Okay @ivorylei a number 6 coming up! Not quite an arranged marriage and not quite the typical Hades/Persephone story.

Stealing the Groom

“Brother why? Not like this!”

“You’ve been admiring him for years. He’s yours now.”

That’s what Bucky heard before passing out on the cold dark ground of the Underworld. One minute he was chasing deer in the field with his fellow immortal Steve and the next the earth tore open and an icy dark hand reached out, grabbed his leg and dragged him down to the depths. He seemingly fell for days, and he cracked the ground when he landed. He surely would’ve been dead had he been human.

Currently he was stuck in a lavish house bejeweled with all the elements the earth provided. There were mosaics and paintings describing the deeds of gods and men. The gardens were honestly his favorite part with flowers and plants that were the darkest shades of red, purple, blue and black. He had been told all his immortal life that the Underworld was a cold, dark, ugly place, but this truly wasn’t that bad, not that he was happy. In fact, he was extremely annoyed. He’d been kidnapped and dragged to the Underworld and for what purpose? He didn’t know. All he knew was that this house was supposedly his now and no matter how far he walked away it led him straight back there.

Plus, there was the robed figure that seemed to be watching him from a distance. The person was about his height, spoke softly and refused to reveal themselves. The only skin he’d seen was their arms which were long, dark brown and covered in rings or bracelets of silver or gold. They had urged him to eat but Bucky wasn’t stupid, he knew the rules of the gods and he had no intention of staying underground. He was sure Steve was probably rallying support to get him back so he could resist eating for a while. But that didn’t mean he was about to sit idle and wait to be rescued.

The bedroom was where he set up his trap. From the earlier conversation he had heard he knew he had been brought to be with someone, yet that someone had yet to take advantage of him. Bucky knew he was handsome and had easily seduced many a nymph or hunter on the cool grassy fields. He had to bring the person within his reach in order to subdue them. On the wide bed he’d shed his clothes and left the lamp on, offering himself at his most vulnerable; his nude body on display for anyone with a dare in their heart to reach out and touch. Insofar they hadn’t taken the bait yet.

A soft sound of footsteps stirred, and Bucky did his best to remain still. The hand that stroked his arm was soft and cool, not unpleasant. They bent over as if hovering over him and he pounced. Grabbing their wrist, there was a gasp as he flipped them over him, rolled on top and pinned them down on the bed with his weight. The hood fell back, revealing his captor.

Her skin was as dark as rich brown earth, dark pools were her eyes and a river of black braids threaded with gold spread out on the pillows. There was not an ounce of ugliness upon her.

“Hi.” He said, pleasantly surprised.

Sarah was beyond embarrassed. The demigod she’d admired from afar was now above her and she blushed furiously at the way he looked at her. “Hello..um…I’m sorry.”

“What for?”

“For all of this. My brother took you for me, but I didn’t ask him to! I would’ve talked to you eventually I was just working up to it.” She admitted, finding him stunning up close.

“I wasn’t aware that the God of the Dead had a sister or that she was looking for a husband.”

She shrugged. “Most people don’t care to know much about the underground. My brother knew I felt lonely, and he knew that I liked you. I’m sorry this isn’t right and it’s not fair to you. You didn’t ask to be here, and you didn’t consent to be my husband. I don’t want to be like the other gods who force themselves on others without apology. I’ll tell my brother to send you back, I promise.”

Bucky smiled, pleased by her sincerity. “What’s your name?”

“Sarah.” Startled by the smile that spread over his handsome features.

“Sarah, it’s nice to meet you at last.” He began. “And you’re already not like the other gods. You did not force yourself upon me and you’re being honest with me now and I appreciate it. As such I think we can come to a bargain.”

“A bargain?”

He released his hold on her wrists, but did not take his weight off her, not yet. “If I’m to be your husband and you my wife we should get to know each other properly. Let’s talk, let me out of this house so I can see what this place is, if I like it here…If I like you. If I do then I will eat and stay with you.”

“But if you’re not happy.” She added gently, her hands now free so she could finally touch him. “I’ll send you back. I promise.”

Her hands were cool and silky soft, he could learn to love her touch. “Shall we seal the bargain?”

“Please.” She murmured coaxing him down for a kiss.

