Largemouth bass fishing...
Fishing in shallow tips and tricks for Largemouth Bass...
1st thing I would try if you have the opportunity is to get up in shallow. Some spots that I love to try out every time that I see them are docks that are in the 4-6ft range at the end, lily pads that are not less that 2ft deep, and cat tails. My personal favorite is dock fishing, try to throw your bait about 2 feet away from the end of the dock and allow the bait to sink all the way to the bottom of the lake. Then when it gets to the bottom give it a light jerk back with your rod and begin almost twitching your rod while reading your bait back in. This strategy applies for the other 2 spots I wrote above as well.
Now onto bait. My go to bait to throw is called the Senko. you can buy these plastic worms at any fishing store really and all you basically do it throw a bullet weight above the hook and then hook the bait right in the middle through the side of the bait. This applies an amazing presentation that bass can not resist.
Again there are many other way to fish for these amazing fish but this is just one way that I love to fish for this amazing species of fish.

The beauty of the Senko is in it's simplicity. The Yamamoto Senko may just look like a thick round plastic worm but the fall rate created from the large amount of salt impregnated in the body drives fish mad. When rigged weightless the Yamamoto Senko falls horizontally with a seductive side to side tail action. Try wacky rigging or texas rigging the Yamamoto Senko and experience the versatility and effectiveness it provides.

FISHING QUICK TIPS FOR BEGINNERS
1. learn the way TO solid
Learn how to solid a fishing rod and a bait caster accurately – most times you'll have to place the bait within a very few feet of the strike zone wherever a poor casting ends up in uncomprehensible opportunities and conjointly lost lures.
When victimization plastic baits like worms, Senkos or craws, don’t jerk - I see this happen all the time, starting anglers have a tough time characteristic between a bite and a snag leading to the bait rapt from the strike zone.
The best thanks to confirming a bite are to carry the rod steady with a touch tension and see if there's a pulsation, if therefore then jerk. once victimization plastics bass can sometimes hold on to the bait for a handful second – enough time to work if it’s a fish or a snag.

2. USE low-cost LURES TO BE BRAVE
In order to maximize success, ne'er use lures or rigs that you’re afraid to lose whereas fishing. If you’re fishing lures that you simply worry concerning losing, you’ll ne'er place them at risk, wherever the fish live, and wherever they'll work for you. low-cost lures fished within the right areas work higher than costly lures fished in “safe zones”.

5. USE A KAYAK
For new fishermen that need to induce out on the water however do not have a ship, attempt kayak fishing. Kayaks area unit cheap, lightweight weight, and straightforward to move. 6. BE ready
The most vital tip I will offer anyone is to be ready for love or money once going fishing. You ne'er apprehend what the fish area unit progressing to do. You ne'er apprehend what lures they need, you ne'er apprehend what the weather goes to try and do and the way it's progressing to have an effect on the fish. 7. brine VS fresh
So it's pretty obvious to most, the variations between fresh fishing and brine fishing, however there area unit some scientific points to contemplate additionally to easily the “Lake vs. Ocean” comparison.
Freshwater fishing is once a trained worker fish in a very body of water that has but zero.05% salinity. it's totally {different|completely different} than brine fishing as a result of the species of fish area unit entirely different. Except some fish like Salmon, WHO area unit born in fresh, pay many years baffled, so come back to spawn within the same fresh body of water they were born in.
One factor to stay in mind is that lakes, like ponds, rivers and every one alternative body of water can have handbasket limits. A handbasket limit is that the quantity of fish and/or size of fish you’re allowed to get rid of from that lake per day.
If you're like Maine, and live midland you don’t continually get the chance to seafood, however, the choice will be even as fun and rewarding!
8. fresh FISHING TIPS
Map It – once fishing in a very fresh lake or pool you’ll need to induce a geographic map of that body of water. this can allow you to apprehend what and wherever the various depths of the lake or pool area unit. in conjunction with that, it should conjointly show you locations of sunken unreal fish cribs.
Bait Matters! – the most effective sort of bait is live bait! Worms, minnows, wax worms, and soft shell (crayfish) area unit smart ways in which to begin. you'll need to use the live bait is best for the species of fish you’re making an attempt to catch. another kinds of live bait that {are conjointly|also area unit|are} used are leeches and frogs or the rest live you're thinking that the fish can go for! Artificial bait works also, with the favored choices being spinners and crankbaits.
Check the Water temporary worker – the bulk of seafood species have specific water temperature and weather that they like. the warmer it gets outside the deeper you’ll get to fish. Fish tend to love cool temperatures and can move to deeper, cooler water because the temperature outside rises. throughout evenfall and dawn, fish can return to additional shallow water to feed. You’ll need to analysis the particular fish you’re making an attempt to catch to work out the most effective times and water depths to catch them.
Keep those hands clean! – once fishing in water with very little salinity you’ll really need to create certain you retain your hands clean. Fish have an excellent sense of smell and any foreign scent on your bait or lures will flip them off.
Other necessities – other than clearly needing a rod and reel, alternative things that you simply can eventually want would be a tackle box, needle- nose pliers, a net, and maybe AN icebox. conjointly a pleasant try of polarized glasses won't solely block the actinic radiation rays from the sun and also the sun's glare on the water, however, they'll assist you to examine a touch higher into the water to find fish.
9. SAFETY data
Safety first! – Growing up in Everglade State I will say, look out for Gators as tip numero uno! particularly if {you area unit|you're} within the south and are employing a boat or canoe.
You always got to have the correct permit and/or stamps, if you’re caught fishing while not them you may be in plight.
If you're progressing to wade in a very stream, pond, or lake confirm to use an aquatic bird belt to stop water from speeding into your waders. If in a very boat, grab a flotation device. it's continually smart to possess handy and necessary by law in most places. Lastly, don’t forget to drink lots of water and apply sunscreen.

