Registration is now Open! Tangram Workshop - 11/14 (Berkeley) Join Megan Lowe and Brenton Cheng in an invigorating workshop centered in contact improvisation and dynamic partnering! People of all experience levels are invited. We would like to especially encourage Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to join us, with discounted rates and two workshop scholarships available. Together we will explore various improvisational scores that focus on giving and getting support when moving with others. Then we will dive into some of our favorite lifts, finding seamless ways of flowing into and out of them, followed by connecting these ideas through thrilling movement sequences. Moving on to contextualizing what we have explored during the day, we will spend time developing our own original movement ideas, and sharing them with each other. In November 2018, I had the pleasure of performing in choreographer Aura Fischbeck’s DUSK. Throughout 2018, we worked consistently and rigorously with improvisational scores, as a foundation for movement invention and choreographic structure, tuning our awareness to the subtle shifts that happen in the body, in space, in community during this magical time of the day when the sun goes down.

Starting this month, a workshop series 🤸🏾‍♂️In-person 🌤️Outside @athleticplayground Introduction to Windmills Unlock the secrets of Harmony and focus and experience the miracle of flight. Breakdancing is an urban discipline inspired by the mastery and power of Kung-fu. Windmills are a widely accessible skill, limited only by the dedication to the process. There are many evolutions of the skill, all of which provide varying sensation of pure boundlessness. Some can be grasped within a day, others will require a greater commitment but the results are transformational. We will be starting from the begging, learning the most basic fundamentals. Expanding our range of motions and strengthening our bodies building a repertoire of skills as our windmills evolve together. A breakdancer utilities gravity and the geometry of their body to create lift. In this state your sense of up and down becomes less relevant yet your spatial awareness becomes more acute.
