My diet for the last three weeks has resembled that of Buddy the Elf and what better way to finish it off with Nutella laden french toast with banana, strawberries and blueberries at Number 1082 Coffeehouse. Sunday roast appreciation post 🥩🥔 We went to @number2montgomery for Sunday lunch today. Roast beef with all the trimmings including cauliflor cheese 🤤. The meat was so thick, it was like a steak and perfectly cooked. Particularly loved the roast potatoes and honey carrots but it was all so good 😋. Finished off with apple and berry crumble and ice cream. The crumble was predominately fruit and quite sharp, I really liked it but if you like a sweet crumble, I’d pick something else. 2 courses for £17 or 3 for £22. Terrific value for what you get. The staff were really lovely, the restaurant was relaxed and airy and overall lovely vibe. I won the @stackandstill Snap Your Stack competition last month where you can win a signature short stack of your choosing. I had the Nutella short stack which was incredible (i’m a big stack & still fan by anyone’s standards). Nutella, white chocolate sauce, toffee sauce, mascarpone and Crunchie which was starting to melt 😋. 📍Howies, Waterloo Place, Edinburgh ▪️ Smoked Mackerel Pate ▪️ Venison & Mushroom Casserole ▪️ Howies Famous Banoffee Pie (I added ice cream) We started with bread & olives which were delicious. Overall the food was great, really tasty and good portions. Disappointed in the Banoffee pie (it being my favourite), way too much cream and way too little Banoffee. I tried some of the Sticky Toffee Pudding and that was miles better. Service and ambience was also great, we weren’t rushed for our table. Good location, 5 minute walk from Waverley.