10. LAKE FISHING TIPS
Inlets and shops and hang around Spots – Like humans, fish like specific temperatures and can usually loiter around areas of a lake that they realize snug. Places, wherever water enters or drains from a lake, can usually be a lot of cooler and favorable to fish. Baitfish wish to loiter around these areas, in conjunction with the large fish that eat them.
Find Sunken Junk and Treasures – Fish wish to loiter around structures that create them feel safe which offer the chance to ambush alternative fish. Structures like sunken trees, branches, and artificial fish habitats area unit an excellent place to fish. It’s a secure haven, more or less they think… quite however coral is in brine.
The Wind is on Your aspect – On days with a robust breeze, you'll be able to expect the bait fish to induce pushed nearer to shore, which means the massive fish can return nearer to shore to feed. await drift lines and follow them, they'll result in baitfish, which is able to result in the massive fish you're trying to find.
Scout for Weeds – a great deal of massive fish, like pike and largemouth black bass wish to stalk their prey from a pleasant cozy weed bed. find some weed beds within the lake your fishing in and take a look at obtaining your bait and/or lure therein space to examine if you'll be able to coax a fish to bite. The weed beds that result in deeper water and build a prospect line area unit the most effective spots!
11. KEEP IT low-cost
Remember, you don’t need to pay many bucks on fishing tackle. fresh fishing ought to be fun, easy, and cheap. concerning ninetieth of the tackle on the market is supposed to draw in the trained worker, not the fish.

14. "MATCH THE HATCH"
Meaning, your bait ought to be, or a minimum of mimic (with artificial bait) what the fish area unit intake. Use baits and lures that appear as if andarea unit a similar size because the naturally found forage within the body of water you're fishing. Live bait continually works best.

casting for fly fishing
15. CASTING!
Having been a three hundred day p.a. fly fishing guide around the world for several years, and within the fly fishing trade with Sage, city, and Redington for the past dozen more or fewer years, I'd tell you that the foremost vital tip I can give somebody is to be told to solid, and learn to solid well.
While nice gear (rod and line) will definitely facilitate one’s cause, it's not a cure and no substitute for merely turning into a decent caster. once learning to solid, learn the way to double haul immediately… while not learning the double haul, one can continually be command back in their casting ability, and ensure things (the allow, Tarpon atlanticus and soft-finned fish flats), dead within the right out of the gate.
All that aforementioned, being a decent caster needs apply, which apply ought to be done before you go fishing after you will target what's most vital at that stage within the game... learning to solid. Once an individual becomes a decent caster, the remainder can fall right into place.

