YEA LETS GO EX-FRAMING DEPARTMENT they never even got around to teaching me production it was all wrapping and taking orders :/ Idk how it is at other shops but we only had 3 people working the whole frame shop. One person did ALL the frame assembly and us other two handled everything else. Was absolutely not worth $11/hr. man fuck retail. FUCK Design Hub too, if I may
#id come in for my like 4 hour shift and would have to run + close shop which included wrapping#wrapping storing calling for all orders done plus get all yhe frames lined plus unpack and clean up all the new frames coming in all by#all by the end of the night PLUS frame shop had to clean the bathrooms every night#plus actually running the front desk and taking orders and sometimes ppl would take hours picking matts that would cut into the time i had#to have everything else finished PLUS if i for some reason had everything done on time theyd make me run sales floor too#it was insane all the stuff they had me learn for such shit pay like. and#never work michales but never do it around the holidays more important#you will never escape the glitter#all that and my framing manager never got around to teaching me how to assemble a frame.#at least it was nice to hide in the frame shop so i wasnt talking to customers 24/7 but still#customers treat you so horribly like i was sweeping once and this lady comes up to me like saying the bathroom was disgusting right#and i get it. it was always disgusting. but we did clean it every night. anyway its hard when you cant just tell people that 1.#1 we clean them every night so if theres a huge mess in it most likely it was another shopper who pissed on the floor just cuz.#and 2 they only give us a mop and some pine sol to clean the whole 2 bathrooms every night. dont blame me blame michals lol#everything else was just so stupid#i wanna know how many framing department ppl everyone else had because we had 2 part time and 1 full time and i was only there a few months

Did some fucking masterful salesmanship towards the end of my shift that netted the company a big ten-ish quid. All in a day's work.
#basically someone came in looking for a zip for a cropped corset top that her daughter bought#which she had worn once and the zip it came with immediately broke#but my colleague said that we don't sell separating zips that short#and in fact no one does except this one guy in the city centre who makes zips himself#so the customer was very disappointed that she now had to trek all the way into the city#and I said 'what I would do is take the zip out and put in some ribbon in an appropriate colour and sew on some hooks and eyes'#which we have in abundance#so I found her a ribbon that was a good colour match (the top was an olive green satin fabric)#and a packet of silver hooks and eyes and some green embroidery floss#heroically saving her from taking the train into town#and getting the sale for us and not yer man in the city centre#my colleague and the customer were suitably awed by this quick thinking and creative problem solving#and both agreed that hooks and eyes would look much nicer than a horrible old zip#I am going to get a good grade in retail: a thing that is normal to want and possible to achieve#honestly though they are so fucking lucky to have me at [workplace]#I give great customer service and I am very knowledgable in craft-related areas#and the curtain stuff is coming to me!#it's not rocket surgery#I ordered a blind today all by myself using the manufactorer's online portal#although I did get the manager to double check everything before I converted it to an order and booked it in#so that if I had made any mistakes that she had cosigned them lol#but yeah I am such a good little cog in the capitalist machine#of Big Ribbon™#werq bitch

if you would like a long rant about my past 2 days:
my schedule gets changed last-minute to 4-12:30 for thursday (yesterday) and friday (today). whatever. they wanna train me on the bake shift
wednesday my manager texts me “come in at 3 for big donut order. whatever
get there at 3 yesterday and manager doesn’t show up for 20 minutes
the order is for 46 dozen donuts thursday evening and 21 dozen friday afternoon
my manager asks the order-placer if she wants to pick them all up at once, to which she replies “👍”
my manager doesn’t understand this reply, still wants to make all 67 dozen and have them pick up at the requested times (????? why do this when donuts get gross after a day???)
we make all 67 dozen and i package them and split them between 3 shopping carts: 21 dozen, 21 dozen, and 25 dozen
before i leave i tell my manager how the donuts are split in the shopping carts and she says “okay. come in at 3 again tomorrow”
i still haven’t learned anything about the bake shift other than donuts
i get there at 3 this morning
text from my manager “i’m gonna be 30 minutes late, start doing [x]”
i do [x] and more until she finally shows up at 4:20-ish
she asks where the rest of the donut order is, then realizes they picked up all 67 dozen
she says “well we need to make the 21 dozen for today bc they probably don’t know they have all 67″
i say “should we call them and make sure?”
she says “no”
we make the other 21 dozen
my manager says “why haven’t they picked this up yet?”
later she says “so they knew they had all 67 dozen so they’re not coming to get these” NO SHIT DUMBASS
i learned about baking for 4 hours, then i had to go do today’s cake orders since there’s no fucking cake decorator bc my manager took me off my normal cake decorating shift to learn bake shift and I STILL KNOW ALMOST NOTHING

I am really sore from work I wish riding five hours in the car didn't require having your feet on the ground
#ghostly posts#walked 10.6k steps which is by no means even close to my record or anything#but I got NO BREAKS ..... I ate my lunch in the car home after my shift. like#augh on my feet all the time hurts :/#got called in early at 6:30 ran around getting ready and packing for later so that by 8:30 I was ready for work#got to work and then just. I got one 10 minute pee break I guess. but that's all! run chicken.#8 piece dark was on sale HALF OFF so that's all ANYBODY ordered#and we'd take four customers to run out of fried chicken. make some more. make some more. we need baked chicken. and whole chickens.#more fried. wash ten more bowls please. we don't have any clean tongs#our fryers are busy with chicken so we're also out of potatoes and corn dogs and burritos. make more of those. keep track#oh we have three salads that aren't labeled today ! cool and the managers left without saying anything about that cool#now I just look like an idiot cause nobody told me we were putting out A SIXTH POTATO SALAD today.#and don't get me started on pre sliced meats and cheeses. man#anyway after work ate my lunch and dropped by home to change and get shopping list#shopped groceries and then came back and my roommates tire was flat#so I had to unload and greet our guests and then immediately drive my roommate to the tire store#and we picked up the fixed tire she needed#then I was like 'I really wanna help you put this tire on but I need to shower so bad'#and then I showered and my roommates parents visited while I did that#and then dinner was ready and I ate food but I portioned too much :/ and also I realized I wasn't even done packing! oh no! I leave in ten#minutes for the mountain! shit!#I got packed I had help and everyone was so niceys to me#but my back hurts and I am already soooo ready to be lying down!
