To add another layer of tragedy to Geto's "Fall" is just how poorly SaShiSu communicated with each other post-Toji.
Before everything fell apart for them, SaShiSu are in harmony with one another:
Satoru is the impulsive loudmouth assuming anything and everything.
Suguru is the responsible caretaker silently analyzing everything.
Shoko is the unbiased, unflappable, and supportive observer.
They play each other off really well as seen in EP 1* Basketball Scene.
Satoru instigates trouble.
Suguru was ready to rein him in.
Shoko leaves them to hash it out themselves (and presumably heal their beaten asses later).
Their trio just works. They understand each other and react accordingly.
However, Suguru changed post-Toji. He went out of sync and neither Satoru nor Shoko noticed. Their dynamics here backfired.
Satoru is assumptious. As far as he was concerned, Suguru was okay because his image of him as his "equal" never shattered. Satoru assumed that Suguru is still keeping up with him - that they are still the Strongest together. He never noticed that Suguru is faltering because he was blind to it.
Shoko is reactive. She never really takes the initiative with Satoru and Suguru. She always leaves others to their own businesses and only comes in to help during the aftermath or when asked to without judgement. She may have noticed Suguru is struggling but waited for him do or say something about it first.
Suguru is a martyr. Being the "responsible one" meant he cannot be a bother to Satoru and Shoko. He would rather wrestle his own demons alone than show weakness to them because if he did, then what else is he? What would be his role in their relationship? So, he suffered in silence.
Suguru changed but he tried to maintain his old dynamic with his friends. Meanwhile, Satoru was too comfortable to notice the change and Shoko was too patient to adapt to it.
SaShiSu were rendered unable to communicate properly their needs and care for each other until they broke apart.
Tumblr media
This is a problem which, frankly, I think still plagues Shoko and Satoru in the current time.
Shoko remains a steadfast and stalwart friend. She always has Satoru's back even if it was against the higher ups.
But she still waits for Satoru to reach out and ask for her first. She is still unable to take the initiative in their interactions. Hence, she felt like Satoru is not truly seeing her support.
Satoru is still an assumptious friend who respects and relies on Shoko's strength - as their resident doctor and his "rock". He likely never thought that Shoko needed his overt appreciation and reassurance of their relationship.
Shoko also trusts him. Satoru draws confidence from that. So he'd most assuredly wouldn't show any vulnerability to worry her even if he wants to. He didn't want to break her trust.
In short, SaShi are two emotionally constipated fools that are still communicating poorly with each other. What a pair of painfully mutually pining friends. They should be locked up somewhere together so they can hash things out between them.
I mean, look at these two. They walk so far apart from each other.
Tumblr media
And yet, they are keeping up with each other's pace.
Tumblr media
Just talk with each each other for real. Please 😭

they could never make me hate you Shoko Ieiri
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shoko is such a tragic character (and to me, the most relatable character in jjk (lolol the numbly depressed med student is jumping out))
she gets a lot of shit for her apathy but to be honest, there’s not much else she can do to protect herself
Shoko has been patching people up and doing autopsies since she was in school. Out of the entire cast of characters, she is probably the one who has the clearest view of how many of her fellow sorcerers die and/or are seriously injured in battle… it is a decently well documented phenomenon that working in healthcare lowers your active empathy levels, as a defense mechanism to distance yourself from all of the pain and loss you are confronted with on a daily basis… it is another fact that in most if not all countries, there are strict laws in place to prevent doctors and other medical professionals from treating their close friends and relatives
Shoko never had that protection… Jujutsu society is small and everyone knows everyone, she is in a position where she is constantly having to stay calm and level headed while her friends and comrades and injured and dying …
in addition to that Shoko, as their best healer, has always been taught to take a passive role in the action (she wasn’t sent out on dangerous missions, she had to stay back during Shibuya etc)
getting emotional over any of this wasn’t going to help her, or anyone else for that matter
Shoko grew up between Gojo and Geto, two once in a generation (once in a century in Gojo’s case) powerhouses who were both highly emotional in their own ways (cue the clip of her leaving the gym when the two were bickering in the hidden inventory arc)
She isn’t like them, and she CANT be like them, cause it would be detrimental to her role in the team
she does not GET to be emotional, so she trained herself out of it till it became second nature
when Geto defected, she did not rage at him or fight him cause there wouldn’t have been a point… she is not a fighter, she knows him well enough to know she is not in direct danger as long as she doesn’t attack first and arguing with him would not have done either of them any good… so she has a last casual conversation with him and calls Satoru, who is the only person who could actually do anything about the situation (either in an argument or in a physical fight)
when he left, all she could do was stay there with Gojo (and she is silently hurt that he never leans on her but she also can’t make him open up against his will)
it’s lonely at the top, but it’s lonely in the morgue too
then, years later, Geto initiated the Night parade of a hundred Demons, forcing Gojo to execute him… we don’t know if Shoko ever saw his body after his death (if Gojo took it to her and didn’t let her cremate him or if he didn’t take Geto’s body to her at all), either way, it can’t have been easy
less than a year later, Gojo is sealed and we see Shoko’s thoughts, about how Gojo felt alone despite the fact that she was there too and that (in my interpretation) they are all monsters on some level (Gojo doesn’t have to be the only monster) waiting for him to come back to them
and when he does come back, (according to Shoko’s own prediction) possibly questionable mental state) he immediately throws himself back into a fight with their two strongest enemies
and for the first time… everyone has to consider the possibility of Satoru Gojo losing… and the students even say, it’s hard to react appropriately cause the possibility of him losing is such a foreign concept
and now to their back up plan for when he does…(the thing my girl gets the most shit for)
Shoko not protesting is rooted in multiple things:
1) They are up against Sukuna and this is the only plan they have in the event of Gojo’s death… if they don’t use every trump card in their deck they WILL die (hence why Yuuta is upset… he is not upset by Gojo’s body being weaponised, he is upset by others hesitating to sacrifice their own humanity)
2) yes she could protest but it wouldn’t help anyone, the last thing you need in a crisis is your doctor getting emotional, if both of the people involved are alright with the procedure, Shoko’s feelings don’t matter and she knows it too, the last thing they need is for her not to be able to do her job

