11. something you want to do again next year?

this past year i saw some really amazing queer music artists, both big and small in terms of popularity. live music has been difficult for me to enjoy since the pandemic began but seeing queer artists live in audiences full of queer people is so life-giving, i'd love to pick out at least a few outdoor gigs for summer 2025!

14. favorite book you read this year?

i really don't want to pick just one so i will give you my top 3 fiction and top 3 non-fiction. :)

fiction, in no particular order: upright women wanted by sarah gailey, all systems red by martha wells, and a prayer for the crown-shy by becky chambers.

non-fiction, in no particular order: hijab butch blues by lamya h., tar hollow trans by stacy jane grover, and do androids dream of electric cars? public transit in the age of google, uber, and elon musk by james wilt.

20. what's something you learned this year?

idk, man, i—sigh. i said i wouldn't overthink it but i've been considering this question for 10 minutes. i'm always learning something new and usually it makes me angry. how about something simple. this year i learned how to throw clay on a wheel (not very well, mind you, but i learned the mechanics) and although i found it terribly frustrating and vexing to produce anything with a modicum of structural integrity, i did really really enjoy getting my hands dirty and throwing my whole body weight (literally) into a creative process.
