I'm curious about the beef between chandlo and shellsy in the bugswap au- what happened between them? 👀

Chandlo and Shellsy have known each other since Chandlo's college days - more specifically, Shellsy was Chandlo's biology professor.

In the beginning, things were going well between the two! Shellsy considered Chandlo her star student, and the two greatly appreciated each other's work. However, that changed as soon as their relationship began.

Shellsy's experiments, not only on herself but on the entire class, soon became increasingly risky. Chandlo, who was the only one close enough to her, tried to warn her that she might be endangering the health of the others with her large-scale experiments. Shellsy, however, shot him down, accusing him of being a coward for simply "not seeing her vision”.

One report to university staff later, Shelly's professorial years were over. She blames Chandlo for not being able to share her discoveries with the world anymore, when technically, it was kind of on her for trying to demonstrate how to turn paw nail clippings into single-celled organisms.

Shellsy detests Chandlo for his mousiness and refusal to leave his comfort zone, while Chandlo sees her pride and disregard for precautions as her hubris. That said, Chandlo still appreciates Shellsy for what it’s worth, even if the two are constantly at each other’s necks.
