > ${HOME}/.passwd-s3fs ### Note: Change AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID and AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY with your actual key values. After creating the password file we will change the permission on the file for security reasons. chmod 600 ${HOME}/.passwd-s3fs
Step 5 – Mount S3 Bucket
Finally, we can mount the s3 bucket using following set of commands. For this example, we are using s3 bucket name as test-bucket and the mount point as /s3mnt. mkdir /tmp/cache /s3mnt chmod 777 /tmp/cache /s3mnt s3fs -o use_cache=/tmp/cache mybucket /s3mnt -o passwd_file=${HOME}/.passwd-s3fs Once this has been successfully run, you will be able to access all files within the test-bucket by just changing directories into /s3mnt.
Step 6 – Mounting a Wasabi Hot Storage Bucket
If you are not familiar with Wasabi, It’s a S3 compatible storage which is 1/5th the price and 6x faster than Amazon S3, according to their website. Since it supports the S3 API the same command works, you only need to change the endpoint as describe below: s3fs test-bucket /s3mnt -o passwd_file=/etc/pwd-s3fs -o url=https://s3.wasabisys.com s3fs#test-bucket /s3mnt fuse allow_other,use_cache=/tmp/cache,use_path_request_style,url=https://s3wasabisys.com  0 0 Note: In order to unmount the folders, follow the below commands umount -l /tmp/cache umount -l /s3mnt Read the full article

ATTENTION ALTERNIAN SURVIVORS
THIS IS THE OFFICAL RECOGNITION OF THIS ACCOUNT AS A PRODUCT OF HER IMPERIOUS CONDESCENSION'S ALTERNIAN EMPIRE, UNDER THE "PUBLIC INTERFERENCE" BRANCH OF RULING. THIS ACCOUNT WAS CREATED IN RECOGNITION OF THE INCREASE OF ACTIVE "GRUBLR" USERS, IN ORDER TO CREATE AN ENVIROMENT TO BETTER PROMOTE "ADVERTISING".
WHAT IS ADVERTISING?
"ADVERTISING" IS A LEGISLACERATOR TERM STEMMING FROM THE WORD "ADVERSARY", MEANING OR OTHERWISE USED IN REGARDS TO "ANYTHING THAT PROMOTES (AND/OR DEMANDS ACTIONS THAT PROMOTE): COMPETITION, BLOODSHED, SUBJUGATION OF INFERIOR CASTES [RELATIVE TO THAT OF THE ADVERTISER], AND CULLING UNACCEPTABLE TROLLS IN THE ALTERNIAN EMPIRE’S NAME."
EXAMPLES OF THIS HAS BEEN PROVIDED. AN ADVERTISMENT CAN BE, BUT IS NOT RESTRICTED TO, THE FOLLOWING-
A PROMOTION OF A BUSINESS, EXPIREMENT, BLOG, “FLARP” CAMPAIGN, OR ANY OTHER CREATION OF WHICH TROLLS MAY ENGAGE EACH OTHER ABOUT.
A SPECFIED CALL FOR CULLING AND/OR BLOODSHED IN THE CASE OF A SPECFIC TROLL OR SPECFIC GROUP OF TROLLS [RELATIVE TO THAT OF THE ADVERTISER; ONLY APPLICABLE TO TROLLS OF CASTES BELOW THE ADVERTISER’S. GROUPS OFFICALLY RECOGNIZED BY THE EMPIRE ARE EXEMPT].
A DEMAND FOR WORK FROM CASTES INFERIOR TO THE ADVERTISER’S [OFTEN GIVEN ALONGSIDE DETAILS OF SAID LABOR, LOCATION OF WHICH TO WORK, AND TIME OF WHICH THE WORK IS EXPECTED TO BE STARTED, WITH MORE OR LESS DETAILS GIVEN AS REQUIRED.]
FURTHERMORE, THE CURRENT ALTERNIAN EMPIRE-REPRESENTATIVE-IN-TRAINING WILL BE CHARGED WITH THE UPKEEP AND MODERATION OF THIS BLOG (IN ADDITION TO THE REST OF THEIR DUTIES) IN ORDER TO FURTHER PROVE THEIR LOYALTY TO THE ALTERNIAN EMPIRE. SAID EMPIRE-REPRESENTATIVE-IN-TRAINING WILL TAKE CHARGE OF THIS ACCOUNT UNTIL NO LONGER IN-TRAINING [EITHER THROUGH PROMOTION OR CULLING], IN WHICH THE NEXT EMPIRE-REPRESNTATIVE-IN-TRAINING WILL BE EXPECTED TO TAKE OVER. THE EMPIRE-REPRESENTATIVE-IN-TRAINING WILL BE INFORMED OF THEIR NEW RESPONSIBLITIES IMMEDIATELY AND WILL BE EXPECTED TO FUFILL THEIR DUTIES BETTER THAN THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITIES.
ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS?
ASK THE MODERATOR.
// OR, in other words, I was inspired by blogs like @aita-alternia @alternian-advice @alternia-legal-advice @alternian-mutant-madness @idiots-of-alternia @alternian-relationship-advice @quadrant-horror-stories and everyone else making homestuck gimmick blogs like this and wanted to join in LMAO
//I may be a lot late to the party but the idea is I wanted to make somewhere where everyone who was making these kind of blogs could sorta.. promote themselves? So that its easier to find everyone and stuff? So you're welcome to do that, OR you can also advertise the other typical stuff like fake businesses or other troll get togethers and stuff. or like previously mentioned you can just advertise to everyone how much one specific troll sucks. Whatever you want! Be creative, have fun, etc etc :]!!!! the definition of what an advertisement is here is Very Broad LMAO there's no wrong way to do it!! (probably.)
// (also for the record, I'm about to introduce the in-character mod in a second LMAO ive just gotta finish drawing something first!!)
