Haiii Trickster!!
I got a quick question.
Have you gotten into the Assassin's Creed Fragments books lately? I've recently got one called "AC Fragments: The Blade of Aizu". It's set in 1800s Japan about the Shiba siblings, Atsuko and Ibuka, and their bond was tested by the circumstances of war and politics.
I even liked how it had Takeko Nakano as a member of the Assassin Brotherhood.
I haven’t !! Sounds cool though, thank you for bringing it to my attention !

Kabosu’s owner, Atsuko Sato, said her dog died — “crossed the rainbow bridge” — Friday, May 24. “She went very peacefully without suffering, as if falling asleep while feeling the warmth of my hands petting her,” Sato said. “Thank you all so much for loving Kabosu all these years. I am certain that Kabosu was the happiest dog in the world. That makes me the happiest owner in the world. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who has sent us much love to us.”

Going Upstream with Doge
For this week's assignment, I decided to research one of my favorite memes on the Internet: Doge! As most people know, the Doge meme has evolved into quite the trend, especially after the Crypto currency "Dogecoin" hit its peak in 2021. Being a dog lover, I've just always been fond of the funny-looking Shiba Inu's face and occasionally wondered where the picture originated from.
I began my investigating by simply Google searching "Doge". As expected, many different versions of the meme appeared, but I chose to click on one of the very first options, which was the original, unedited image. This image was posted to a news outlet named CNET, who published an article called "The Shiba Inu dog behind the doge meme turns 16".
After reading CNET's article, I learned that Doge's real name is Kabosu! She is currently 17 years old and lives in Japan with her owners, who run an Instagram page called @kabosumama. By using this information, I researched further into the social media pages of Kabosu, in hopes of finding the original post. Eventually, I ended up on Wikipedia's page for Doge, which stated that Kabosu's owners also run a blog, which is where the original, unedited picture was first published.
Upon scrolling through owner, Atsuko Sato's online blog, you can view hundreds of adorable photos of Kabosu and her cat! What I found super interesting is that Atsuko obviously understands how much the Internet loves her dog, so she created a "History" tab on this blog, where you can view a timeline of photos posted all the way back to 2010. Atsuko's only current upload of the original "Doge" image was last posted on January 4th, 2014, which is 4 years after the picture went viral. It is uncertain as to what happened to the very initial post, which allowed the sharing of Kabosu to go viral on Reddit. On her 01/04/2014 blog post, Atsuko stated "This photo of Kabosu was used as a meme. The meme is apparently called "Doge"". Throughout this blog, thousands of images can be seen that prove Atsuko of being the rightful owner of Kabosu and has frequently expressed her attention towards the viral meme through captions and photographs. Below are two of my favorite pictures that I screenshotted from Kabosu's official Instagram page!

A Shiba Inu who earned global fame for starring in a viral meme is sick with leukemia and liver disease, her owner says.
In a series of Instagram posts this week, Atsuko Sato, a teacher who lives in Japan, said the 17-year-old pooch was in "a very dangerous condition" after being diagnosed with acute cholangiohepatitis, a type of inflammation in the digestive system, and chronic lymphoma leukemia, a blood cancer.
"Right now, the liver level is very bad and jaundice appears," Sato wrote in one caption. "But antibiotics will definitely improve."
The dog, known by the name "Kabosu," had stopped eating and drinking over the weekend but was beginning to get her energy back, Sato said.
Kabosu, a rescue dog, became an internet sensation after social media users began resharing a photo posted to Sato's personal blog in 2010.
Kabosu's smirking face, side eyes and crossed paws were a hit online, often overlaid with comic sans text depicting what might be her inner dialogue. Users began referring to the image as "doge" and a global meme was born.
According to internet lore, the term "doge" first appeared in a 2005 episode of "Homestar Runner," an animated web-based comedy series.
But the misspelled moniker took on another meaning in 2013 with the emergence of a titularly-branded cryptocurrency, Dogecoin.
The currency — which was supposed to be a joke — spiked in value years later when Elon Musk, the richest man on earth at the time, tweeted "Dogecoin is the people's currency" and "no highs, no lows, only Doge."
Kabosu's legacy has only continued to grow, transcending internet culture to appear on pastries, ads for the Stockholm subway and the jerseys of professional athletes.
In 2021, the iconic image of Kabosu sold as an NFT for a record $4 million.
On Instagram, Kabosu's owner thanked the dog's fans for the outpouring of support, saying the pair were "getting power from all over the world."
Poor Kabosu! 2023, don't you dare take our favorite DOGE. She is much amazing, such wow, and you can't have her!