They kept their word to each other and Bucky got to see the rest of the Underworld with Sarah guiding the way. There was ugliness, but also beauty just like in any other realm. While her brother took care of the greater duties, she maintained the order of things. She made sure the Elysian Fields were perfect, that the sinners were properly punished, that stray souls found their way and that the animals who called the place home were happy and content. He admired her dedication to a thankless job.

They talked about their lives, their hopes and dreams. She admitted that she wanted to see the living world, but her duties kept her bound, plus her brother worried about her being seen by the other gods and forced upon which was why no one knew she existed. Bucky felt great anger at the idea of someone the likes of Zeus or Apollo lusting after her and was glad that he’d seen her first.

Sarah had spied on Bucky many times and wasn’t naïve to his desires, but it was quite different when the pleasure was aimed towards her. It didn’t take long before they physically sought each other. Their kisses hot and deep as they embraced with increasing passion. He was a skilled lover who thoroughly ravished her once consent was given and she was driven to heights of ecstasy she had only dreamt of before. Words of love came easily to them, as naturally as breathing. Soon they both knew that they would no longer be able to part as they had already tasted the most delicious, most forbidden of fruits.

When Steve finally broke into the Underworld with his avenging companions he did not expect to find his best friend naked on a chair with an equally naked beautiful black woman sitting on his lap, giggling like children as they fed each other ruby-like grapes. Bucky quickly grabbed a robe to cover Sarah but kept her on his lap before greeting his friend.

“Hi!” He grinned sheepishly. “I can explain. So what had happened was…”

After explaining to his friends-and putting on some clothes-he introduced them to his wife who was flustered but a gracious hostess. They were skeptical of course, magic can be altering, but after a few days were convinced. Steve always did try to find the good in everyone and he decided that Sarah was a lovely wife for his dearest friend. They agreed to invite her above ground and get to know their home and she was excited at the prospect. The only thing that he demanded was that they have a proper wedding to make it fair and legitimate.

Although they already saw each other as husband and wife, they agreed all the same, so on the field where he had first been taken, Bucky married his Sarah, and it was a merry affair.

One of the things I like about seeing things in the highest resolution possible is that you can see tiny but important details that get lost otherwise. The moment from the deleted scene is short but we get a lot of information about Sarah, Sarah and Sam's relationship as siblings, and just also how well the comedic timing of all this is, on top of the canon sarahbucky content.

I just love seeing the variety of expressions Sarah gets to be shown just from this once scene alone! And of course she shares another stare and look with Bucky.

And just look at how deliberate Sam was in stealing the chair when he knew she was interested in it 😂 You know he loves teasing her

I'm not surprised by the drop, I'm mostly surprised it made the list because, among other things, people don't reblog, they don't interact. You can post a meta about the ship and you'll get 8 likes on a good day. Also, controversial opinion, it wasn't fun going into the tag for awhile, like it seemed you were shamed for shipping it. There were sideways comments even among Sambucky shippers. There was also a blogger who was bullied and called fake black for shipping Sambucky more than Sarahbucky

Hey, anon. I’m probably about to be more long winded than I should, as usual lol.

So, okay, I expected the drop too, but not like this. A good chunk of people who were around last year or even earlier this year were Stuckies who showed up due to TFATWS because they were just happy that Bucky was in the vicinity of a man again. They didn’t care about Sam, and they barely cared about Bucky, and I didn’t expect them to stick around too long once it became clear to them that people were going to pushback against their nonsense.

There’s a lot of folks though who I think just flat out stopped interacting. For example, I personally think a lot of people are still reading and enjoying fic and headcanons, but like you said, they aren’t reblogging or liking, and they certainly aren’t leaving kudos on ao3 and that’s the part that is kinda shocking to me.

When I first started being active in this fandom, the more established people here were so friendly to me. When I posted a snippet of my first SamBucky fic, people with big followings were so receptive to it and reblogged it and said such nice things, and that was months before the show aired. Idk… I guess what I’m trying to say is, I expected the fandom to go back to the size and engagement that it had before the show, I expected it to drop off in that way, but I didn’t expect things to be the way they are now with little to no interaction on posts and fics, here and on ao3.

You’re right: the tag wasn’t fun for a while. I mentioned on another post, that at one point last year I deactivated my blog because I was tired of the fandom racism and needed a break. I came back about a month later, used the same name, and followed the accounts I knew I could trust under my new blog. I also remember the SamBucky vs SarahBucky issues, and as someone who’s written fics for both ships, I didn’t get it, but I can see why it would have turned people off. Sidenote: someone accused me of antiBlackness the other day because I don’t ship Namor and Shuri, so, I get that people can be idiots.

