VIDEO: My SBIFF ’19 Interviews With ‘THE BIRD CATCHER’ Stars and Filmmakers At this past weekend's #SantaBarbaraInternationalFilmFestival #SBIFF #SBIFF2019, I had the opportunity to cover the red carpet premiere for narrative feature film "The Bird Catcher" at the Lobero Theatre where I interviewed director Ross Clarke’s (“Desiree,” “Nowhere Boy”) and some of the actors including Jakob Cedergren (“The Guilty,” Submarino”) and Arthur Hakalahti (“The King’s Choice,” “Skam”) along with screenwriter Trond Morten Kristensen and also producer & SBIFF Alumni Lisa G.

Hoje faz 1 ano que Rami ganhou mais um prêmio de prestígio. O Festival Internacional de Cinema de Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara International Film Festival - SBIFF) é um evento de cinema realizado em Santa Barbara, Califórnia. Em 2019 a 34a edição da cerimônia aconteceu entre 31 de janeiro e 9 de fevereiro, sendo o dia 1° de fevereiro totalmente dedicado ao Rami Malek! Ele recebeu o Outstanding Performer of the Year Award (Prêmio de Melhor Atuação do Ano), uma grande honra!! Esse tributo foi criado para homenagear o ator ou a atriz cujo papel em um filme excedeu a grandeza - o prêmio é concedido ao melhor desempenho do ano. Segundo o diretor executivo do SBIFF, Roger Durling: “O retrato de Rami Malek como Freddie Mercury é humilde e cheio de humanidade. Ninguém poderia expressar a alegria que Freddie sentiu ao se apresentar nem a complexa realidade que ele viveu nos bastidores melhor do que Rami.” Antes da premiação, Rami conversou com Scott Feinberg, do The Hollywood Reporter, que disse nunca ter visto uma reação como a do publico que ali estava. A plateia estava ávida para ver e ouvir aquele norte-americano de origem egípcia. Em seguida, Joe Mazzello entrou no palco para entregar o prémio ao amigo e fez um discurso emocionante. Disse que ele e Rami passaram por dificuldades tanto no set de The Pacific (por causa da greve dos roteiristas em 2010) quanto no set de Bohemian Rhapsody, mas que aprendeu a não se preocupar. Nas duas ocasiões os atores se uniram, se apoiaram, para passar pela situação, e Joe sabia que enquanto tivessem Rami, fariam um trabalho fantástico. E completou: "foi uma alegria e um privilégio compartilhar a tela novamente com o homem que a torna grande." Rami recebeu seu prêmio com a graça, a gentileza e a doçura que lhe são tão peculiares, agradecendo ao amigo, ao festival, e também a todos os envolvidos com a produção de Bohemian Rhapsody. 1° de fevereiro de 2019, dia da 34a edição do Festival Internacional de Cinema de Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara International Film Festival - SBIFF). Naquela noite, há 2 anos, o painel da entrada do Arlington Theatre mostrava qual seria o prêmio - Outstanding Performer (Melhor Ator) - e quem o receberia - nosso querido Rami!! Mas qual a tradução da palavra "outstanding"? Brilhante, diferenciado, excelente, excepcional, extraordinário, formidável, incrível, inigualável, marcante, notável, ótimo, perfeito, surpreendente. Todos esses adjetivos são perfeitos para ele, não é mesmo?!! 😍 Antes da premiação, Rami teve um descontraído bate-papo com Scott Feinberg, do The Hollywood Reporter. Em seguida, Joe Mazzello veio ao palco e fez um lindo discurso em homenagem ao "velho" amigo (Joe e Rami se conheceram ao atuarem na série The Pacific, em 2010).
