Sundays just got quintessentially more British at Newport World Resorts as Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill Philippines recently launched their new Sunday Roast. The Sunday Roast is a traditional British affair which features roasted meats and potatoes together with Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Now, we can all experience the same British Sunday gathering here in Manila.

What better way to spend our Sunday than with our families, right? That's why we invited our family to join us at Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill last week to experience this new Sunday Roast. This is our second time to visit their Philippine branch after we dined here on their opening day (Read: Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill Opens First Restaurant in the Philippines at Newport World Resorts), but it's the first time for the rest of the family so we were excited to show them all the wonderful dishes they can try.

Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill is just one of the many restaurant brands of world-renowned multi-Michelin starred Chef, Gordon Ramsay. The first outlet in the Philippines is part of the ever-expanding network of Gordon Ramsay Restaurants – with over 80 restaurants globally and a total of eight Michelin stars across their network. It was another full house that Sunday so good thing we made our reservations early.

Chef Gordon recently visited the country a few weeks ago and we were lucky to be one of the few guests to be invited to his exclusive event (Read: Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay Makes First Philippine Appearance at Newport World Resorts). The Sunday Roast (P3,888) is one of their new offerings which started last February 16, 2025. This is actually a set which includes a soup, a main dish, and a dessert.

Complimentary bread and butter are served on each table. These soft rolls are refillable so you can enjoy as much as you like.

The Sunday Roast starts with a Pea & Asparagus Soup which is served with crème fraîche and pea shoots. It's a good and healthy way to begin this decadent lunch.

Then it's time to enjoy the beautiful Sunday Roast Beef featuring a medium rare Black Opal Beef Striploin. This is served with beef-fat roasted potatoes, gravy, and horseradish cream, alongside unlimited servings of crispy Yorkshire pudding with green beans and watercress. The beef is so tender and goes well with the gravy. While you can get more servings of the bread pudding, one is actually good enough. There is also an option to add a serving of Roasted Pork Belly which we probably should have done.

For dessert, there is a choice of Sticky Toffee Pudding or Chocolate Tart to complete the lavish meal.

The Sticky Toffee Pudding is a British dessert made with moist sponge cake and sweet butterscotch sauce served with Vanilla ice cream. This is actually good enough to share for two persons and is our favorite dessert at Gordon Ramsay.

On the other hand, the 64% Manjari Chocolate Tart comes with Vanilla ice cream, honeycomb, Maldon sea salt, and extra virgin olive oil. This is a rich chocolate tart that kids and adults will love. Gordon Ramsay’s signature Sunday Roast is available every Sunday for lunch and dinner.

Since we were in a big group, this was our chance to try all the other interesting dishes on the menu which we could share with the table.

For appetizers, we ordered the Classic Caesar Salad (P650) which comes with 36-months aged Parmesan, slow-cooked egg, anchovy, and croutons. My mother-in-law loved this colorful salad.

We also tried the Pink Peppercorn Squid (P600) which are so crispy and tasty. These deep-fried squid are served with curry-spiced mayo but the poppers are actually already good by themselves.

The Crispy Crab Cake & Caviar (P880) is one of the highly recommended items at Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill. This crispy pan fried crab cake comes topped with poached hen’s egg and doused with creamy hollandaise sauce. To make it even more extravagant, caviar is added on top to crown this beautiful dish. You can really taste the delicious crab meat that was seasoned very well. The serving is actually big enough to share for two persons.

What we did not know before was that kids dine for FREE at Gordon Ramsay! Dine with the whole family and kids aged 8 years and under eat for FREE when they order from the Ramsay Kids Menu. Each kid can get a free dish when you order one main adult dish. Little Coley chose the Chicken Tenders with Fries for his kid's meal.

We weren't able to try this before, so we made sure to order the Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips (P1,999) this time. This Manila version of the British favorite comes with a deep-fried perfectly battered pink grouper, Koffmann’s thick-cut fries, crushed peas and served with tartare sauce. I think I like the cod version a little more when I visit other countries, but the grouper also has its unique qualities.

