The house is clean! See! (25 lb cat for scale)

We were supposed to get my brothers and their families for dinner tonight.

Unfortunately, my partner had to work, and Bro 1's kiddos were sick.

But we had Bro 2 and SIL over for Dinner and my partner was able to say hello before he went off to work.

I made pork loin, Chinese broccoli, saffron rice, and a salad. SIL made a gorgeous Queso Mac n cheese but it had jalapeno peppers in it so I had to decline. I feel bad; she made a real effort to make something I could eat but forgot about my long standing pepper problem.

I did two loins, one marinaded in beer and Herb De Province and the other marinaded in hard cider and Garam Masala. (Plenty of salt and fresh ground pepper, too.)

I also made Nitey-nites, one of Bro2's favorites. Since Bro1's family has a milk allergy, I tried to come up with a dessert that everyone would (and could) enjoy. I'm legendary for my overnight meringue cookies, and this batch was thee flavors: traditional mint and chocolate chip, banana and pecan, and orange dream.

I guess my partner and I are going to have to finish off the remainder. (Oh noes!)

We will catch up with Bro1 and family later. I did buy another set of loins, as well as some lovely salmon steaks.
