Visited my favorite Sake brewery “Shichiken”(七賢) for joining brewery open day. Visitors can try tasting 14 different types of Sake by paying JPY1,000. All visitors including my family seems spending quite fun time. This weekend I was able to participate in a tour and rice planting event in Iizaka,Fukushima. It was a beautiful spring day, and I was happy to get outside and enjoy the weather with some locals. In the morning we strolled around Iizaka, taking in the sites and enjoying the delicious food. In the afternoon we went to a brewery farm to try our hand at rice planting. It was hard work, but fun. At first I was nervous to step into the muddy rice field, but I overcame my fear and am very happy I did! In a few months we will be able to reap the benefits of our hard work by tasting the sake that will be brewed with the rice we planted. After rice planting, we went for a relaxing soak in an onsen(hot spring), and then on to a wonderful meal with our fellow rice planters. We ate, drank and chatted for hours. I got to know some of the locals and am really grateful I was able to share this experience with them. I can’t wait for the sake tasting this winter.

  今週末、私は小旅行と田植えイベントのために福島市飯坂温泉に行きました。とてもうららかな春の日で、外に出るのがうれしく、地元の方々と素敵な天気を楽しみました。

朝の時間、私たちは飯坂の町中をいろいろ名所も見ながら、おいしいものを食べながら歩き回りました。午後には酒米の田んぼに行き、手植えによる田植えに挑戦しました。とても大変でしたが、楽しかったです。はじめ泥んこの田んぼの中を歩くのにすごくナーバスになりましたが、怖さに打ち勝つことができて本当にうれしかったです。数か月後には、私たちが植えたお米を使った酒を飲むことによって、今回のがんばりの成果をいただくことができます。田植えの後、私たちはリラックスするために温泉に入り、それから田植え仲間たちと一緒にすばらしい夕食を食べました。私たちは数時間、いろいろ食べたり飲んだりしました。地元の方々と知りあい、彼らとこの経験をともにできたことに感謝しています。冬にお酒を飲むのが楽しみで待ちきれないです。