I've never wrote an ask before and I'm not sure if I'm doing it right lol I love your series I think the MC is absolutely adorable and i saw you needed an idea
So what if... MC has a bit of a high metabolism and just eats a lot
The SSS Squad go out for lunch or just out to hangout in like a little food district or maybe they just see her in like a mall or something just munching away on sum food
And some civilians pass by and just make some judgemental comments about how much she eats and saying that it's unattractive or something
If you don't like the thought of writing it then that's okay too
I love your work ❤️
this thought is sooooo cute!!!!!! id love to write this, and tysm i’m glad u enjoy my series ^_^!!!!
seeing as reader’s mom was sort of strict with what reader ate, this makes sense! since she’s at jujutsu tech, what’s the harm in eating a little more, y’know? she doesn’t have her mom standing over her dictating her diet, soooo. a little junk food won’t hurt, plus gojo said it was on him. so maybe he won’t mind if you get at least three cheeseburgers, would large fries be okay as well?
sashisu are by no means deterred by your big appetite, they’re just happy to see you enjoying yourself. the little hums of satisfaction and the glittering of your eyes has them smitten.
some people see, and they can’t help but snicker. you should have no business chowing down like that. ketchup and salt on your bottom lip, which you don’t hesitate to lick away. your hands are a little messy, but eating burgers has never been clean. at least be civil, they mutter.
gojo is quick to send glares the second their slick comments reach his ears. geto is wiping salt off of the corner of your lips while gojo acts like dog control. it’s endearing really, you’re leaning into geto’s touch, asking if he’d like some. while shoko sips on your milkshake, smiling at you fondly.
the perpetrators quickly scurry off, gojo’s glare making them wish they hadn’t even opened their mouths, humiliation and embarrassment making their faces flush.
gojo turns back to you in satisfaction, immediately acting as if nothing happened in hopes you didn’t notice (you didn’t), and poking a fry at geto’s face just to get him riled up while you all go on about your day. smiling happily.

