I'm on my first read through of Realm of the Elderlings and as a little personal project for myself, I'm taking a scene or small moment from each book in the series and turning it into a comic spread. I've been working on this project since January so I'm catching up a little bit with posts here.

I loved character dynamics in Ship of Magic and was especially drawn to Amber and Paragon's friendship. This scene doesn't happen on-page so the comic spread is a bit of a fanfic // fanart combo. I imagine that Amber was delighted to carve her gift for Paragon and I just wanted to spend some time with her in her cozy workshop.

"I brought you something," she said into the comfortable silence.

"You brought me something?" he wondered aloud. "Really?" He tried to keep the excitement out of his voice. "I don't think anyone has ever brought me me anything before."

She sat up straight. "What, never? No one's ever given you a present?"

I'm enjoying Brashen and Althea's relationship so far because here are two people who have the same background, the same vices, the same role models, the same friends, the same goals, and who each think the other is the biggest fucking loser they've ever met.

Here's my Winterfest 2023 piece for @mellowthorn

I had an incredibly fun time neglecting all my chores and other adult responsibilities to make this.

There was a passage in "Ship of Magic" where Amber remarks about how she wishes she could spend her nights aboard Paragon, and they would stay up all night sharing stories until dawn. In a series that's mostly just tragedy after tragedy, I loved indulging in the though that they could have a little bit of peace for once in their lives.

I told my sister abt the plot of ship of magic and she tried to draw paragon but she has very limited understanding of how liveships work

Booktok would rather praise SJM or Colleen Hover as the ‘AUTHOR TO READ’ meanwhile Robin Hobb has been writing beautiful, heartfelt and passionate books and yet…. Also I do love that Hobb was like ‘….anyone up for a Six Duchies reference?’ and some reader must have been like ‘finally this is how this book is going to intersect with the farseer trilogy okay take Althea to Buckkeep leggo’ only for Althea to be like ‘no💚’
