Heyy! Good morning! Hope you are doing well! ❤️ So lately I’ve been heavily fixated on hc about Haymitch’s father. You’ve already explained the general story, but is there more to his story after he abandoned his family? Did he hop to another woman and have another child? (Which most dirtbags do) where the hell did he go!? 12 doesn’t seem like a large district, I would imagine he would run into Iris from time to time if he stayed there. Was he around to watch H get reaped? Does he know about his previous family’s fate?? Lmaoo! Im sorry! Again this has become my latest mini obsession and would love to hear your thoughts!

Aaah Shayne. XD Yeah, Twelve isn't a big place. I actually hc that he did moved on to another woman and had another kid but Haymitch never had anything to do with her and doesn't consider her his sister. As far as he was concerned Hayden was his only brother (keep in mind he was 5 when his father walked out and probably only discovered he may have other half-siblings around way later when he was already struggling to help keep his brother fed).

I like the idea of Shayne coming back around once Haymitch has won, supposedly because Iris and Hayden are dead and he is a changed man who wants to reconnect and what not and Haymitch being just vulnerable enough to be open to it only for Shayne to want to get money out of the situation and Haymitch slamming that door shut real fast. From then on, his father is dead to him either way. However, more realistically and in my default verse, I think I hc Shayne being such a drinker that he dies when Haymitch is still in his younger teenage years (around 12 or so) but by that point he's already pretty much dead to him anyway. Haymitch holds a grudge like nobody after all.

As for any half-sibling he may have, he never goes looking, never tries to contact the one he knows about. It's safer that way for everyone involved and he doesn't want her, as terrible as it sounds. She isn't his sister because his only sibling was Hayden and to change that would be to betray him. I don't think she and her family would make it out of Twelve's bombings either.
