Dugong or sea cows are an endangered species, plump like the manatees but bearing tails similar to that of dolphins. Also known as the state animal of the Andamans, they inhabit the waters of little Andamans. The Ministry of Environment and Forests has approved for the recovery of Dugongs to prevent their extinction.Remembering Andaman's native sea animal on the occasion of World Aquatic Animals Day tomorrow.

Lacoste and IUCN Save Our Species have once again teamed up to create limited edition polo shirts for charity.
The number of polos for each species represents the estimated number of specimens remaining in the wild. All profits from the sale of all items across those stores on that day will go to help IUCN conserve threatened wildlife.

So very beautiful and so very precious! ... ... ... #waterlandyou ... ... #repost #reposting Posted @withrepost • @discoverocean The leatherback turtle is the largest sea turtle species on earth ranging from 4-8 feet in length and can weigh up to 900kg. They propel through the water using their powerful front flippers that can span up to 3m, while their rear flippers are used to aid with direction (Lasala, 2018). Leatherbacks have delicate jaws meaning they can only eat soft bodied animals such as jellyfish which are composed of mainly water with poor nutrients. Similarly to other species of turtle, leatherbacks migrate extreme distances for breeding and feeding purposes, travelling as far as 10,000 miles across the pacific (Eckert, 2002). Despite this species persisting for over 100 million years, the pacific population of leatherback sea turtles (Dermochelys coriacea) has dramatically declined in the last 25 years which has been linked to fisheries, meat harvesting and in more recent years climate variability (Jones, 2012). Recent studies of climate change projections show that with increased ocean temperatures many sea turtle behaviours have been altered such as nesting times which may lead to altered incubation conditions, breeding success, hatchling dispersal and even sex ratio (Tomillo, 2015). Wastern Pacific leatherback populations have plummeted more than 80% along with Eastern pacific leatherback declining by more than 97% (NOAA, 2016). Many organisations are working hard on solutions to #climate #change and effects it may have on species including the leatherback turtle. Conservation actions are needed for the survival of this species and many others so get involved and do your part to #ReduceClimateChange. #Conservation #Protect #helpsavesharks #saveourspecies #savetheocean #marineresearch Words by @sarwren/ Video: by @surftobago https://www.instagram.com/p/B2FjGdLFqid/?igshid=34ce7mw9u5ny

Rhinos were once found throughout Eurasia and Africa, but today, three of the five rhino species are Critically Endangered, meaning they face a high chance of extinction. In recent years rhino numbers have dropped dramatically due to poaching for their horn which is prized in Asian countries. They also face threats from habitat loss and political conflict. #savetherhino #savetherhinos #rhinopoachingawareness #rhinoawareness #saveourspecies #extinction #pathhc https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw6jZecAiY5/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1hkf0sdkjp07v

This Effervescent Soul Enlocked within our flesh- must we always spend our time unhappy? Do we crave comfort and pleasure so much that we are too afraid to see just over the wall. A paradise that could make us much happier and prosperous as a species. It is unintuitive to look at this wall and jump over it. You must be patient enough to realize the wall will shrink for you the longer you wait. Deepen your connection with yourself and stay away from cheap pleasures that we surround ourselves with everyday. Eat less, work out in the morning instead of drinking coffee. Eat lots of raw vegetables. There needs to be a shift in our culture here in the states. For our species, for our loved ones, for the intelligence that will inherit this planet after we are all gone. Lets make a place where it is not only enjoyable to live but deeply creative complex simple and beautiful all at the same time.

Lacoste’s historic move to swap its iconic crocodile logo The total number of the limited edition polos corresponds to the number of each endangered species left in the wild
To show support to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Lacoste is removing its iconic grinning crocodile logo for its new line of polos. Instead, several of the world’s current endangered animals would be taking its spot.
This three-year long partnership between Lacoste and IUCN, named “Save Our Species”, shines the spotlight on 10 different endangered species which would individually appear in a series of limited edition polo shirts. This marks the very first time the brand has pushed forth for a logo change. More importantly, the number of shirts available for sale reflects the number of each species that remain in the wild. A total of 1775 polo shirts have been created and was launched during  Lacoste’s fashion show in Paris.  Each sale will go towards the preservation of the species.
