Situated in the north part of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, Falls of Falloch is a beautiful waterfall with a popular beauty spot for picnic. The falls boasts a prime location just over three miles from the village of Crianlarich which makes the site a useful stopping point or brief leg-stretcher if travelling on the A82. Standing at 30 ft high and with the River Falloch passing through Glen Falloch as it makes its way towards Loch Lomond at Ardlui, Falls of Falloch is a truly entrancing site set in a peaceful glen. #Scotlandtime #Scotland #fallsoffalloch @sastal01 #Water #waterfall #river (at Falls Of Falloch, Loch Lomond) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqdBcJiHFkg/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=thhuhu998zre

Day 103 of 365 Photo Challenge. The Kelpies are 30-metre-high horse-head sculptures depicting kelpies (shape-shifting water spirits), standing next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal, and near River Carron, in The Helix, a new parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Council Area, Scotland. The sculptures were designed by sculptor Andy Scott and were completed in October 2013. The sculptures form a gateway at the eastern entrance to the Forth and Clyde canal, and the new canal extension built as part of The Helix land transformation project. The Kelpies are a monument to horse powered heritage across Scotland. The sculptures were opened to the public in October 2013. As part of the project, they will have their own visitor centre, and sit beside a newly developed canal turning pool and extension. This canal extension reconnects the Forth and Clyde Canal with the River Forth, and improves navigation between the East and West of Scotland. The name was chosen by Scottish Canals at the inception of The Helix project, in 2005. The Kelpies name reflected the mythological transforming beasts possessing the strength and endurance of 10 horses; a quality that is analogous with the transformational change and endurance of Scotland's inland waterways. The Kelpies represent the lineage of the heavy horse of Scottish industry and economy, pulling the wagons, ploughs, barges and coalships that shaped the geographical layout of the Falkirk area. #365photochallenge #photooftheday #photography #nikonphotos #tamron #nikonD5200 #Falkirk #Scotland #scotsmag #Scotlandtime #visitscotland #thekelpies #kelpies @thekelpies #andyscott #statue #andyscottsculpture #forthandclydecanal #thehelix #helix #heritage (at Falkirk Kelpies) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwNjo_WjkJO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=15wvuuev7v0vf

Day 98 of 365 Photo Challenge. Ibrox Parish Church is a parish church of the Church of Scotland, serving the Ibrox, and to a lesser extent the Cessnock areas of Glasgow, Scotland next to the M8 motorway. The Church and parish sits within the Church of Scotland's Presbytery of Glasgow, and provides numerous activities in the local and wider community. The history of the church dates back to 1863 when the Kirk Session of Govan Old Parish Church made the church one of her many daughters to help serve the expanding southside of Glasgow as "Bellahouston Parish Church". The sanctuary was built using money from Moses Steven, a wealthy entrepreneur, and designed by James Smith. In 1898 the two transepts were added to the original building, making it the cruciform shape after two unions with neighbouring churches, Steven Memorial in 1969 and Ibrox in 1978. In 1978 the church name was officially changed to Ibrox Parish Church. The building is Category B listed. Over the years, there have been many alterations and upgradings to the overall building complex, including a Link Block with an office and board room between the sanctuary and the church halls. In addition to other artistic features and church furnishings, the building had until 2009 an original French Cavaille-Coll, one of two in Scotland: the other at Paisley Abbey. In 2002, the church was used as one of the locations for the film Man Dancin'. #365photochallenge #photooftheday #photography #nikonphotos #tamron #nikonD5200 #Glasgow #Ibrox #church #oldbuilding #historical #clouds #religiousbuilding #religion #blackandwhitephotography @sastal01 @scots_magazine #Scotland #Scotlandtime #presbyterian #presbyterianchurch #churchofScotland (at Ibrox Parish Church) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwAdGc5j6kT/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=185wtfkhciwjc

Day 61 of 365 Photo Challenge, Thomas "Tom" Weir MBE (29 December 1914 – 6 July 2006) was a Scottish climber, author and broadcaster. He was best known for his long-running television series Weir's Way. Weir was born in Springburn, Glasgow, and the younger brother of the actress Molly Weir. After service in the Royal Artillery during World War II, he worked as a surveyor for the Ordnance Survey, before commencing a full-time career as a climber, writer and photographer. In 1950 he was a member of the first post-war Himalayan expedition and, in 1952, was one of the first to explore the previously closed mountain ranges of Nepal, east of Kathmandu. Weir became a pioneering campaigner for the protection of the Scottish environment, and wrote a column for The Scots Magazine for over 50 years. From 1976–1987, he hosted the Scottish Television series Weir's Way, meeting the people of Scotland, exploring the landscape and its natural history. When STV repeated the series during the late night slot from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s it managed to achieve 30% audience share. The series is now available on DVD in the UK. Weir won the Scottish Television 'Personality of the Year Award' in 1976. He was appointed MBE in 1976. He lived in Gartocharn and in 2000 he was awarded the inaugural John Muir Lifetime Achievement Award by the John Muir Trust in recognition of his environmental work. He is also celebrated in the song "Tom Weir" written by Edinburgh musician Sandy Wright and performed by the band Aberfeldy. And in 2007, L. Pierre wrote an ambient instrumental song, "Weir's Way", featured on his album, "Dip". Weir was buried on 17 July 2006 in Kilmaronock Parish Church, near Drymen.