The main attraction and the highlight of any visit to Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants is definitely their Beef Wellington. Gordon’s Signature Beef Wellington (P3888) is an exquisitely plated slice of MB7 Wagyu beef fillet wrapped in a layer of mushroom and truffle duxelles, encased within a buttery gold, flaky pastry, served with creamed potato and finished with a drizzle of red wine jus. The flaky puff pastry is what sets this apart from other steak dishes. It takes great skill and technique to prepare this traditional English recipe that also comes with French influences. The dish is actually named after the first Duke of Wellington after his victory in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.

There were other main dishes we wanted to try so we also ordered the Iberico Pork Secreto (P1,988). It comes with 350 grams of tender Iberico Secreto which is often called the wagyu of pork. This very tender and flavorful pork comes from a thin cut of meat hidden behind the shoulder blade of an Iberico pig. It also comes with a beef-braised onion on the plate.

Another highlight dish is the Grain-fed Wagyu Striploin MB5 (P4,800). This juicy 350 gram steak is topped with Café de Paris butter and also a beef-braised onion. The beef was well-seasoned and so flavorful.

For our other desserts, we highly recommend ordering the Caramelised Apple Tart Tatin (P780) which is big enough to share with four persons. The apple slices are so good, it's like eating soft candied apples. It comes with Vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce on the side.

Lastly, we also tried what Chef Gordon called the British version of the halo-halo, the Knickerbocker Glory (P590). This huge sundae comes with Toffee ice cream, Diplomat cream, blackberry compôte, and blackberry sorbet. You're supposed to mix everything together inside, much like what we do with our halo-halo. We really enjoyed our delicious Sunday afternoon at Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill. Everyone loved their orders, even the kids, so I'm sure we will be back here again, hopefully when Chef Gordon makes another surprise appearance.

Building on this momentum, Wendy's has unveiled ambitious plans to expand to 400 locations throughout the UK. This expansion will encompass regions such as the North, Midlands, Southeast, Southwest, and London. The initiative is expected to generate approximately 120 jobs in the initial phase, with a development agreement in place with franchise organization Khidmat Limited to facilitate growth in the Southwest. For those of you that don't know, Guy Ritchie the director has his own pub in London and it's called Lore of the Land. We'd heard that it did a mean Sunday lunch so with our love of a good Sunday roast, we headed on down.

Now if you're going to own a pub, you might as well go the whole hog and make your own beer. Guy Ritchie clearly thought so as he has stocked his own pub with his own brand of Gritchie beer. I had a pale ale and it's pretty good!

We started foodwise with a pub classic; the scotch egg. You can see from the photo that the egg is perfectly jammy which is a clear sign of a well cooked scotch egg. The sausage meat on the outside was perfectly spiced and it had a super crispy coating. That's pretty much everything you need in a scotch egg all in one!

Then it was onto the roast. You can get the option of trying 2 meats so we went with pork and lamb. The lamb was perfectly cooked and so was the pork. It came with a super crispy layer of crackling and a good layer of fat. The yorkshire was pretty impressive but theh other sides were a little disappointing. The potatoes weren't bad but nothing special but we didn't like the veg. It was all a little strangely sweet and the spice mix used on it didn't really work for us.

For dessert, we had this big fat profiterole type thing. The best thing about this was the cream filling which was slightly sweet and the topping. Not sure exactly what it was but it was a caramel sauce with this slightly malty flavoured crispy stopping. The whole thing was sweet but also surprisingly light; this is a low key contender for best part of the meal.
Guy Ritchie has definitely bought himself a pub and instilled a fair amount of his personality into it in that it feels like an old fashioned London pub. When the worst thing about a Sunday roast is the veg, you know that they have their priorities right at least. And then with a surprisingly good, if slightly simple, dessert, this place is worth a visit!
