Am 16. und 17. August 2025 findet der erste Germany Sail Grand Prix an der pommerschen Küste vor Rügen statt, bei dem die schnellsten Katamarane der Welt gegeneinander antreten. Die Veranstaltung wird durch eine Partnerschaft mit dem ZDF live übertragen.

The pier lights of Sassnitz are located at the pier heads of Sassnitz town harbour on the island of Rügen.

Since 1903, the ♁ first lighthouse, a white round tower with a black lantern house, stood on the eastern pier, which was 350 metres shorter at the time. The pier was extended southwards in 1937 to become the longest outer pier in Europe. This meant that the old tower had to be replaced by a new lighthouse. This lighthouse is an octagonal steel tower with a cantilevered, wrap-around balcony on the lantern house. The lighthouse, which is over 15 metres high, is green with a white band and is visible to incoming ships on the starboard side. Since 1982, the IALA regulations have applied internationally for the labelling of sea lanes. The fire beam is located at a height of 12 metres above sea level and enables a height of fire of 15 metres. A red light sector facing north-east warns shipping at night of a dangerous approach to the famous chalk cliffs of Rügen.
