CUSTOMER CAR! A big thanks to our customer for these photos. A nice choice with the Sparco Sprint FIA Bucket Seats and Fiat Abarth brackets which fit like a glove in the compact cockpit clearing all internal trims. Nice! 🏁😁

Fiat 850, 1964. Designed by Dante Giacosa (Fiat's lead engineer from 1946 to 1970) the 850 replaced the 600 (they sold alongside each other for a time). There were multiple variants of the 850, made by Fiat and numerous Italian coachbuilders, in addition to tuned versions made by Abarth. The 850 was also made in Spain by Seat, in Germany by Neckar and in Bulgaria by Pirin-Fiat. It remained in production in Italy until 1973 where it was replaced by the 127

What is your favorite car? Do you like any of the American muscle cars from the 60's?
So I wrote this out and I tend to over share so just bear with me for just a second 😅
My favorite car is Porsche 997 GT3RS 4.0 I can go on for days why it is but you can google it and figure out pretty quickly why it is.
But to answer your question no, I’m not a fan of American cars very much at all. Sure do some look cool yes, but they really don’t do anything for me. Even the new ones are extremely meh to me. If I had to pick tho it would probably be a 69-70 Charger RT or 69 Roadrunner. My dad had a 69 Hemi Roadrunner when I was a kid. It was vitamin C orange with black stripes, 4speed on the floor, black interior and bucket seats. He sold it to buy my family’s first house. One decision he’s slightly regretted his whole life. But he got our first house so at least it was for something good.
But what really did the American cars in for me is my cousin owned a MG/Fiat/Mini/Jdm repair shop. Basically if it wasn’t American they worked on it. But yea we’d have our family picnic’s there. I would sneak off and climb into a spitfire and act like I’m driving. I did this for many years. As I got older like 13 or so I’d come over and help them work on the cars. I fell in love with roadsters because of that. One of my first cars was a 92 NA Miata. I absolutely adored that car. I’ve had every generation since then. But my dad is a huge Mopar guy. So when we found out Mopar was partnering with Abarth to build a 124 spider again. I knew I had to have one. So I now have a full Mopar built Abarth 124 spider. So it’s best of both worlds! I get my happiness from it being a euro/jdm roadster and my dad is happy because it’s a built Mopar car!

My car if you never seen it before. His name is Finn 🦈

Abarth 500 Assetto Corse (1 of 49).
The brand Abarth came back on top of the scene with the model 500, genuine little sport car with its 1.4 Turbo engine of 135 horsepower, its bodybuilded front and rear faces and the numerous specific parts badged with the Scorpion. So to speak, there’s not a lot left from the Fiat 500 that is used as the base of the Abarth. The success was immediate and the brand launched an explosive track day car in 2009, a limited edition to 49 units. The 4-cylinder has been upgraded to 200 horsepower and 300 Nm at 3000 rpm, it is associated to a 6-manual gearbox to preserve the best racing feelings. The power is transferred to the wonderful 17” wheels via a mechanical limited slip differential and the Brembo disc brakes ensure the decelerations. As a real racing car this Abarth received a complete rollbar, a bucket seat with Sabelt harness, an extinguisher, carbon door panels and a competition steering wheel. To ensure the performances, the car has been lightened 180 kilos from the serial Abarth 500 so it weights only 930 kg! From the outside the body kit is impressive with many carbon elements, the massive spoiler and the historical racing red stripes. This configuration called Assetto Corse has been produced at only 49 units and is exclusively for track use.

