Light across a floor. It leads you right to the view. Reflections are the one area that CGI artists have trouble with - that, and shadows. Nothing is perfect in the real world and those imperfections are a photographer's dream. // We are, in fact, working on a CGI project right now and I always start with a real photo and then manipulate it. It's faster and usually more successful. It's always good to have some real light mixed with manufactured light to fool the eye. // This featured shot was designed and built with @themarvinbrand @interceramicusa and some furniture pieces from @bakerfurniture We shot the patio doors inside and out inside a giant warehouse in Minneapolis. Dietro a uno scatto si nasconde un mondo di pensieri, di prove, di errori. Tentativi per raccontare una piccola visione comparsa prima di coricarsi. O un tarlo fisso nel cervello da mesi. Rimane il fatto che dietro c'è un percorso che, quando si riesce, è bello intraprendere. Con molta leggerezza. In casa le etichette dei prodotti sono bandite. Non le amo molto. Io che a volte le disegno, mi infastidiscono nella maggior parte dei casi. Così, in bagno, per esempio, i flaconcini dei prodotti sono rimasti anonimi per lungo tempo, con mia somma gioia. Il povero malcapitato ospite si è spesso però ritrovato a dover scegliere il prodotto da utilizzare senza sapere se si stesse lavando le mani con il sapone o con il balsamo. Così mi sono decisa, e questo è il risultato. I flaconi freschi di etichettature sono diventati il pretesto per fare uno scatto. Il processo è stato piuttosto lungo: la scelta della tipografia (si chiama Algebra Display), la macchina prespaziatrice per tagliare il vinile, la verniciatura e la successiva rimozione del vinile, la scelta e preparazione dei props stampati in 3D (la Venere è stata eliminata dal set, era troppo vanitosa), gli scatti infiniti per trovare la giusta forma della mano. Il settaggio delle luci, la verniciatura del limbo. A raccontarlo poi ci si rende conto di quanto lavoro ci sia, dietro a un semplice scatto.