16. USE the proper BAIT
Be aware of what fish you're making an attempt to catch and what quite a bait attracts them. Catfish, as an example, reply to raw liver whereas bream fish like insects like crickets. the incorrect bait might mean an awfully long sterile day, not the means you would like to begin once embarking on this stunning endeavor!

How to Make Soft Plastic Swimbaits?
To make soft plastic swimbaits, you must mix soft plastic with water. Then, you must apply it to a mold. This mold should be firm enough to hold the soft plastic. If it is not firm enough, the lure will not roll. To prevent this, use a thick piece of plastic and place it in the center of the mold. To add color and flavor, use different colors.
To make soft plastic swimbaits, you need to mix the ingredients and mold in a cup or mold. To make a senko, pour some cooking spray and a plasticizer into the cup or mold. Then, microwave it for 15 minutes. Once the plastic is hard, you can trim it with a craft knife, scissors, or a pizza cutter. This is the easiest way to make soft plastic baits by Bam Baits.
Tumblr media
To make a soft plastic swimbait, you need a mold. You can use any type of mold. A good mold is a silicone mould. A soft plastic lure is easy to make. The mold is easy to clean, and you can find a few tutorials on the Internet. A plastic lure is an easy lure to make. Moreover, it will attract a lot of fish.
Almost all soft plastic swimbaits are made from plastisol. Its hardness depends on the ratio between the plasticizer and the resin. You can either use an injection machine or hand pour the mixture into a mold.
In either case, it should be left to cool. Once the hardening process is complete, you can add the ingredients to attract fish. The lure is ready for use!
You can use a mold to make your own soft plastic lures. Then, you can use a cooking spray to melt the plastic before pouring it into a mold. Once the mold is cool, you can remove it. If the soft plastic swimbait is crooked, you can reheat it and correct it. If you want to add a different color to your lure, you can paint it with different colours.
Once the mold is cool, the soft plastic lure should be transferred to the mold. The molded plastic will set in the shape and position that you had it molded.
If it has any crookedness, you can re-pour it. A soft plastic swimbait is easy to make and is great for fishing. If you have the materials, you can use them for any size or shape of fish.
To make soft plastic swimbaits, you should use double-sided carpet tape and O-rings. You must use the adhesive to attach the O-ring to the soft plastic worm bait. Then, you can add the wacky rig. You can also make hard plastic swimbaits by using the glue or O-rings. The glue is used to attach the lure to the fishing rod.

Senko Worm Tactics
Gary Yamamoto really broke the mold when he invented the Senko Worm Steel bite pro. It is brilliant bait and it is widely used. But are we using the Senko to its fullest ability?
There are fundamental tactics that, to me, are key when fishing the Senko Worm. Oh yes, there are many proven ways to fish the Worm, like 'dead sticking' or 'wacky worming' to name a few. All will work in fooling old Bucket and Smallmouth, but consider what a smaller hook and the Senko worm can accomplish! I personally think that's what it was meant to do. It works so well because it mesmerizes the Bass into submission with its unique patented action on its own, there is no need for jerking the rod to give it life. All the Senko Worm needs is for you to strategically place it out there and watch it work!
I rig my Senko Worm Texas with a 3/0 Owner wide gap 'rigging' hook with the point imbedded into the Worm. I think that "fussy" Bass will take their first bite and feel what they think is 'fresh meat', not steel and the next 'chomp' is the stinger! When they aren't fussy though, the 3/0 Owner will hook them just the same. It has been proven over and over in my endeavors. The other advantage to a smaller hook is longer fall time, which is essential to Bass wanting to engulf the Senko Worm. The alluring fall of the Senko is what attracts the Bass's attention. This is where Senko Worm tactics or the ABC's, if you will, come in to play.
In order for the Senko to do its thing it requires slack line. That is the most important part of its ability to fool Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass. When casting the Senko worm, I try to cast it over hand, giving it an arch shape of line so that when it hits the water it automatically has the slack it needs for the fall. If I am not able to cast over hand then I give it ample line as soon as it meets the water surface. By using Power Pro braided line with this combo one only has to watch their line for detection of Bass. When they take the bait, reel in the slack and set the hook hard!

