Today was a really warm and sunny day, and most of the snow has melted away SO FAST that it's starting to look and feel like spring finally. And about time, it's already almost mid April, and the spring is very late. I was still snowing last week! But soon all this should be over and the proper spring should be here again, I cannot wait.

The sunny day and springtime-feeling air + listening to die ärzte in the car is always the definition of spring to me. I haven't listened to music in general much in a long time, but yesterday felt like a dä + spring day, and I put on 'auch' in my car and I love that album but it's been ages since it sounded THAT good. I am happy that this music happiness is back again from the hibernation.

My New Rock shoes. I have owned them for 13 years now. I took them to a shoemaker just to get a few seams and decorations fixed, and I'll be getting them back today. Those shoes are my favourite clothing item I own, and they are literally 13 years old and only a few seams were worn out. They look as good as new after cleaning them up. I can't wait to wear them again soon, cos they just look so damn good and I love them <3

CATS. ALWAYS CATS. I don't have my own but my parents have three of them, and it's always nice to visit them cos the cats love it when me and my brother go there. They always greet us and usually start their zoomies soon after because they just get so excited, and they want to play with us, be brushed and one of them has grown so affectionate by age that almost every time he will find a nice spot on the sofa to sleep right next to me when we're watching TV.

School. I'm working on a video project for school, and I'm finally in my actual element. Even tho it's a bit more challenging with ADHD, once I find the flow-mode, I'm unstoppable. I've got so many ideas for it, and I hope the others will approve what I end up creating for those. I'll be working on those the whole April and May, but it's fine. I've prepared, and I have free weeks and I can follow my own natural sleeping schedule and work on those videos when it's the best time of the day for me. And it's been working out really well. I'm actually ahead of my schedule and deadlines, which is rare, but also a really good feeling. I hope I manage to do the same with the rest of the videos. (Usually I am good with deadline, I just tend to make everything ready on the last minute - except for now!)

📔 Do you keep a traditional diary: No, not at this point, but I tried keeping up with diary‘s several times but failed because I couldn‘t stand being radically „alone“ with my manifested thoughts/feelings (?); I don‘t know if somebody will understand but I tried to describe this relation. But instead, I use(d) sketch books pretty often and regularly but rn I don‘t even feel like keeping up with one of them.

🎙 Can you sing: I love singing but I‘m not good at it and therefore wouldn‘t say I „can“. 😬

Last Song: “Neighbors”, by The Academy Is... I love the fuzz guitar on it. Just a simple upbeat rock song. I really miss that band. Emo was full of also rans, second tier bands that were just as good or better than the more well known ones.

Last Movie: Finished watching The Changeling last night. It’s a 1980 ghost story starring George C. Scott. If you’d like to see a slow build classic ghost story with little blood, try it. It’s fantastically well done. 

Currently Reading: Monster, She Wrote, The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction. Women have always written horror and science fiction. And they’ve often been damned good at it. 

Currently Watching: Not a hell of a lot. I mostly watch true crime You Tubes late at night to wind down before bed. I like That Chapter a lot now, a well made channel with a host with a thick Irish accent. It’s soothing while he’s talking about murder and missing people. I also love Dr. Todd Grande, actual psychologist, who talks about mental health but also covers true crime. This makes him the most level-headed and one of the most unique channels I’ve seen. 

Currently Craving: Not hungry, but will be making patty melts with potato chips and carrot sticks for dinner.

1: A song you like with a color in the title

The first to come to my mind is of course dä’s Himmelblau but I kinda want to answer something else... okay now I know - I’m not the biggest fan of Bela’s solo music but the song Schwarz/Weiss is actually good:

5: A song that needs to be played LOUD

Everything. Either make it loud or don’t listen to it at all. I think the one song that always feels like it’s not being played loud enough is Die Banane by Die Ärzte. (I know what the lyrics are about but fortunately I have the ablity to not hear lyrics + a bit of a language barrier and no one else in Finland will understand a word :D)

Musically it’s not even close to the genres I normally like but for some reason I really got obsessed with this song years ago. Before that I always skipped the song but I usually like to give new opportunities to songs I thought I don’t like and sometimes, as my music taste evolves, I start liking songs I didn’t think I’d like ever. And this is one of those songs - somehow it’s just so genius and a great example of what dä is capable of. I once got accused by someone because of this, they said “you like everything die ärzte does just because it’s die ärzte” and like... yes and no. I’m not blindly liking everything just because it’s die ärzte but the reason why I like dä songs from genres I don’t normally like is because they somehow can make even those genres work and the songs come out awesome, and not all bands have that skill! There’s still dä songs I skip, just not too many of them. But it’s not that I stan and don’t see anything bad in them ever just because they’re my favorite band.

