Zugriffsebenen in SharePoint
Was sind Zugriffsebenen in SharePoint?

What is SharePoint?
SharePoint is similar to WordPress in that it is a customizable website with add-ons, but unlike WordPress, SharePoint is specifically for intranets: websites visible to employees only.

This course is for end users that are new to SharePoint and want to learn how they can create, update, and find resources on their organization’s internal SharePoint sites.
Windows SharePoint Services function the basic functionality that Gartner calls Basic Content Services. It offers the user access to Versioning and Check-in/Checkout functionality. WSS can then be extended through the use of the applets to add additional collaborative functions like email alerts, shared calendars, etc.
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) sits on top of WSS and adds additional features, both to the underlying WSS layer, as well as additional ways for the end-user to interact with the repository.
The data resides in a SQL Database. Using Webparts it can then present this information to the user using a wide range of different modules and for interaction in different business scenarios. These include such diverse applications as Collaboration, Document management, Records Management (including DOD 5015.2 certified components), Workflow, Personalization, more complex metadata models as well as Blogs and Wikis from the Web 2.0 side.

SharePoint Development Models
Through this article, we are going to have an overview of the different SharePoint development models. Let's get into it!
Introduction
Before building an application, we have a large amount things to think: needs, goals, architecture, infrastructure, frameworks and so on. Developing for SharePoint add an additional layer of complexity because we have to choose between various ways to work.
Each SharePoint development model has its purposes, advantages and difficulties. Here, we are going to have an overview of those different models.
Farm Solutions
Also known as Full Trust Solutions, they require to be developed on a SharePoint server and have access to full server-side SharePoint API. They are supported in SharePoint on-premise installations and have to be deployed by a Farm Administrator and the various features they can contain are then available to the entire farm.
Farms Solutions are distributed as wsp packages and can have different scope: Farm, Web Application, Site Collection or Website. They support things like Features, Event Receivers, Timer Jobs, WebParts, Modules and so on.
When we deploy a Farm Solution, we have to keep in mind that an IIS Reset will be performed.
Sandbox Solutions
Because Farm Solutions are very permissive, Microsoft introduced another kind of solution: Sandbox Solutions. Their scope is smaller because they can only target the Site Collection and have access to a small subset of the server-side API.
The wsp packages can be deployed to a Solutions Gallery and they don't force the server to reset and while a Farm Solution can bring down the whole farm, a Sandbox Solution has only impact on a Site Collection. They are very useful to deploy assets or Content Types and Lists.
Sandbox Solutions are now deprecated, but they can still be used.
Add-Ins
Also known as Apps, SharePoint Add-Ins are deployed in the App Catalog, in the form of an .app file, public or private, and provide a way to develop an application without any server-side code executing on the SharePoint server. This means that Add-Ins run either in the context of the client browser or on another server.
This model introduced with the concept of the Office Store and Cloud-related things in mind, provides a high level of isolation. Add-Ins require working with the Client Side Object Model (CSOM) or the REST API.
Microsoft claims that a Farm Solution can be converted into one or various Add-Ins. However, create things that could easily be done with a Farm Solution with an Add-In can be tricky.
SharePoint Add-Ins come in various flavors:
SharePoint-Hosted
Provider-Hosted
SharePoint-Hosted Add-Ins are installed on a SharePoint Website, called the Host Web while their resources are hosted on an isolated subsite called the App Web. They only support JavaScript, a few ASPX files and XML. SharePoint-Hosted Add-Ins can access data and resources that are outside of the App Web by using one of the following techniques to bypass the browser's same origin policy: a special JavaScript cross-domain library or a specific JavaScript WebProxy class.
Provider-Hosted Add-Ins include components that are deployed on another server while they are installed on the Host Web. It means that we are able to run server-side code on another server and to communicate with SharePoint using CSOM. They offer a great flexibility to develop the various elements we need.
If we can create WepParts with Farm Solutions, Add-Ins offer something similar called Add-In Parts, or Client WebPart. This concept is similar to WebPart, but it implies that the Add-In Part displays a webpage that we specify by using an IFrame in a page in the Host Web.
SharePoint Add-Ins are security principals that need to be authenticated and authorized and this can be done in various ways. An Add-In uses permission requests to ask for the permissions it needs. The permission requests specify the rights that the Add-In needs and the scope at which it needs the rights.
SharePoint Framework
Also known as SPFx, the SharePoint Framework is the most recent addition to the SharePoint developer toolbox. It provides full support for client-side development it grows with the development of SharePoint Online. It allows us to develop components using modern web technologies such as React. For now, the support of this framework is more advanced in SharePoint Online and it is only possible to develop WebParts and Extensions.
One advantage of this framework is that we don't need SharePoint to be installed on our machine to develop. We just have to download a few Node packages and to run our server using Gulp. When we compile what we developed, we also get an .app file.
Conclusion
Through this article, we saw the various existing ways to develop for and with SharePoint. We saw the main idea behind each model, what they have in common and how they differ. We saw that Solutions use server-side API and Add-Ins aim to execute in a client context. We also had a small overview of the SharePoint Framework.

