En 2006 YouTube tenía tan solo 2 años de vida. En esos tiempos habían muy pocas restricciones a la hora de subir contenido. El 30 de agosto de ese mismo año, se creó una cuenta llamada “Elastic Spastic Plastic Fantastic” o más conocida como “ShayeSaintJohn”, quien comenzaría a subir un total de 56 vídeos a lo largo del 2006 y 2007. Los vídeos en cuestión eran totalmente alucinógenos y surrealistas. Estos estaban llenos de distorsiones, imágenes pixeleadas, daños en la impresión; Además de tener horribles sonidos con tonos caóticos e incoherentes. En resumen, vídeos hechos por una mente enferma, como algunos lo describían en su momento. Pero, estamos de acuerdo que el atractivo principal de las cintas es el personaje estelar. Los vídeos de dicho canal fueron protagonizados por “Shaye”, donde la vemos usando diferentes pelucas, vestidos y joyas falsas. Ella nos contara sus desventuras con palabras sin sentido y seremos participes de su descenso a la locura. el 30 de octubre del 2006, realizo una compilación de sus 31 vídeos en un DVD y lo titulo originalmente como“𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒚𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑲𝒊𝒌𝒊” o también conocido como “𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏” sacando así 𝘀𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗹í𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗮 𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗱𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗼, En dicho DVD “𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏” se cuentan historias de Shaye y Kiki. Kiki es una pequeña muñeca quemada que vive con ella, tiene la capacidad de mover objetos con su mente y volar. En algunas escenas podemos ver a Kiki acariciando las piernas de maniquí de Shaye. Desgraciadamente, Eric tenia problemas con el alcohol, según el “𝐛𝐞𝐛í𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐚 𝐦𝐮ñ𝐞𝐜𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬”. Lamentablemente, dicho vicio lo asesino el 25 de febrero del año 2010, día que sufrió una complicación gastrointestinal causada por la gran cantidad de alcohol que había en su sistema. Finalmente murió en el hospital debido a una hemorragia interna. SHAYE HAD ALL THE SYMPTOMS. tHE DIAGNOSIS? RED CARPET FEVER.

On February 1st Shaye St. John's short Film "Happy Turkey Day" had its Southern California Premiere. Shaye appeared in person to meet the many people who had showed up for this exciting night. Aided by a large entourage, Shaye happily handed out stickers, autographed photos, and even candy. The infamous recluse even answered questions posed by a reporter who was covering the event. For everyone there, it was truly a night to remember.

Shaye happily waves to fans. "I was so happy to see that people still care". Shaye is close enough to touch and the excitement is felt by fans.

"My little eyes burned from all the flash bulbs." Many had traveled quit a distance to be there, and they were not disappointed.

Shaye takes some time to answer questions from Stephen Lemons a reporter covering the event. Shaye even managed to crack a joke causing total pandemonium.

A word from Shaye:

Thank you for coming to the Opening of my little movie! It was fun to see you there. I was happy and excited and nervous all at the same time. What do you think? I hope everyone liked the stickers and the candy. Potty nearly ate all of it before the show! Thanks again and I will see you soon. Sincerely Shaye.

Hand Thing

Humanity has never seen such a beauty as this specific video known as the “HAND THING”, which has been published by the Youtube channel ShayeSaintJohn and way back in the good old days of 2007. More specifically, humanity has no way of being prepared for something like this because let’s be real here, nobody should ever really want such a creepily terrifying masterpiece to exist.

Our feature video begins with what appears to be a teenager with hair and a scarf made of what I can only assume is the fur from an animal- my personal guess is from a poodle. He leans around a doorway and you can just tell by the ominous background music that sounds like a remix combining white noise and a possessed violin that we’re in for a good time. Our apparent protagonist, who I’ll be addressing as Teenager because that’s what I’m guessing he is, has the smile of someone that has recently skinned his third poodle of the week as he asks someone named Shaye if they have still been doing what’s addressed as “the hand thing”. Something that isn’t his reflection scares him and then we’re introduced to what must be Shaye. We’re six seconds into this journey and I already want to turn the car back around and go back to Sane Town.

A creature wearing a light blue poodle fur garment of some sort with two arms that look suspiciously like thin cardboard strips wrapped with duct tape is shown moving its arms around in a feeble manner while groaning as if trying to explain itself. What really gets me is a the mask-esque face with its wide open electric blue eyes because it feels like it’s a monster that managed to escape from my worst nightmares and crawl into a Youtube video. And I never thought that I’d ever say this but I didn’t think that the phrase “a hoe” could sound so creepy. Or at least that’s my interpretation of whatever the hell this... being is trying to say.

The camera switches from showing us Teenager to the creature for small intervals, almost as if the person controlling the camera couldn’t decide which one was better to look at and went with the bed of nails mentality on this one.  Teenager gets distressed due to his own hands doing “the hand thing”, which is really just him smacking one of his palms against the other and then vice versa at a rapid pace. He continues to claim throughout the video that he’s been “doing this for 24/7” despite how he said only sixteen seconds before that it was Shaye doing the hand thing. So which one is it? I’m not sure which is worse, the acting or the script. And I take it that there was an actual script since there’s no way something so horrible could come out so beautifully on purpose.

The music makes a sharp right and enters the Melodramatic Zone since someone decided that the scene showing Creature’s full body really needed that extra electric guitar in it, which I personally think is one electric guitar too many. And then there’s my personal favorite moment in the video: a close-up shot of Creature’s hands doing the hand thing along with a lovely squelching noise. I’m guessing that they removed the poodle blood from this shot during editing so that their viewers wouldn’t get completely freaked out due to all of this horrible treatment of poodles. 

The electric guitar gets the poodle treatment and is completely cut out from the music when it reverts back to its white noise remix, which this time seems to be featuring a lawnmower, a helicopter, the sound of a dying Transformer, or a combination of the three. Teenager grows considerably more freaked out as the video progresses and they both don’t show any signs of stopping their hands from doing the hand thing. Both of their faces seem to be permanently stuck with the same facial expression throughout the video and Teenager continues to speak in a voice that sounds oddly like he’s an actor for “South Park” when not doing the hand thing. 

That’s how the rest of the video progresses: a mix of Teenager repeating his lines constantly, Creature speeding up and slowing down how fast it does the hand thing, and occasionally our old buddy the electric guitar comes back. My opinion is that the guitar is the best character in the entire video because at least it knows to stay away and try to find a safe place to hide until the video is over. There’s also this “ksh ksh ksh” noise that appears briefly towards the end of the video that Teenager keeps saying and I feel it’s best to just let him have at least that to himself since I’ve already outed him on his habit of killing poodles. 

The video concludes with Teenager standing at the doorway and asking if Shaye is still doing that hand thing, which made me literally pause the video and make sure that it wasn’t my internet messing up and accidentally rewinding the entire thing. Unless you’re blogging about it and literally have to in order to stay accurate to the source material, I wouldn’t recommend watching this amazing heap of nightmarish garbage more than once.