6: A song that makes you want to dance

No songs really, since I never dance anyway. But there’s this one Finnish song that has a music video where the movements of the guy in the video make me feel like I have a need to mirror him and it’s extremely difficult to sit in one place when I look at that. It’s a band AND a song every Finn knows and a band I have never actively listened to, but that I have known since my childhood and it’s one of the rare Finnish bands no one has ever had anything negative to say about and everyone likes at least some of their songs. The song is called Pohjois-Karjala from Leevi and the Leavings - the song itself is already a bit worn-out as it’s one of those always played in the radio but I’m linking this now mainly because of the video.

7: A song to drive to

The Richy Guitar versions of Ärzte Theme and Teenagerliebe are the best ones for this :D And so is 3-Tage-Bart, especially during summer! I immediately feel like driving when I listen to this version of Ärzte Theme lol.

I also really like the long version (30mins) of SpaceRace from Feeling B. It’s so calm and relaxing and perfect for driving at nighttime!

Uh nothing ::D I don’t sing, not even alone. I sometimes lipsync when I’m alone but even that never goes well because I can’t remember lyrics and the melody makes me remember them wrong at the same spots every time.

20: A song that has many meanings to you

I’m going to link two songs because they are so heavily linked to each other: Odotus and Käännä se pois from Apulanta.

I’m linking them both because the album these are on was released in 2000 when I was 9 years old. I was a huge fan of this band back then but then kinda pre-teenage and teenage happened and I forgot about them, only to find them again at the age of 18 or so, and since last year I’ve been pretty much a fan again.

I always remembered the first music video because of one of the actors, I was still a very confused child and did not understand what was going on, I kinda didn’t understand that actors and characters are two different things, the suicide theme also raised so many questions for me - I was all about tragic stories that left you with questions! When I started to listen to the band again in 2009, I remembered these songs but I did not remember which one was the favorite - until I watched the music videos and had war flashbacks to my childhood because of the video for Odotus! It still sounds very similar to Käännä se pois and I still am not sure which one is better because both are so great and Odotus is really beautiful as a song. Fangs: would you become immortal if you could?

Definitely! I’m already obsessed with immortal characters and wish I could be like that too. I have a chronic existential crisis and sometimes remembering my mortality makes it difficult for me to have any joy in life. Like, my will to live is so strong that the idea of my life ending one day makes me feel like there’s no point in creating memories if I can’t keep them forever?

Probably teleportation. It’d come in handy. Or then invisibility.

Vampire: what do you want to dress up as for Halloween?

Nothing. I’ve never really celebrated Halloween as it’s not a thing in Finland. Just once, when I was 8 years old, I dressed up as a vampire for a Halloween party in a kindergarten my siblings attended. But my costume came with a twist - I didn’t want to be like the others so I asked my mom to paint my face black and the circles around my eyes with white. I don’t know what was with that because it looked terrible :DDD And then I remember getting offended be every kindergarten staff who asked me if I’m Dracula, as I told them “I’m not Dracula, he’s not the only vampire out there you know!” because I had never seen anything about Dracula but I don’t know where the vampire idea came for me because I was never obsessed with vampires either? But I think it was because I was obsessed with Batman, had some fake vampire teeth I got from a funfair and decided I could make a good vampire if I used my Batman “outfit” (it was just black clothes and my mom’s old skirt as the cape). And I got even more offended when the adults asked me if I was a pet bat because my mom dressed up as a witch XD So I was like “Nope, I’m not a bat but a vampire but also not Dracula but some random vampire”, okay then.

But to this actual question, if I had to dress up as something, it should be something that covers my entire face, aka a mask and not makeup. The reason why I never have been into any kind of cosplay or Halloween type costume party things is because I am so self-conscious and I just cannot get rid of my own personality. I am so aware of myself that I’m 100% sure people would see through a fullbody costume and everyone would know it’s me. I am very fascinated by the idea of being anonymous in public (the way e.g. Deadpool cosplayers are) but I would never have the guts for that cos I just cannot, like, escape myself. I can do escapism only when it’s video games or such when no one sees me. In a way Deadpool would be fun but like I said, I am not brave enough for that plus it’d just look awful as I don’t live in a tall, slim flat-chested body.
