[trigger warning: rape, serial killer, darkest shit you can imagine]
there’s a documentary on Netflix about an infamous French serial killer called Michel Fourniret, a pedophile who raped and murdered dozens of girls
what’s interesting about it is that instead of focusing of him, it focuses on his wife, Monique Olivier
when Fourniret was arrested, the (male) police officers and lawyers first assumed that his wife must have been abused herself and/or oblivious to what had been going on — how could it have been otherwise?
Monique Olivier came across as a scared housewife (they had a son together), weak-willed and manipulable, who sounded very unintelligent to those policemen
further along the investigation, they started wondering if she had been more involved with the crimes than they had assumed
for instance, the victims may have been young, but they already knew not to follow a strange man with a white van
Olivier on the hand, was a generic woman who could easily lure them in
so the policemen revised their profile, thinking that she was not 100% innocent, but still guessing that she must have been manipulated and coerced into it all, since she was feeble and dumb as rocks (and a woman! a mother even!)
you may have guessed where I’m going with this
in order to assess whether she was too stupid to fully understand and consent to what her husband was doing, they made her take an IQ test
when the score came out as 131 (top 2% of the French population), everyone went:
that’s when the guys who had been hammering she was an idiot housewife started thinking that she may have been the one manipulating him, and not the other way around
a fun fact is that Olivier met Fourniret when he was in prison for previous crimes — he’d placed an ad in a paper to find pen pals, and she’d answered the call
her lawyer kept saying that the gender dimension made his job super hard, because even though the jury of the trial didn’t seem phased that Fourniret was himself a father, they thought that her being a woman and a mother made her involvement so much worse
so being a woman had both helped her fly under the radar, but also exacerbated her guilt once she’d been caught
the documentary ends on the kind of chilling and depraved anecdote that makes you throw a chair at the window
Monique Olivier let it slip that when she’d have sex with her darling husband, they’d re-enact together scenes from their crimes
so she’d “beg him to rape her”, because that’s what he’d force the girls to say to him before raping and killing them

Okay, we are doing research on adaptability devices for sex, and I have to say I wish these things came with some kind of illustration as to how they'll be used x)
I'm sure part of the reason I can't figure out what the actual use of these devices would look like is because I'm not disabled myself but also like. Would it really kill the manufacturer to have two people in t shirts and cycling shorts sit on this for five minutes so that there's some kind of. Idk. Users manual?
I can't possibly be the only one who's not certain what the actual logistics would look like