~the anon with the Toji and chopsticks panel as their favourite~ don't mean to be depressing but another one of my favourite panels of him is the 'Not Zen'in huh? Good for you' one :pensive: in order to lighten the mood i'm also going to mention the panel of Gojo's selfie with the beaten up leader of Q, the panel of the whole SaShiSu squad with Shoko and Geto pointing at Gojo 'Sensei, we're better than pointing fingers at each other!' and basically any SatoSugu panel where they are just besties having fun and being chaotic idiots together :((((((
IT'S THE PANEL ANON AGAIN I NEEDED TO ADD SOMETHING I JUST GOT REALLY SAD CUZ I WAS REMEMBERING HOW FUN THE GOJO PAST ARC WAS LIKE IT WAS SO MUCH FUN AND EVERYTIHNG WAS SO HILARIOUS AND HAPPY UNTIL SUDDENLY IT WASN'T AND I CAN'T EVEN BE MAD AT TOJI CUZ LIKE HAVE YOU SEEN HIM BUT ALSO WILL WE EVER GET TO SEE SATOSUGU BEING GENUINELY HAPPY TOGETHER HAVING FUN EVER AGAIN?? MOST LIKELY NOT, EVEN OUTSIDE OF THE GOJO PAST ARC GOJO LIKES TO PLAY AROUND A LOT AND HAVE FUN AND HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE TOWARDS EVERYTHING BUT HE STILL SEEMS SO LONELY NOW IT'S LIKE HE ONLY KEEPS HIS POSITIVE ATTITUDE TO PUT EVERYONE RELYING ON HIM AT EASE BUT INSIDE HE'S GENUINELY REALLY LONELY AND ALL HE CAN DO IS RELIVE THE BETTER SIDE OF HIS TEENAGE YEARS THROUGH ITAFUSHIKUGI
whenever i think of gojo being like 'nobody should take the events of youth away from them' and nanami being like 'it's not a crime to be a child' i just. oh my god! oh my god! these kids are KIDS. they're CHILDREN. PLEASE!!!! they deserve HAPPINESS!!!!!!! please don't talk to me about gojo's inner loneliness i think he was lonely as a child too (baby gojo looks so SAD when we see him) and i think the Triple S Trio might be the first time he'd gotten to really feel his age and then with what happened to geto im
i need like ten years dont speak to me ;________;

Had Shoko been the one to quit from jujutsu society, I bet Suguru and Satoru would have followed her in a heartbeat no questions asked.
It's not because she is the Strongest or the Moral Compass. The reason would simply be: how bad is the jujutsu society that it shook the resolute Shoko enough that she broke her own neutrality?
Basically:
Shoko: I quit.
Satoru: WTF?! SHOKO WENT OOC!
Suguru: IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!
Shoko: So long, you babies.
Satoru & Suguru: NOOOO! TAKE US WITH YOU!!!

Satoru being a menace the first time Suguru and Shoko took him out in a public amusement park. The spoiled sheltered overpowered Gojo heir kept picking fights with mascots. He thinks they were curses in dire need of exorcism.
Suguru and Shoko were so stressed corralling a feral Satoru.

Shoko messing up Suguru by calling him all the time until he develops a Pavlovian reaction to it. Then she suddenly calls Satoru.
Shoko: Suguru.
Suguru: Yes?
Shoko: Nothing... Suguru!
Suguru: What?
Shoko: Forget about it... Suguru.
Suguru: Shoko...
Shoko: Nevermind.
Suguru: Ok.
Shoko: Suguru!
Suguru: What?!
Shoko: Suguru!
Suguru: Yes?!
Shoko: Suguru!
Suguru: What. Do. You. Want?
Shoko: Suguru. Nothing. Suguru.
Suguru: ...
Shoko: Suguru. Hey. Suguru.
Suguru: ...
Shoko: Suguru... Suguru... Suguru...
Suguru: ...
Shoko: Suguru. Suguru. Suguru. Suguru.
Suguru: ...
Shoko: SATORU!
Suguru: SHOKO SHUT UP!
Satoru (who just entered the classroom): *GASP!* I'M TELLING YAGA! YAGA-SENSEI! SUGURU'S BULLYING SHOKO!
Shoko: *Grins*
Suguru: Shoko, I'm sorry for stealing your last cigarette. I'll buy you a new one. Will you please stop now?
Shoko: Suguru.
Suguru: I'd supply you a month's worth.
Shoko: A quarter.
Suguru: One month.
Shoko: 2 months
Suguru: A month and a half.
Shoko: Deal.
Satoru (returns crying crocodile tears): SUGURU! YAGA-SENSEI DOESN'T BELIEVE ME!

