The probe sent back 12 seconds of video from the afterlife, before it was utterly destroyed. 12 seconds which have now united humanity in a desperate search for immortality.

Note
are there any scps or scp writers you’d say you’re drawing inspiration from in terms of general vibes or execution, etc for your scp au? and/or just any media in general
Well, there's DJ Kaktus, as I've mentioned. There will definitely be a few elements from the Kaktusverse in my story. I'll also be pulling a lot from SCP-2922: Notes from the Under, because the few descriptions we've heard of Reya's Realm sound a lot like Corbenic.
Besides that, I'm going to play into the general vibe of a lot of SCPs where the Foundation has noble intentions but often morally dubious methods. And like with any large organization, there is potential for abuse, corruption, and errors in judgement that can be quite costly. SCP-2000 may or may not come up, and certain Groups of Interest may appear down the line, like the Serpent's Hand and the Horizon Initiative.
I'm also toying with some motifs from mythology, both biblical and not, but we'll see what eventually winds up on paper.

Notes From the Under: Wait, I'm dead‽

Series
For the last month or so I've been running a homebrew campaign loosely based on SCP-2922 and a few other SCPs with a group of friends. Now, SCP-2922 is based in an alternate plane that is, for all intents and purposes, an afterlife. Which means the PCs are dead. This was revealed to them by one of the NPCs in the first session. Rather than tell the group how each of them died, I opted to just drop them into the afterlife and have them tell me what killed them. I got some...interesting responses.
Cleric #1 died after licking a rock covered in mold. She has a thing for licking...well, anything. Rocks, stone walls, people, you name it. I had plans to throw them against a stone golem at some point, but now I'm not so sure.
Cleric #2 says he died through valiant means, but later confided to me that he was just trying to cover up an embarrassing demise. Didn't tell me what actually killed him.
The monk died as a result of starvation while in in a meditative state for a long time. I guess asceticism is the new spiritualism.
The blood hunter died on the front lines, trying to save his homeland from imperialist forces. Bash the fash, as they say.
That being said, not all of the NPCs are aware that they are dead. When I told them this, the monk posed a question to the next NPC they met.
Monk: Hey, are you aware that you're dead?
NPC: ...Wait, I'm dead!?
Said NPC proceeded to cry hysterically, causing the monk to feel like a terrible person. The monk is fairly charismatic, but she didn't know that the NPC was unaware of their circumstances.
While I was developing this campaign I was wracking my brain as to how the whole afterlife thing would work, but I think just dropping the PCs there and having them fill in the blanks was the best way to go. Plus it gave me some insight into their characters that I may not have gotten otherwise.
