He is an absolute unit, weighing in at half a pound! When @roterwolkenvogelbjd said she wants to turn her Seedarts Peabody into a Mini Me version of herself, I couldn’t resist asking whether I could paint it. After cleaning the head I modded the left eye to be the same size like the right one. Afterwards I spent a lot of time looking at pictures I had taken of Bird in the past and then painted the head. I did my best to include all those little details that are part of her face, like the thick eyebrows or the big freckle next to the right eye. This little fellow arrived in the mail from @seed-arts on the 2nd. Today I meant to paint them and give them hair, but apparently it was a sit-on-your-butt-and-read kind of day.

Oh well! Their sculpt is wonderful and I adore the texture of the resin, and the subtle sparkle - since I ordered them, both vitiligo and a (benign, as it turns out) bargain with the supernatural have been part of their character design, so that works out perfectly, especially the subtlety of the Sparkle, because they'd pass for human save in the wrong/right light.

They're also just really fun to play with? Like I said, the texture of the resin is wonderful. The Coomodel body is aesthetically pleasing and really poseable, as well as very light, and small enough to pop in a big pocket. They're probably second to Turel of my crew for "most fun to fiddle with" - there are some things he is better at than them and vice versa, but they're both really expressive and poseable and have great faces.

They go by Fall, as in the season, and prefer he/him or they/them pronouns, they're a sculptor and they're synaesthetic as hell.

Chop Challenge Showcase, Auction, and Artist Reception

Saturday November 19, 2022, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Columbia City Gallery  4864 Rainier Avenue South Seattle, WA 98118

In collaboration with Eileen Fisher Renew and Columbia City Gallery/SEEDArts, I created three greeting card designs using recycled blouse fabric, vintage textiles, paper ephemera, and beeswax for tonight’s event.

We are anticipating a lively evening and are encouraging people to be mindful to allow the flow of participants and guests through the gallery to view and bid on pieces. This is an important fundraising opportunity for the gallery, and we want to be sure everyone has a chance to place their best bids throughout the evening.  

The Eileen Fisher Renew store will be open until 7 p.m. with a display of their own resewn collections and feature art items. We hope folks will plan to visit both spaces! 

Columbia City Gallery is operated by SEEDArts, a local nonprofit that believes in the power of art in building community. All donated artworks directly support this important arts resource in our community. We appreciate your generous support of this community space. This year we are pleased to showcase artists in association with Seattle Recycled Arts for a coinciding exhibit November 12-December 31.

My @seed-arts resin art toy crew! The only one missing is a single bun wearing a bun warmer by @woolstrung , who is keeping my Pipos Budle company downstairs. Kindness cat and Mercury birb were the first to come home. Out!Lorme is the most recent arrival.

Don't worry, I got a new display shelf! It just needs cleaning before I hang it up.