since f1 academy are doing their testing right now, i was wondering how comparable is it to w series? is the f1 academy car like an f4 car? i have to admit i’m not familiar with anything lower than f3 since that’s what i get on f1tv but it looked like they don’t have drs in the pictures i saw
i really do hope that since they’re working with established teams in other junior categories that they actually get to move up to f3, f2 etc
hello,
the F1 Academy car is an F4 car. it's a Tatuus chassis, the one used by all F4 championships now which interestingly has space for a hybrid element - I say "interestingly," obviously you need to be a little bit me for that to be true but still. F1 Academy reckon that the Autotecnica engine they will be using is about 165 horsepower, which puts it on par with or possibly slightly above the 160 British F4 (considered one of the most competitive championships) gets out of its Abarth.
so it's a true F4 car and it'll be using Pirellis. W Series had a regional F3 car, so not the same as FIA F3 (which has way more horsepower) but nonetheless was a much more powerful car. the W Series Autotecnica engine put out 270 horsepower, which is on par with FRECA, a series a few of the drivers for F1 Academy have been in, if they haven't been in W Series.
am I happy that this is a step back for them? no, not at all. I think F1 Academy is pitched at the right level because in researching where women disappear from junior ladders, a lack of F4 experience is specifically a problem. although a small number of men leap from karts to F3, generally people do at least a season of F4 which gives them an opportunity to rack up a huge amount of single seater mileage and race experience.
F4 championships have so, so many races - British F4 has 30 races per season and ok, yes, they're short but that's so much experience. if you end up doing tin tops like Ginettas or some other kind of racing you don't get to rack up that many race starts, overtaking opportunities, racing miles and then you're immediately on a back foot compared to people who did.
two years in F4, in just one championship, is 60 races. and a lot of drivers do multiple F4 championships at the same time so they're just clocking up the number to an incredible degree. I know I dig this stat out all the time but for people who started in Ginetta Juniors in the same season, Lando Norris had done more single seater races than Jamie Chadwick had done until halfway through her third season of W Series by the time he did a couple of rounds of British F3 in between winning three other titles.
(the reason why women tend to skip or lose out on F4 is they're usually older by the time they've made their way up the ranks and found any funding for a seat in cars)
so I'm not saying that F1 Academy is wrong to be pitched at F4 level. but I think the candidates for the seats are wrong. Abbi Pulling should be in F3, she should be taking that step up not going back down to a level she last raced at in 2021 (before running out of funding for British F4 after like one round) and equally Hamda Al-Qubaisi should be stepping up too. they both tested F3 cars at Magny Cours last year and I wasn't supposed to be looking at the times but they were both competitive and actually not massively far off Victor Martins' time (bearing in mind he'd won the F3 title the previous weekend) by the end of the day.
the truth is, most of the women in F1 Academy this year are there because they struggled for funding to find another seat. it will help, all race mileage helps, it will be a hand to prepare them for F3 if they can step up the next year and compared to W Series they're getting lots of testing, lots of car time over race weekends, etc. so it has some positives and it's got potential to be really helpful.
I believe having Susie Wolff at the helm will be really good for the drivers, she knows exactly how horrendous the environment is for women in motorsport and how they will be undermined. she won't take any shit from media and she won't expose them to it, either. given that some of them are incredibly young (and should be) it is really important that Susie is there.
so: I hope it is useful. I hope that it propels the women in it up the ladder and that it's a genuine training ground, that gets them opportunities and the seat time and experience they need in order to be competitive. but with some reservations.

Daily Forza Car #8: Return to Form
Tumblr media
Back to the FIAT, er, Abarth brand we go, because frankly I just want to get done with this side of the brand because we have 2 cars left, the 131 here included. Not that I particularly hate this brand, I've actually got quite the attachment to them, this one especially, but we're so close to the end, we might as well finish it off, yeah?
Tumblr media
Anyway, the Fiat Abarth 131. An iconic rally car from the late 70's and 80's, especially with that Alitalia livery shown above. And in Group 4, the it was quite the successful car, winning WRC in 1977, 78 and 80. While this one isn't quite the same car, it's missing quite a few of the rally spec fittings, it is the homologation spec, one of 400 that were made to ensure that the car could even race. Spritely and a spitfire, this thing.
Tumblr media
Outside of the world of rally, strangely enough, the car was a pretty standard, boring sedan, a production run of 8 years, in addition to variants being made by SEAT, Turkish manufacturer Murat and a Polish model all sending out this lil' Italian around Europe. The only legacy this thing has anymore is it's rally career, it's cornerstone part in Group 4 rally landing it firmly in the history books, while the rest of the line past the 80's faded off into obscurity as the world moved on.

We've had a large number of drivers requesting a fitting guide for the Fiat Abarth 500. So we've put this together showing which seats are most suitable along with which brackets. Space is key with limited room at the B pillars. So picking the right seat is vital for a successful fitment.