SaShiSu: Honne-tatemae (PART 1)
What is "tatemae" and "honne"? What role do they play with SaShiSu? I'd like to explore these ideas these series of posts.
Now, a few clarifications:
This is not a serious university level research study. Please do not expect equally serious citations.
Aside from the "tatemae" and "honne" definitions plus their significant role in Japanese society, the rest of non-canon/official stuff are purely my opinion. So, if you disagree, it's alright.
Okay, cool? Cool.
TATEMAE & HONNE: A GLIMPSE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, back to "tatemae" and "honne". Simply put:
Tatemae = Facade -> The "face" shown to remain in harmony with society Honne = True feelings -> The real face hidden away from society
"Tatemae" is the "masked self" used to get by and avoid causing trouble to others. "Honne" is the "true self" suppressed deep inside in exchange of being accepted by others easily.
These concepts are vital when living in Japan. It's practically a communal obligation because being in harmony with society is everything there.
"Tatemae" is practiced by everyone EVEN among people with very close relationships because it has to be ensured first that said connection is extremely strong and trusting. The people involved have to become so in tuned with one another that they can read between the lines whenever they interact. So, when people starts showing their "honne", they would just get it without fuss.
SaShiSu: The Disaster Trio
Tumblr media
So, what does "tatemae" and "honne" had to do with SaShiSu? Frankly, I think it is what led to their disastrous end which I talked about a bit in the past. This is kind of an expansion of it.
I'll establish first how I think their honne-tatemae works first. Starting with simplest one:
Satoru
Tumblr media
Satoru has no tatemae to speak of at the beginning. He is crass and rude. He has no filter whatsoever. He shows 100% maximum no chill honne.
If he says "We're strong together" to Suguru, he meant it 100%.
If he displays comfort drawing confidence from Shoko, it is exactly just that. No double meanings or ulterior motives.
Satoru functions in JJK's world with just his honne and a lot of people around him dislikes it - even pre-Toji Suguru admonished him for it.
However, during the Star Plasma Vessel mission, he started to have a semblance of tatemae for Riko's sake. Satoru wanted her to live her last days worry free, so never once did he display any weakness in front of her and Kuroi. The only one privy to that was Suguru.
Even after being stabbed, Satoru kept his bravado: "[I'm strong]. It's fine. [Everything will be okay]." He also used it on Suguru so he'd be dissuaded from backing him up and just focus on helping Riko escape. In a way, this was the foundation of the tatemae Satoru would display for the rest of his life.
However, this tatemae is not a traditional one. It is not put up to maintain societal harmony (aka to please the conservative higher-ups). Satoru put it up as a reassurance for the people that matter to him. He is not doing it to make society happy. It was for the sake of the people he values most.
Another complication is Satoru's tatemae and honne are practically blurred together. He only had to "save face" twice:
The aforementioned reassurance when Toji stabbed him
The happy face he had for his students after he killed Suguru
So, distinguishing Satoru's tatemae from his honne is a nightmare for everyone because his facade is never really tested much. They never saw it crack to help them tell the difference. This means that people just assumes that Satoru is using tatemae all the time to be safe - that he has ulterior motives in everything ranging from annoying to threatening.
In truth tho, Satoru is being real for real. In his perspective, he rarely has to use tatemae. So, technically he is still functioning with no chill honne. Just 99.9% and not the previous 100%. It's not much difference from when he was in school but different enough.
'Satoru shows "honne" 99% of the time. People don't believe it and thinks he is showing "tatemae" instead. Satoru has yet to catch on the misunderstanding of his image.'
Up next! The unexpected disaster of the trio.
Shoko
Tumblr media
If Satoru is honne menace, Shoko is the tatemae nightmare. We never see beyond the surface with her.
Details about Shoko are minimal. A simple answer to that could be that Gege didn't care. But considering his female characters had substantially fleshed out backgrounds (narrative utilization of their characters are a different topic), I think a case can be made that Shoko's little to no display of PoV is intentional - that she always held her true thoughts and feelings very close to her heart and it takes a miracle or the end of the world to even glimpse them.
To put it simply, Shoko is the exact opposite of Satoru. Her tatemae is ironclad 21/7 and her honne is so shrouded that it fools people into thinking that it's actually her tatemae.
Her unflappable personality and neutral stance made her look cool, calm, and collected albeit detached. It is a great facade for her job as their resident doctor & forensics. But it is terrible for her relationships because everyone thinks that is all there is to her and leave her alone to it.
'Shoko shows "tatemae" nearly all the time. Compounded by the fact that she is rarely seen off-work and without her poker face, people assume she is always like that. No one tries to understand her "honne" because they believe she is already showing "honne". She has yet to show skills in refuting the wrong perception.'
Lastly, this fucker who I absolutely love but really really needs help. The poster boy of honne-tatemae:
Suguru
Tumblr media
Satoru and Shoko are two awful cases of honne and tatemae on steroids. Suguru is the one who uses these concepts very well much to his advantage and detriment.
I think it was mentioned before that, officially, it is actually Suguru who is much more popular than Satoru. It is not hard to see why in a Japanese society.
Suguru is the epitome of an ideal man in Japan from his looks down to his behavior: tall, dark, handsome, and very appropriately polite in public but refreshingly fun in private.
Suguru fits the Japanese ideal especially for that last factor. He knows how to properly show tatemae and honne. In front of authorities and strangers, he is the prim and proper stand-up guy aka "dutiful model sorcerer". However, among friends, he is as much of a nasty gremlin as Satoru albeit more agreeable. The contrast makes him charismatic which is a great boon for his work and relationships.
At the same time, since everyone knows his tatemae, he has basically boxed himself in a particular role publicly. This was not a hardship at first for Suguru because his facade is in line with his true feelings. It just all fell apart post-Toji because the experience transformed his honne into something so antithetical to his tatemae.
Suguru grappled with that incompatibility for more than a year until eventually, he came to a decision to discard his tatemae of "dutiful model sorcerer" by becoming a mass killing curse user.
Does this mean Suguru is now living like pre-Toji Satoru - just 100% maximum no chill honne? No. Absolutely not.
In fact, Suguru displayed his honne-tatemae on a much grander scale instead.
Tatemae = Ordinary Facade World of Non-Sorcerers = A helpful monk Honne = Cursed True World of Sorcerers = A genocidal curse user.
Even on a micro-level within his new family, Suguru also maintains another layer of honne-tatemae which seems to be only Satoru, Shoko (maybe), Nanako, and Mimiko were privy to.
Tatemae = Jujutsu sorcerers, especially those from school like Satoru, are his bitter enemies. Honne = He actually has no hard feelings against jujutsu sorcerers and their enmity is just simply a difference of mindset.
'Suguru is a master class of how "tatemae" and "honne" works. Unlike Shoko, he is in full control of how he presents himself. Unlike Satoru, he is also in full control of how *most people perceive him.'
*I say "most people" here because Suguru failed to control how Satoru and Shoko view him. He was absolutely delusional at thinking he succeeded at it. What a dumbass. I'll explore it next time in PART 2. This post is already long as it is. I'll just leave it as PART 1.