I’m really rambling now, but I’ll say that my personal theory is that some people left because of racism, and some people left because they were really stuckies the whole time, and some folks left over other fandom drama, BUT MOST people who don’t interact anymore don’t because they don’t understand the give and take of fandom AND they, I don’t know how to exactly say it, but they don’t know how to fandom period. If Anthony and Seb aren’t on a press tour or if Sam & Bucky aren’t on a screen in front of them, it’s like they can’t still like them. It’s weird.

They’re my ship and I’m a stick beside ‘em though, lol. Catch me at the theatre with the other 3 SamBuckies like @glittercake said lmaooo

Yeah, my joy at seeing everyone who has worked so hard on this show, being so playfully, publically about SarahBucky (I keep tryna make Barah happen but yall don’t want it!)... gives me old Richonne feels. How Andy (and BTS MVP Andy’s mum) basically made it happen despite the racist and shadist pushback.... I’ll never forget that interview at a radio station with (black men!) DJs tee-heeing about how “the black chick” would more likely cut off Rick’s balls, then have any kind of romantic relationship.  And he had to actually state her name and then emphatically say that Michonne is who he thought his charater ought to be with. So, that misogynoir ESPEC. when she’s dark-skinned runs DEEP. I’ve been rooting for Adepero Oduye since Pariah, where she got all kinds of acclaim that I just *knew* would lead to little.... Ask me how I knew. 😕 If I’m being honest?  This role is actually pretty small for her talents and that acclaim. She should be leading stuff. But I’ll take seeing her be the one to actually get in canon what so much of fandom predicibly “saw” w/ everyone but a dark-skinned black woman with a boat, two sons, and brother who can fly; that one fandom bicycle dude w/ the murder strut.

most of the things I want to ramble about are either potential spoilers for the sarahbucky installments or about the other ships that aren’t popular. I really like this series and haven’t been into something nor have so many plans for a fic in a really, really, really long time so please excuse me

symbolism: I don’t think I have made any. I think I'm pretty blatant in my writing

character/relationship developments that I love: as one comment said, bucky starting to separate sarah v from sarah w and this having to partially bury sarah v for a second time

sam and joaquín’s relationship is really nice

monica and jimmy’s was really fun to write!

I love the tragedy of sarah v and bucky and have it all planned out, even when the war ends and she doesn’t hear from him until one of the howling commandoes come knocking on her door. sarah v running into peggy carter later too

also: I have this whole thing rebecca barnes and her parents surrounding her leaving to mexico. about carol and maria finding evidence of their past lives and wanting to replicate it in some way but aliens stand in the way. I want to do a short piece about monica and nick fury’s easy bonding and them finding out why, and one about maria and carol naming him her godfather. I want to write more of nakia and t’challa too. one of ava starr and leah is coming up too. I have been debating on writing short somethings for howard stark and his experience feat. the jarvises, one for sharon carter, and one for wanda maximoff (that will preface another verse)

The writer of the poster then says how in Infinity War this persona seems to have returned full forced. I thought that post was really interesting.

While this fansite will have a focus on Sarah Wilson, it is technically a ship fansite so it will serve as a place where all fan-created content is collected, both for the ship as well as for Sarah Wilson individually. This is a safe and fun space for fans of this amazing ship to express their admiration and love for this ship, and a safe place to have civil discussions or meta.

Maybe I should have asked this a while ago, but, what is this “queue” I keep seeing people talk about things being in?

“Contribute to the queue” What does that mean?

(This is Me: Knowing what I need to know how to do, learning new stuff only when I need to do stuff because actually truly active on here since just before the countdown to Fleur De Louve 2021.

Tumblr regularly confounds me, even though I’m not new to all this. 😄

"Queue" is one of the features Tumblr provides which, if I'm not mistaken, is unique to only Tumblr. You can find it under the tab for "Drafts" on both desktop and on the mobile app. The "Queue" allows you to schedule posts for your blog that will post automatically even when you're not online. It is what we do on this blog. You might often find some people tag their queued posts.

When we say "contribute to the queue" we just mean to add posts to the queue feature of this blog. Whether it is reblogs of posts already from this blog, new posts, games, meta, questions, or whatever have you. We would just like to keep a stream of content for fellow SarahBucky lovers.