How To Monitor Microsoft SharePoint Online Performance
Gartner Report: Enhancing performance is critical for success
In the February 2016 Gartner report “Four Steps to Remedy SharePoint Online Performance for a Global Company“, research director Kyle Davis advises deploying a solution to monitor SharePoint Online. According to the report – “Global companies need to make performance enhancements to Office 365 for it to be successful”. In this article we explore what can affect SharePoint Online performance and how you can use CloudReady Monitor to assure your success.
New Performance monitoring tools required for cloud apps
When SharePoint and all its infrastructure was behind the firewall, it was easy enough to use existing tools to monitor and detect issues affecting performance. But those tools were designed for an on premise world, not today’s cloud based architecture. Apps like SharePoint Online have the majority of their infrastructure outside of IT’s control. For these kind of cloud apps you need modern tools like CloudReady that were born in the cloud, for the cloud.
What affects Microsoft SharePoint Online Performance?
How well SharePoint Online sites perform depends on at least three things:
The Network How optimized is your WAN? How many hops between your users your SharePoint Online sites? What’s the latency? Throughput? Bandwidth? How reliable are your ISPs routes to Microsoft?
The Service You’ll get continuous updates to SharePoint Online thru your Office 365 subscription every month. Like it or not, some of these updates may affect performance, and not always for the better.
The Sites How you design your sites’ navigation and how you build and deploy your WebParts & Queries have a significant impact on performance.
Not only do you need to optimize performance before you launch your SharePoint Online sites, you also need continuous monitoring to assure that any changes do not have an adverse impact.
This is especially true since changes to the network or the service are no longer within your complete control. Also, for changes you make to site navigation, queries & WebParts, you’ll need to know how those changes affect performance before you roll them out.
Continuous monitoring with CloudReady is the easiest and most cost effective approach to handle not only SharePoint Online performance monitoring, but also the rest of Office 365 as well as your portfolio of other SaaS apps like Salesforce, Netsuite, Workday, and more.

How CloudReady Synthetic Monitoring helps
For SharePoint online, CloudReady continuously captures a number of metrics to help you understand the performance of your sites as well as what is affecting their performance. CloudReady delivers visibility end to end, from your network to Microsoft’s including everything in between.
SharePoint Online sensors utilize a “headless” browser to navigate to a specific site, thru any number of redirects, including SSO challenges, to fully render the site. Next it optionally uploads and downloads an office document to a specified library.
CloudReady continuously executes this workflow every 5 minutes and records how long each step takes. More than that, CloudReady also captures detailed diagnostic data and analysis so you’ll be able to quickly isolate the root cause of performance problems. Here are some of the details you get with CloudReady:
SP Health Score
In addition to measuring the time in milliseconds to fully log on, CloudReady also gathers the SP health Score, SP Request Duration and SP IIS latency. The health score reveals the health of the underlying SharePoint servers. 0 is healthy and 10 is unhealthy. The score is calculated using many parameters such as memory usage, concurrent requests and processor utilization. Together, these metrics can help determine if a performance issue is with the SharePoint Online service or elsewhere. When the service is having issues, you’ll see this reflected in these Metrics. If you have poor Performance but these metrics are normal, then your problem lies elsewhere, and CloudReady has more data and analysis to help you understand what’s slowing things down.
Detailed URL Timings
In the Data Point Details tab, you can view statistics such as the TCP Connect time and Time to First Byte as well as other network timings for every URL required to render the site’s page. This will include things like the Microsoft CDN’s, Office 365 navigational elements, Yammer widgets, and other elements on your sites’ page.
One customer told us they were able to determine that their poor performance was related to one of those URLs taking more than a minute to return the first byte. They told us that was the equivalent of “magic” – helping them find a needle in the haystack. The result: they were able to tweak their site and get performance back to normal in a new York minute.
Network Path Performance
To understand how the network is affecting performance end to end – CloudReady analyzes the network path, showing the number of hops, with a trace organized by network segment. This tells you how much time is being spent in the Microsoft network, your network, and your ISPs network. It helps answers questions such as: Which hop was the slowest? Are any nodes dropping packets? Is the network route to my site changing?
This can help spot many problems both inside and outside your network. For example, route changes in your ISP, issues with DNS, or other network issues such as with your proxys and gateways.
Crowd Powered
As with all of the metrics that CloudReady collects, SharePoint Online metrics are crowd sourced. This enables you to understand what typical performance for other users of CloudReady are experiencing. The crowd is comprised of thousands of data points collected in real time from a globally distributed network of Sensors. CloudReady is the only solution on the market with crowd powered metrics.
Many organizations have told us they were surprised at how their performance compared to crowd. Even more have thanked us for how the Crowd helps them quickly understand if a performance issue affects only their users, or is widespread and affects other users too.
How well does your SharePoint perform?
CloudReady is a simple and very powerful way to get insight into your SharePoint Online performance. Don’t wait for an unexpected issue to jeopardize the success of your SharePoint Online OR Office 365 deployment. Starting a free trial is easy. Within a few minutes after signing up, most customers are collecting metrics and comparing their performance to the crowd.