One time, Suguru and Shoko had the idea of torturing Satoru with cookies in his image. Their logic was that he would be too egoistic to eat them. He would agonize on how to eat the sweet treat. It would be amazing!
So, the two of them spent an entire day trying to make the cookies. They sacrificed the newly introduced first years to Satoru's tender care and attention. But it was all in vain.
Suguru and Shoko failed. They ended up ordering a bakery to do it for them.
Once presented to Satoru, he just beamed and crowed in absolute joy at having his ego stroked (inadvertently). He held back no lewd jokes either.
"Oooh. You guys wondered how I taste like? You're making me blush~"
It was at this point that Shoko and Suguru realized that they may have miscalculated their prank. Satoru has no shame and demolished everything but left them one cookie each.
"Tragically, I'm not into cannibalism so despite your humble offerings I won't allow you to taste me but-"
At that point, Suguru just crushed his own cookie into crumbles and promptly chomped Satoru's hand.
Shoko's contribution to the chaos, which was very rare, was to prevent Satoru from running away by tripping him.
Satoru fell but took his two friends with him. They continued their squabble on the floor.
As for the traumatized first-years, they were horrified to see Suguru and Shoko go at Satoru like zombies on fresh living human meat.
Their senpais are crazy.

I wonder how Satoru and Suguru would fare against curses from famous horror movies like Ringu and Ju-On.
I don't think it would turn out well if Satoru gets a hold of the Lament Configuration or the Book of the Dead.
Maybe a curse gets Satoru and Suguru stuck through a list of assorted movies. They have to survive each one until the end. The only way for them to get out and exorcise the curse is for someone "outside" to watch them all without rest or sleep.
Heh. Shoko rescues Satoru and Suguru while exorcising the semi-special grade curse by movie marathoning*. She'd never let them live it down.**
*Some of those movies are part of the collection Itadori had to watch for training.
**One movie turned Satoru into a cat and engaged to a cat prince. Another had Suguru running from a sex depraved alien-human hybrid. Shoko almost died laughing her ass off.

The Juju Stroll has been translated!!!!!
SASHISU SQUAD! YAGA FANS! RISE UP! WE ARE GETTING FED GOOD!
OMFG
I love this so much.
All this time... YAGA HAS PASSED HIS OWN GREMLINESS TO SATORU AS A TEACHER! Yaga made his own enemy and caused a lot of stress on Satoru's future students. Satoru's randomness was Yaga's legacy all along!
Shoko is so cool. She sounds so cool, calm, collected, and so fucking done. This drama is further feeding into my headcanon that she is a biker girl. I mean in the Akari ED I think it showed that she has a Vespa.
Suguru is so fucking funny. He had all the hallmarks of a successful scammer with his cool naming sense for groups and products. No wonder his cult thrived. He is also a certified teacher's pet no matter how much he denies it!
The ending is so fucking funny. Suguru winning lots of stuff toys (aka cursed corpses) made out of love~. Shoko and Satoru roasting him for it. Yaga bestowing to Suguru his, by all means, babies and asking him to take good care of them. Suguru getting so stressed.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
It's so good to be a Sashisu fan and a Yaga fan today.