Bass fishing can be tough! You see other people catching them but every time you go to the lake its too windy, too cold, or too hot. Whatever it is, the bass just aren't biting when you're there. If you're tired of struggling to catch a bass, try these four techniques next time you're at the lake!
Tim is always catching fish. Whether its raining, snowing, or the conditions are perfect, he always manages to get bit. He's an incredibly talented angler but he also has a ton of confidence in his presentations. Over the years he's dialed in these four techniques to get bit under nearly any condition. No matter where he goes in the country, he always has a dropshot, a ned rig, a neko rig, and a finesse swimbait in the boat.
Taking it a step further, he has very specific baits he throws with these techniques to ensure he's maximizing his time on the water. Below you'll find links to the gear he uses with these techniques, his favorite baits, and the exact colors he trusts as he travels the country. Plan E: Fishing Opener 2020, Lake Minnetonka, 5/9/20
Fishing Opener 2020, the opener that almost didn’t happen.  In light of the Corona Virus, for weeks, I’ve been holding my breath in hopes that the 2020 Opener would go on without a hitch.
With the Lake of the Ozark’s Big Bass Bash canceled in April, and states all over the country shutting down boat ramps, the “Stay At Home” order issued by our governor was giving me little faith in a traditional Fishing Opener..
In January, I booked a two night stay at the Father Hennepin State Park campsite.  My plan was to use this site as base camp for the entire Opener weekend.  Located right on Lake Mille Lacs, this would have been my first Opener at Brown Town USA!  However, with the governor’s order in February, campsites would remain closed throughout the Corona Virus pandemic.  I was hopeful the order would be lifted prior to Opener, but that unfortunately did not happen.  The weekend at Mille Lacs had to be canceled.
Plan B: Day trip to Mille Lacs!  I really wanted to fish for some big brown fish on opener, so my new plan was to day trip up to the big pond.  For a week, I rigged up my gear with jerk baits, drop shots, jigs and crank baits.  I was ready for Mille Lacs.  The weather was gorgeous on the days leading up to Opener.  Sunshine, warmth, with temps in the low 70′s.
And then the cold front blew in the night before Opener.  The forecast at Mille Lacs was for snow, a high temp of 36 degrees and winds roaring out of the north from 15-25mph.  That is a brutal forecast for that giant body of water.  I officially scrapped Mille Lacs as my Opener destination.
Plan C: The morning of Opener, I woke up to this slap in the face.
Tumblr media
It’s not like I shouldn’t have expected the cold on Opener.  Seems like this weather is par for the course, but it sure does stink fishing in this kind of weather when earlier in the week I was wearing shorts and t-shirts.
With the cold temp, I wasn’t in a hurry as I moseyed around the house.  Inadvertently, my slow start would end up prolonging my morning even further.
Around 6:45, I finally left the house.  I was bound for Prior Lake.  A few detours later, I rolled into the launch around 7:30.  I guess I’m not sure why I was expecting to roll on up and launch immediately...after all, it is Fishing Opener and the entire state has been waiting on pins and needles through the Corona Virus Quarantine for this day.  As I pulled up to the boat ramp, I could see from the road there wasn’t a single trailer spot remaining,  I thought to myself...I lollygagged around the house for way too long this morning..  These anglers show that the early bird gets the worm.
Plan D: So I made a quick trip over to Lake O’Dowd, one of my other favorite lakes in the south metro.  As I pulled up to that launch, it was jam packed with trucks and trailers, with several in line waiting for their turn.  No way was I going to wait around to get on this lake.
Plan E: Luckily Minnesota has thousands of lakes.  What lake do I pick next?  I decided on Lake Minnetonka.  Mike was already out fishing on Tonka, so it would be fishing finding him and fishing together.  So I made the 30 minute trek over to Grey’s Bay in Wayzata and found plenty of parking spaces in the lot.  I was on the water shortly after 8AM.
The first area I fished was a sharp ledge just east of Charming Point on Big Island.
Tumblr media
In the area highlighted in yellow, there are submerged rocks in 10-25 FOW.  On numerous occasions, I’ve had bites and mark many fish in deeper water, however, I don’t think I’ve ever actually caught a fish here.  I’d like to think this is a prime spot for the elusive Minnetonka smallmouth bass.  I bounced around the rock piles for about an hour drop shotting on several good marks.  But other than a couple of bites, I never hooked into a fish.  I did see a few guys around me hauling in walleye and pike.  So if they aren’t deep...
