I might grow a plant.

Currently I'm actually trying to grow over twenty five plants, mostly strawberries, spiderplants and sempervivum but these are all for eating.

Not by me, except maybe the strawberries if I'm left any, but for my birds as their grass in the aviary has been mostly ruined by them, at one point last summer it grew so long I had to get a machete (obviously I can't get a lawnmower in there) to cut it but now its barely more than just dirt. So I'm growing these as I know they like sempervivum (they actually killed two by eating so much of it. I expect it to grow back being sempervivum and all but it shows you exactly how bad they are for it), and they've eaten a spiderplant before, and hopefully the strawberry will encourage them to eat fruit, normally it just gets left by them.

They're all safe for them to eat, and actually mostly clones, the spiderplants have all come off my big one I took from my old school (they had them so I took one of their little ones coming off one day and grew it, far nicer than the ones they had there despite being biologically identical), the strawberries are the same, just runners I cut off, and the sempervivum are some I grew last year, they're not ALL identical but many are.

But ANYWAY.

This is the logic for me getting a plant to keep.

I heard this thing, that of course a plant is a living organism. However it cannot forget to call you. It cannot have arguments with you. It cannot chew your shoes or your books or bite you. It cannot hurt you unless you let it (like a cactus or getting a poisonous one, although what if I keep it on a shelf and it grows so much it pushes itself (gradually) off the shelf and onto my head one night?).

It cannot cuddle you. It cannot whisper sweet nothings into your ear. It cannot cook for you.

All it can do is grow and flower and possibly bear fruit for you.

And it will do that for anyone if they look after it.

The more I think about it the more it seems a silly idea.

As if I need to get attached to more things that don't actually need specifically you. Nothing needs specifically me.
