The Battle Begins

The campus grows foggy, like a smokescreen at the intro of a concert. In the sky at the center of campus, a figure can be seen flying around. The buildings and furniture begin to warp and distort, some of which turning into…props? For some sort of video game?

No people are hurt, however, as if the glitching is purposefully avoiding harming anyone.

Suddenly, a booming voice can be heard over the loudspeakers. 

“Welcome, one and all, to your new game! My name is Shiyuu, and I’ll be your host for this amazing adventure!”

The smoke clears, revealing Shiyuu above the school building. A tower is being rapidly constructed at the edge of campus, the surrounding area beginning to look like a final boss level.

“Each one of you will be fighting against monsters designed to stop you on your way to your ultimate quest, defeating the final boss! Defeating the final boss will put an end to this game, but watch out! The tower is heavily guarded! It’s up to YOU to save the campus! Good luck!”

After making his announcement, Shiyuu disappears in a poof of confetti.

[Shiyuu notices the blush, thanks to their close proximity.] “Hey, wait…did I get you to blush?? Did I get the grumpy-but-loveable James Ratt to blush?!” [They grin, teasing in an attempt to lighten the mood.]

[Yuume sights and turns to Chase.] “Y-Yeah…are you okay…?”

“I just…feel bad for not saying anything sooner. I feel like it’s my fault that Lewis and James are acting different…”

[Yuume puts a hand on Chase’s shoulder.] “It wasn’t your fault…you didn’t even know what the potion was until you saw its effects..!”

“Still…” [Chase frowns.] “I’m somewhat responsible for this…I don’t want people to be sad or hurt…”

[Shiyuu runs up to your party.] “Aaah! Finally, someone stable!” [they dust off their clothes before continuing.] “Mind if I uh…join you guys? I don’t have much, but…but I can fight!”

[They show the satchel of small rocks with a slingshot, and the broom on their back.] “I also have supplies if you guys need some…O-Oh, and I’m Shiyuu by the way! I-In case you didn’t know that…”

*Lewis looks a bit alarmed, but James and Yuna seem relieved*

*Lewis relaxes a bit and Yuna rolls her eyes*

Don't mind them, they're a bit on edge from this whole.... *She gestures around here* situation...

[The radios campus-wide suddenly turn on, broadcasting the frantic voice of Chase Crewel to the public.]

“A-Attention students and staff of NRC! There’s been an overblot in the south wing of the school building! This overblot seems to be affecting the world, so please be careful! It may sound strange, but there’s chocolate milk rain, floating buildings, the ground looks like a quilt in some places— things don’t make sense! Stay safe!”

“Also— Shiyuu Oboete, the Ramshackle prefect, has been captured by the overblotee, Yuume Shylock! Oh, right, I didn’t even say who overblotted— um, Yuume Shylock has overblotted! I’m not very good at this…”

“Ah, um…please stay safe! I’m in my friend’s recording studio— broadcasting room? One of the two! Just- um- be careful!”

*Vern tilts his head at the announcement. That... sounds like Chase. Sighing, he forces himself up from the desk chair. Where there's an overblot, he will inevitably be called.*

What My Dorm is Telling Me.

Shiyuu had just been minding his own business when he gets bumped into. “Ah-?!”

“I-I’m so sorry, Shiyuu!”

“Oh, it’s just you, Yuume. I—WHAT THE F{doink!}?!” Shiyuu gasps, stumbling back upon seeing what Yuume is wearing. “Why are you in an Pomefiore uniform?!”

Yuume looks confused. “B-Because…it’s the dorm that I’m in…?”

“Huh? But aren’t you…?”

“Oh, I’ve got to go! The housewarden needs me!” Yuume runs off before Shiyuu can question any further.

…

“It was so…weird?” Shiyuu recounts the events that just occurred with Mai.

“That…certainly sounds strange. Should we check up on Ignihyde, then?” She suggests, tilting her head.

“That’s probably a good idea…”

…

Ignihyde is…not doing any better. Students that were last remembered in Savanaclaw were there, and none of them remembered being in Savanaclaw!

“Okay, something is definitely wrong. We should go to Savanaclaw.”

“Indeed.”

…

Savanaclaw is filled with…octavinelle students.

“It’s so hot!” Shiyuu groans, wiping sweat from his forehead. “Seriously, how do the students here SURVIVE?!”

“Oh dear, it seems like the residents aren’t doing much better…”

“ROCKY?!”

“Ah, shit…” Rocky sighs, running over. He, too, is in the Savanaclaw uniform. “What’s wrong, Yuu? Ya look like you’ve seen a ghost!”

“I—I don’t—”

“Please excuse us…” Mai smiles politely, ushering Shiyuu away.