Maybe they’d be shallow?  I moved up on the shoreline and alternated between a spinner bait and Rattletrap.  The Rattletrap immediate paid off.  A slender two pounder was sitting right under the the first lay-down I cast to.
Tumblr media
I picked up another short fish on the Big Island shoreline, but by no means was it gangbusters.  I picked up the trolling motor and went searching for better fish.
I fished around Lord Fletcher’s, Seton Lake, Black Lake and Pellican Island without finding a single fish.  Finally, I pushed over to Goose Island and started to get back on the pattern.  Unfortunately the fish I was patterning were just little squeakers.
Tumblr media
By 1PM, I had caught a half dozen fish, with my largest being the first one of the day.  Time for a change.  Mike and I met at Maynard’s for lunch - but with the restaurant dining room closed due to Corona Virus, we had to do dockside pickup.  The food was fabulous.
Our next stop was St. Albans Bay.  And the rain began to fall.  As chilly as it was with the rain, I didn’t notice much, because the bite started heating up.
Tumblr media
I alternated between a wacky rigged senko, spinnerbait and rattle trap as I work the docks of the large marina at the Bay’s entry as well as docks on the eastern shoreline.  I hooked into a half dozen bass in this bay, and finally found a good one worth talking about.
As I was fishing the eastern shoreline, I was casting the rattle trap in perfectly flat water.  The only movement on the surface were the raindrops falling gently.  I approached a very interesting mansion perched on it’s own little island. I was admiring the unique European architecture of this house as I made a long cast to the first dock passed the bridge (leading out to the island).  I don’t think I made a full revolution with the crank before a bass slapped at the rattle trap.  I Leaned away from the pull of the fish burying the treble hooks deep into the fish.  This one obviously had more weight behind him.  He made a few valiant efforts at a jail break, but I was able to manage his darting and dashing as I pulled him up to the boat.  I boat flipped this big guy for my first quality fish of the day.
Tumblr media
While shorter than I expected, this fish was tall and fat.  She tipped the scale just north of 3.5 pounds.  This fish has obviously learned some lessons lately; 1) don’t eat a rattle trap, and 2) stay away from the muskies.
Tumblr media
Mike and I next made a run over to Smith Bay where we fished for about 90 minutes canvassing the bay side-by-side.
Tumblr media
Shortly after this picture, the rain was coming down in buckets, so I didn't take any other pictures.  But this spot was magical.  I am not one to turn a 3lb fish into a 6lb fish story nor do I exaggerate the numbers of fish I catch.  So when I say Mike and I caught a combined 20-25 fish in the 90 minutes we were in this spot is dead accurate.  None of the fish we caught were huge (I’d guess the biggest was about 3 pounds), but the bite was non-stop on the spinner bait and rattle trap.
Around 5PM, Mike was done and headed home.  I on the other hand, had one more spot I wanted to fish. Woolsey Pond.
Tumblr media
Woolsey Pond is accessible through a very narrow cut.  The pond at the end of the cut actually has two twenty foot holes which make this a prime area for quality fish.  I fished the entire cut all the way Into Woolsey.  My favorite dock is the first one on the right side, highlighted in yellow.  It’s a large wooden dock with old wood posts buried into the Minnetonka mud.  I fished this dock methodically with numerous casts, trying to hit each dock piling with my wacky worm.  I made one cast to a rear piling.  I slowly reeled in the slack.  However, as the line became taught, I noted the line was nowhere near the piling I had cast to, it was at in the middle of the boat slip now.  Something had it.  I set the hook, and a giant bass came rolling up to the surface.  Easily my big fish of the day.I hectically fought this fish as it tried its darnedest to wrap around one of the wooden posts, but I was able to successfully get the fish away from the dock.  I let the big girl wear herself out as I tried to position myself in the passenger seat of the boat to lip the fish when she came to the surface.  And just as she came to the surface, she flipped up and shook the hook.  I was really bummed about not getting that big girl in the boat because she was every bit of 4-5lbs.  But even though I didn’t get her in the boat, the fight sure was fun.
Although I was relegated to Plan E, Fishing Opener 2020 was a blast.  I caught a ton of fish and learned a new lesson.  Don’t get to the lake late on Fishing Opener!
