okay i'm guessing there aren't a lot of edmontonians in this fandom so i need you all to be aware of something

west edmonton mall is HUGE. it's the largest mall in north america, third largest in the world. it has one of the biggest indoor water parks world wide, a massive amusement park, two mini golf courses, a movie theatre, a freaking HOTEL, all inside the mall.

it spans like 3 city blocks

it doesn't matter that there's maps every 7 meters jeannie it doesn't MATTER you will get lost as a fully grown adult with perfect sense of direction ok you can't say rodney has no sense of direction bc he got lost in that mall YOU CAN NOT SAY THAT JEANNIE ITS SO EASY TO GET LOST THERE

Stargate-Atlantis S1:E7 Underground

The first introduction to the Genii, which proves to be constant problem for Atlantis, but produces some great episode.

Sheppard's level of snark through this whole episode is very high and quite hysterical. Him and McKay get into several snide arguments. The episode is solid. I love how it ends with Elizabeth and John standing on the balcony together, discussing the problems.

Just a solid episode that sets other plots in motion.

I am weirdly enjoying iwtv as a distanced-fandom. I am saving it until at least season 3 bc I can tell I am going to be Fully Insane about it and, more specifically, about loustat. and it's a completed canon, so I know my toxic otp is endgame. I am therefore comfortable just letting that shit marinate.

john and teyla have fucked.

they absolutely spent a few nights having the goddamn time of their lives. filthy, dirty glorious sex. john learned things. teyla learned things. they had the goddamn time of their lives,

I'm thinking around hide&seek through childhoods end era and then at some point post childhoods end, they just stopped. never talked about it, but neither o them are mad about it. they were talking during the day as friends and fucking at night, and then the talking during the day turned to talking at night and soon they didn't even bother getting naked.

john and teyla both know the burden of command in a place they didn't expect to be. and maybe it was teyla coming in post suspicion that started it as she lamented losing her people bc of suspicion, but choosing to stay in atlantis. and john deals with the burden of command and learning how to deal with a bunch of military who are only following him bc their training outweighs their dislike of him. maybe it was the two of them coming to terms with what happened in underground.

whenever it was, they may have fucked but they soon realized they wanted to be friends and fucking was fun, but they were doing it out of the split second of attraction they had, fueled by adrenaline. they're good memories, fond ones they think back on often when they have a moment alone, but neither of them want more. unless ur me and u love ot4 like its ur second child

so yeah, idk where to end this. but. john and teyla had some nasty, delicious sex and now they're best friends forever.

Season 4, Episode 16: Trio

He said, while eating a lollipop, sitting with his back to a motherfucking Stargate. In a sentient alien city. That he FLEW. From one planet to another. Through HYPERSPACE. In another GALAXY. But sure, the negotiations are the thing that are not in the job description.

Anyway—

I just love those three together. As I already said, Jennifer is actually a very relatable character. And in this episode, you already see how she's starting to change—she's getting braver, and her snarky side is coming out a bit more. Also her and Sam's interactions are great. Female friendships are criminally underdeveloped in SGA and I need more! And Sam's face right before Rodney falls through the ceiling is totally Amanda trying not to burst out laughing.

This was a bit of an escape-room type situation and the set was a great design, especially as it was tilting at the end. That's insanely difficult and exhausting to act and move in. I know that the fandom has its issues with the "ohohoh, the girls might take off their shirts" jokes, but I'm willing to cut Show some slack because I remember TV from that time and let's just say, things were different. Stuff that would be unacceptable now didn't even register als problematic then. (It's still shitty and unnecessary, but I won't hold them to 2023 standards. Moving on.)

The two women setting Rodney straight about his disaster of a non-proposal to Katie was great. I live for these little personal moments.

While I am diehard McShep trash, I also am a multishipper for the simple reason that I don't like conflict, not even with myself. I will probably get things thrown at me for saying this, but watching Jennifer and Rodney sloooooowly develop mutual crushes—one, as is tradition, a bit more oblivious than the other—was kinda cute. While Katie was sweet and kind, she was too sweet. McKay needs someone to call him out on his bullshit, and when Sheppard isn't around, someone has to pick up the slack, right?