Octavinelle is now filled with Diasomnia students. Wuzhi and Binx give similar responses to anyone else they question, though both seem a bit more conscious of the fact that something isn’t right. Neither can tell what, though.

Diasomnia is stuffed full of Heartslabyul students. Anya brushed off Shiyuu’s confusion, assuming he just hadn’t gotten enough sleep. “Happens to the best of us!”

Heartslabyul now has Scarabia students. Sadiya is also somewhat aware of the difference, but doesn’t know what changed.

Scarabia, finally, now has Pomefiore students. Chase and Seraph are unaware of the change.

But one thing all the dorms have in common…is that they’re STRUGGLING.

“Oh my sevens, what the heck happened?! Why is this happening?! What do we do?!”

“Ah, I don’t know…” Mai sighs. “Looks like we’ll need help, though.”

“You’re right…ah, jeez…”

*Alexander pauses*

…Fine, but you’re not going alone.

*Harvey seems a bit shocked*

C’mon, south wing right? I won’t let my best bud run into danger alone.

…okay.. kay! Let’s go.. go then!

*The two begun to, cautiously, make their way to the south wing of the school. They both have different reactions to the odd happenings. Alexander seems freaked out, especially by the quilt ground when he steps on it. Harvey seems confused, but determined to make the trek*

"Ex-fucking-scuse me? In the middle of my coffee too. Damn. What number of Overblots do we have now? There was all the housewardens plus Jamil, me, fuck I don't remember." Janus gets out of his seat and puts on his fluffy cardigan calmly, and takes a final sip of his iced coffee.

"Well, I doubt chocolate milk rain is dangerous, but still. Gross. I hope that this building isn't floating though-" He eats his words as he leaves the cafeteria and looks out the window to see the ground very far away from the window.

"Fuck."

He approached the door, knocking softly and awaiting a response.

"Shiyuu? Are you there? I would like to discuss something with you, if that would be alright."

There's a knock at Ramshackle's door. Opening up, a strange cat beastwoman in very ruffly garb stands and stares, her yellow eyes gazing unblinking at the resident who answered the door.

"Hello. I've come to inquire about a few things and I've heard that those of mew living in the Ramshaclaw dorm here could help meowt were I to have some meownner of purroblem?"

[Shiyuu opens the door. He looks confused, but somehow recognizes this person (or should I say…PURRSON).] “Ah, yeah…you seem familiar? Have we met before?”

A never-ending hunger for power that consumes all and leaves naught but despair in its wake. This night, too, shall be embraced in its all-enconpassing maw.

The lights in the auditorium flickered slowly - a sign that most audience members might have taken to mean that the show will resume momentarily.

It wouldn't have been an unreasonable assumption, certainly - after all, the sound of moving rigging could be heard, as well as the (presumably) eager shuffling of actors and crew members behind the scenes.

Of course, the shuffling turned into an argument that began to grow in volume, going from hushed whispers to borderline shouting behind as some sort of conflict unfolded backstage.

As the lights flickered, the movement slowly became more erratic, almost dangerously so. An anguished cry rang out from behind the curtains, and what looked to be ink began to leak from underneath, emitting an acrid scent that filled the room.

The entire room fell into a brief silence as lightbulbs began to burst, covering the room in a pitch black darkness, a sound that only grew into a crescendo as the curtains were struck by an unseen force, sending them hurtling to the ground with a crash.

The auditorium was sent into a panic as students, staff, and guests alike began scrambling about and a shaky voice quickly came over the speakers.

"Attention all guests: Please evacuate the premises immediately. The emergency lights will activate momentarily, so please try to remain calm as you exit- there will be staff members on the scene to redirect you to a safe lo-"

Another crash was heard, followed by another cry.

As the voice on the intercom had stated, though, the emergency lights did indeed flicker on. The salvation from the darkness did not last long, though, before the light was quickly absorbed by something in the darkness.

Those who looked at the stage could, for the briefest moment, see something unfathomably massive hulking about before being enveloped once more in shadows.

“Shit shit shit shit shit…!” [Red eyes flicker to life in the darkened auditorium. Wuzhi has awoken her powers!]

[Somewhere towards the back, a cat person slowly wakes up…then very suddenly jolts upright, running backstage.]

“Ah—Hey, you! Be careful! It’s dangerous!—” [Shiyuu shouts, running after the (surprisingly fast redhead. Wuzhi follows suit.]

[The redhead doesn’t respond, pulling up the curtains and using magic to turn on the lights.]

“Ugh…where am I…?” [Slowly sitting up, they look around. Everything seemed…bigger than they remembered things being. Trees weren’t normally so tall, at least they thought so. What had happened to them?] “What in the…?”

[The Eevee’s ears perk up when it hears a noise behind them. Whipping around, they find…you.]
