"Don't just throw ripped jeans away, you can repair them using these 10 cute Visible Mending techniques!!" unfortunately my friend the first point of failure for every single pair of jeans i have owned in my life has been the Crotch and Ass. Knees: fine, cuffs: fine; but 3 years in, and all that stands between the world and my astronaut-patterned taint is 0.5µm of denim worn so thin that every squat threatens to tear it to shreds like wet toilet paper. If the Tiktok craft community could figure out a way to resurrect jeans afflicted in such a way that doesn't involve adding a whole ass buttpatch like some sort of inverse assless chaps situation then that'd be great

#and yes i have indeed experimented with trying to add invisible patches on the INSIDE of the jean but unfortunately #trying to sew anything to the non-euclidean hellscape that is the crotch area of a pair of pants #inevitably ends up 1. (hand-sewing) puckered as hell or 2. (machine sewing) w me accidentally sewing a leg hole closed 😔

People with big treadle sewing machines, do you occasionally switch feet positioning on the pedal, or are you just... Resigned to developing differently specialised n unbalanced muscles on each leg?

Aside from the story book my other gem of a goodwill find is:

A foldable sewing table! I don't have a proper place to use my sewing machine. Since we moved i don't have space for my desk. So my mom and I kept talking about how I need something that can be folded and put away. I was going to just get one of those square tables, you know like a TV dinner table. But then we found this! (For 10 bucks!) I didn't take a before picture, this is after I cleaned it. You can see the dark color on the bottom layer, I just put the floral contact paper on the top for some cute decoration and to cover a couple scratches. (My mom suggested painting it, but I don't want to do all that.) And it fits fine behind my door when the legs are folded.

Yay, now I don't have to be hunched over the floor with my sewing machine like a fucking goblin anymore!

another outfit from the WGT (brace yourself for a row of posts about them :p)

this time I attempted again orange and black but this time not neon orange! like the red and black one, i've made this headdress like 10 years ago I'm happy I can wear it well now! it's light and comfortable and i'm happy how it all looks :D

made : headdress, fake eyelashes, necklace, ring

customized (rather reused) : crop top, orange sleeves and undershort

Okay, so... I tried searching for crochet and sewing supplies online, and... it turns out, materials are expensive. :/ So I guess that's part of why I hadn't thought much about making or selling stuff before. (although $36 worth of yarn to make one thing sounds like I must've done the math wrong, because that's a lot of balls of yarn, and why wouldn't one ball of yarn make one item? So it can't be that expensive.)

But would anyone be interested in buying something I would hypothetically make if I were to buy a bunch of yarn and/or fabric and/or a sewing machine?

Like... keyboard cushion with filling, sleeveless jacket/cloak thing (I just think that would be neat), scarf of some sort, curtain tiebacks, pencil holder, ...some random custom-made thing that you can't find at the store...? Maybe weird blankets and throws?

I... thought I would be able to think of more things than this.

#if I had a sewing machine and some fabric I would be able to take the stitching out of a pair of cheap jeans #and turn them into a cool-looking pair of wide-leg pants.#...without worrying about ruining the jeans and/or my sloppy hand stitching falling out.#I would love to have a nice pair of wide-leg jeans... they're never sold in stores. (sigh)#And with a sewing machine I could modify a shirt to make it sleeve-optional. Shirts would look really cool with custom sleeve stuff.#And that cloak idea would be neat. Though I wish I still had the cloak-pin my mom gave me when I was a teen. I'd had no idea what it was.#It was a gold-colored circle. She'd said it was a brooch or something but it hadn't made any sense for just pinning to a shirt.#but as a fastener... it would've been pretty.#I've made two computer cushions for myself in the past ten or eleven years. (couldn't find one in a store)#they flatten after a few years with the filler I'd bought but they're not bad (and my newer one is washable like a pillowcase).#I made some green fabric belt tiebacks as well as fastener rope tiebacks. (...they're available in-store but I didn't like the styles.)#More recently I've made a pencil holder out of some heavy-duty black fabric (with green trim).#(because putting my pencil in my pants pockets was shredding my good pants)

Hey y’all! Crafting update! - the Benadryl Hamster (his name is Herman P Hampster the third) is still waiting for ears and possibly limbs. He will definitely get the ears! And then I will decide about limbs. - I have another grumpy bunny about halfway done, made by request for a friend of mine. The ears, feet, legs, and arms are sewn, so just the body, tail, and head left before it’s So Much Handsewing Time - after that I think it’s time I make another auction fill item, which will be (depending on my spoon levels) either another Bucky Bear or crocodile Loki - then either a teddy bear (for a different friend) or quilting one of the quilt tops I have sitting around - also somewhere in there I gotta finish the donut chair for the Hypothetical Dollhouse, because the pieces of that are taking up all the space on my ironing board and I need that for the teddy bear

#the person behind the yarn #the Benadryl Hamster is called that because I was convinced (while deceived by Benadryl) that I knew what shapes hamsters are made of #I forgot they have legs??? so I very much did not know what shapes hamsters are made of #his name is Herman P Hampster the third because I kept adding the letter P to the word hamster #maybe I'll work on the doll chair right now #I do not want to work on the grumpy bunny right this moment because the faux fur is tricky #and the light level's at that weird 'too bright to turn the lights on but too dim to see dark faux fur properly'#so maybe once it gets dark I'll finish the machine sewing part of the bunny
