Yours an oath in blood you'll never be able to escape, not like her loving dedication. You may have found redemption and purpose in the Order, maybe even a home before it was lost. It doesn't matter whether you read Castoria and Oberon's relationship as platonic, romantic, or even famillial. What you NEED to understand is that Castoria has 0% respect for the moth. She doesn't look up to him in the slightest. She called him a scoudrel and an enemy of women within two arrows of meeting him, and two arrows later she wrestled him to the ground in front of Aurora. "Merlin" was a mentor to her but Oberon is not.

such an interesting exchange because this is a thread throughout the whole episode - everyone wondering - or making assumptions about - why, exactly, mal let simon and river stay on board. (which checks out timeline wise. i don't think we're supposed to assume more than a few days, at most, have occurred between the pilot and now.)

here, simon makes the assumption that it's because he is useful as medical personnel. which is not an unfair assumption; that IS part of it, and it's how mal frames it to him. but it's certainly not the only reason; they got on alright without a doctor on board prior to this. i do think that having a doctor on board is very useful, because mal and zoe are not trained medics, even though they have field experience, and there is realistically only so much they can do. even still - it's not the only reason.

book, of course, outright asks mal why he did it. he is trying to work mal out, and, i think, trying to get mal to admit something he really doesn't want to.

jayne assumes that the only way mal would allow them to stay is if he planned to turn them in and get something out of it. this says a lot about jayne - not only his own worldview, but that he thinks mal is much more like him than he actually is.

kaylee, of course, doesn't think mal is even considering it, and considers it a deeply immoral idea. says something about what she thinks of mal, too - and whedon's been quoted as saying he intentionally wrote kaylee as a character whose almost a barometer for the audience - she's so lovely and sweet and has a natural charisma, and if she believes something, the show wants you to believe it, too (and when that something turns out not to be the case, something has gone terribly wrong.)

the question of mal's sense of morality is really the central theme of this episode - he may be a thief and a scoudrel, but he has limits, and those limits include stealing medicine from a bunch of sick working class people.

he looks out for him and his own and doesn't like the risk of the alliance on them, so, when it comes to simon and river, why did he let them stay?

mal is trying for sarcasm here, lmao, but really, even though he didn't want to admit it to himself or anyone else: this is the reason. there's no better disguise for a truth you're reluctant to admit than saying it sarcastically!

Tikoh continues to be really cute and I like her a lot. Cupitan, too. Their friendship is very cute. And I like how Cupitan is a genuinely good person with human doubts and fears, especially considering her upbringing. I just like how she's written. She's not overly perfect, but she is very kind

Lavirita is a secret MVP for going along with Fio's ploy tbh. I know he got paid for it, but still. He's a man of his word, if nothing else

It's a bit maddening that they only really explain the event's name at the very end, even if it was kind of heavily implied before

And yeah super agreed on that!! they're really setting him up for it and i truly hope we can take care of him and nurse him back to health :( he deserves so much better than what has happened to his life so far. I'll pat him on the head as well as much as he wants.

and god yeah super agreed. Tikoh is really an interesting character to me because she does really balance this kind and sweet healer but also bloody angry and revengeful behavior very well. But meanwhile she takes care of others and is really sweet with people around her. Cupitan is really interesting as well to me. She is extremely emotive and can be a total mess about her feelings because she lets them overcome her, but it's also super refreshing? there is a trend in fiction of removing this type of embarassing, unstable feelings, while with Cupitan, it furthers her characters a lot. It has her be earnest at all time. I wouldn't say it's always "honest" because she can lie to herself when her feelings hurt her so bad, but also, that's super interesting to see just how much something that is so positive can end up hurting her this bad? And on top of that i really like what she brings to the MS story because all of those kids have been heavily fucked up by their past, and all of them are being as tough as they can, and Cupitan being able to express her emotions and feel their emotions, end up also really grounding back that, actually, their situation is really fucked up!! She's very human and emotive in a way i find really refreshing, and that also helps humanizing the people around her. She's not perfect, but i feel like also the fact her flaws comes from her greatest strength, and the way her emotions are framed to be a powerful thing, whenever those are destructive or helpful, is really a nice take i rarely see, personally, due to how tropes tend to want to have the characters "toughen up" and stuff.

Lavirita is totally a secret MVP for this. He's a man of his word and his word is money and he keeps money close and everything. I really like him? He's a scoudrell but he knows what he wants and he stands by it, which makes him interesting as kinda this loose canon who could be an antagonist as well as an ally as long as it pays well. He's a fun lad.

AND TEE FUCKING HEE. I will ALSO murder Fio's father. Setting up his own death to manipulate his daughter, meanwhile Fio spent her whole life destroying herself for revenge for a man who set her up like this??? oh i'm SO going to kill him. And also he burnt down Kolulu's village and killed all of her adoptive family so it's more reason to have him on the shit list.

Yeah, they really set up Marionette Stars as a saga so this is a first entry type of story. I do look forward to what they'll do with it!

and same as you, i hope we get a continuation and i hope we get to kill those old men as well. fuck them.

i'm still really new to ops, but i'm considering getting into healing for ops (so my guild wont hate me for playing dps all the time lmao) and i was wondering if you had any tips?

hi! yeah sure, i might have some tips :D

1/ i know operative/scoudrels are currently the best healing class on parse, but if you prefer playing as a sorc/sage or as a merc/commando, that’s ok, just pick your favourite & have fun

2/ set your ui to your own liking, it doesn’t matter if it looks weird or messy as long as you understand it

3/ settings : preference > nameplates > always show health bar, it can be helpful

4/ operation frames, these settings are the most important imo

here’s what it looks like (you can see the debuff very clearly)

5/ stats, set bonus and tactical items are very important for ops, and don’t forget augments! advanced augment 45 are my favourite, it’s very affordable and i use these on most of my characters.

on my main healer, it looks like this: you need 3206 alacrity and you don’t have to worry about accuracy, you don’t need that (tho you can use crit/accuracy stims on most ops since power/mastery stims are useless with the level cap)

don’t worry about amplifiers, you don’t need these for story mode content

6/ keybindings! once again, do that to your own liking

7/ have fun :D
