The satisfaction I felt seeing a helpless terry and knowing how fucking humiliated he must’ve felt needing help from his gay son who he hates just for being who he is and his son’s husband who he also hates by default. Mickey was the bigger person. Ian was the bigger person. Terry is just pathetic and I know he felt that.

I'm a bit late to the discussion, but I wanted to say that the way the other anon perceived Ian's "asshole" comment probably has a lot to do with Cameron's acting in that scene. It was kind of bland, I'm not really sure what he was trying to do with that scene, but it didn't quite land. I do believe that "asshole" was meant to be slightly playful, but Cam's delivery fell flat.

They’re both exhausted. He probably has feelings about seeing terry like that too on top of seeing is husband hurting. To me it comes off as “I’m so exhausted but I gotta be strong for you and you really are an asshole because I’m trying to be serious here but I love you and I’m glad you’re smiling because I missed that smile.”