Anyway, that "I won the bet with the bar trick and now you owe me a beer which means you totally have to go out with me" was smooth as hell and good for you, Jen.

[Side note - how does money work on Atlantis? Do they have a commissary-like thing apart from the mess hall where you can buy extra stuff? Is there a thriving underground economy which deals in chocolate and the good coffee? Whenever someone goes to Earth, do they get handed a 27 page shopping list from places like Sephora and Target? Which currency are they using? I remember Chuck collecting betting money in like 8 different denominations in one episode...]

I'll do one of my OCs that's not a main, Corric Indo. One of my SGA OCs.

His mother was Genii, but his father was not. They were never married and Corric is the result of a one night stand. His mother had no interest in having a child, so he was raised by his father until he was 15.

When he arrived at the Genii homeworld after his father's death, he had a hard time making friends. Eventually, he met the Radim siblings and the three of them became a close knit group.

His younger cousin, Sora, views him as a big brother. She is 12 years younger than him and is rather attached to him as he's her only living family.

He tried to participate in the Genii military when he came of age, but struggled with the physical aspects required. He instead decided to follow a more scientific approach, becoming the best medic the Genii have ever had.

Doesn't spend a lot of time outside the main compound. Spends most of his time underground and usually only visits the surface for the occasional festival and for emergencies.

He is bisexual, or as I refer to him "Radimsexual". The only people he has ever shown romantic/sexual interest in have been Dahlia and Ladon.

Workaholic and does not take good care of himself. Spends most nights sleeping in his office so he can be on hand if someone has a medical emergency in the middle of the night.

Despite the above fact, he constantly gets on Dahlia's case for acting in a similar way. Most of their fights revolve around this. He also pushes Mina to take better care of herself, and she occasionally forces him to get proper rest, telling him to stop being a hypocrite.

Tends to be a bit unorganized and scatterbrained. He calls it "organized chaos" but there isn't really much organization involved.

Is one of the most drastically changed OCs that I have. His age, face claim, background, and race have changed significantly since I first started creating him.

Just had a thought: it will get weird when in my mini PR watch, I reach PRDT, as their Yellow Ranger is Kira Ford.  I originally finished that season before the pandemic, so it’s been long enough that there isn’t much weirdness now with Kira Nerys, but yeah, hearing the same name on two different shows might get strange.

... I wonder if any PR actors will pop up on DS9.  I mean, Kira Ford’s actress did pop up on SGA, and I can’t ever remove “Emancipation” from from a formal SG1 re-watch because Jorgito Vargas Jr. is in it (he went on to play Blake in PRNS).  On the DS9 side of things, obviously Miles’ actor later popped up in SGA (oof, good thing I was planning to skip “Underground” anyway because the cognitive dissonance would be a lot).  And I’ve gathered that Dr. Porter in “Whispers” plays Ezri in the last season (in which show- both).

It wasn’t a surprise to me that there are plenty of PR actors in XWP because of the whole “move to New Zealand” that happened in 2003 (Yes, there’s also LOTR/Hobbit overlap).  Vargas in SG1 did surprise me, because those sets are divided by the Pacific, although to be fair, I have seen an interview where Tori’s actress Sally remarks on how they thought him being Canadian was unusual.

The point being, I am wondering if there’ll be any overlap between DS9 and PR.  I’d say no, but the PR cast can pop up in unexpected places.  It helps that there are so many of them.

This is one of my favorite lines. It sums up the Atlantis team so well.

What struck me this time was how hard it would be to be in Elizabeth's position. She has to trust her people. Every mission goes great until the mission starts. They just never know what might happen when they walk through the gate, and Elizabeth has to trust the mission leaders to make wise decisions and get everyone home, even when things go sideways.

Also, the Genii kinda remind me of the Wraith, always a plan within a plan within a plan. Thankfully, Sheppard is good at chess.