Key Programmer for Beginners: Xhorse Key Tool Plus or Autel IM508?
Question:
To pick a key programmer for beginners, Xhorse Key Tool Plus or Autel IM508?
Tumblr media
About IM508 (vs. IM608)
In principle, IM508 is enough, because it is enough for daily use for programming car keys, engine modules. And with XP400 PRO it has the same IMMO function as IM608, and you can still buy a set of adapters.
Tumblr media
In general you should take G-Box3.
Tumblr media
About Key Tool Plus
I took a set of adapters without soldering, so we read CAS3, CAS4, Porsche and so on.
Tumblr media
Model Comparison
Autel
Abarth/ Fiat/ Alfa/ Ferrari
Chevrolet/ Opel
Chrysler/ Dodge/ Jeep
PSA
Ford/ Mazda
Honda
Hyundai/ KIA
Jaguar/ Land Rover
Mitsubishi
Subaru
Suzuki
Renault
Toyota
Xhorse
Audi
Mercedes
BMW
Porsche
Seat
Skoda
VW
Summary
I probably will still choose Autel IM508 with XP400 PRO Programmer, I started with IM608, and it can do almost everything.
Also, I will recommend my favorite second programmer, the Key Tool Plus. If you have money, you should take an extra Xhorse Pad.
Done!

Pick of the day - dal mio brand new blog stefanorossiautomotiveinternational.blogspot.com : La mia scelta del giorno ricade oggi su una sfiziosa Abarth 595.

Porsche 356 Borghi Abarth (1 of 1.
This is the Porsche 356 Borghi Abarth, it’s a car with a fascinating backstory being the only one of its kind ever made – and it was only built because the 1953 Porsche 356 it’s based on burned to the ground in an accident. The car was built not in Italy but in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Italian coachbuilder Aldo Borghi had relocated to the South American country at a time when Argentina was booming economically and set up a coachbuilding and automotive race preparation shop.
Aldo Borghi was born in Italy, he trained as a young man in the art of automotive coachbuilding, specializing in the use of aluminum alloy to create strong, lightweight bodies. He later moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, or more specifically he moved to the town of Tigre which is just slightly north of Buenos Aires but which is often included as being part of the large South American city.
In Argentina Borghi set up his own garage specializing in coachbuilding and developing sports cars for the bustling local racing scene. A number of significant cars came out of his workshop including the Alfa Romeo 2900 “Ballena” and the Alfa Romeo Spyder 6C 2500 “Paquito”, and he restored the Alfa Romeo 3000CM Carroceria Boano after an accident.
In 1965 he was brought the burned out hulk of a 1953 Porsche 356. Exactly what had happened to the car is lost to history but Borghi was able to salvage the floorpan, engine, transmission, and a number of other parts.
He then built a new body for the car entirely from hand-shaped aluminum, influenced by the styling of the Rocco Motto Abarth racing cars. The owner was delighted with the transformation and the car was notably lighter thanks to the loss of its original steel body.
Building a new body for a car that’s been badly burned isn’t an easy task, fortunately Aldo Borghi was more than up to the task.
He created an entirely new outer bodyshell in aluminum alloy by hand shaping each of the panels needed, using the styling of the aforementioned Rocco Motto Abarth racing cars as his guide. The end result would be a car with fastback styling, a sleek front end, wider rear wheel arches, and an engine bay that was considerably more roomy than the Porsche original.
The lack rearward visibility is perhaps the only major gripe, but there’s not a lot of need to see what’s behind you when you’re winning anyway.
Thanks to the loss of its heavier original steel body, the new car – named the Porsche 356 Borghi Abarth – was considerably faster than its forebear. The Porsche Super 90 engine was later upgraded to produce approximately 110 bhp, with power sent to the rear wheels via the original Porsche 4-speed manual transmission.
The car rides on steel wheels, with Porsche drum brakes at each of the four corners, and of course it has the independent front and rear suspension of the original 356.
Inside the car you’ll find a tastefully executed interior with leather seats that have plaid cloth inserts. This same combination is used on the doors, and the roof lining and rear of the car are finished in quilted leather.
Up front there’s a wood-rimmed classic steering wheel beside the gear lever, with three gauges front and center in the dashboard showing your speed, revs, and fuel level with the tachometer naturally in the center for optimal visibility.
