{Fuck This One Fish In Particular}
Tumblr media
{A true dedication to my petty hatred of how Yona is just forced heterosexuality. Enjoy the vent fic ~}
{The inspiration behind this fic was some immature arguments being made against people who hate Yona due to how forced hetero her whole inclusion was. People online have started saying things like "Anyone who hates Yona is just a misogynist" and "Thank god Yona broke the delusions of Sidelinkers" so ya know, that's homophobic as fuck. So here we are! Let the demonization of forced heterosexuality begin MWAHAHAHA}
The day of the wedding. A day Sidon had been dreading for a long time now. His father was unable to be reasoned with at this time, with his illness making him a tad senile. Sidon could only watch as his future was bought and paid for by the father of his former friend Yona. He knew Yona had liked him for a number of years, but he never imagined that she could be so evil as to be in on the scheme herself. He surely would find out however, many years later....
The Past
Sidon once again sat by his fathers side, the illness from the black sludge was getting worse and he had no idea how to stop it. He sighed deeply as his father seemed to struggle to breath. It pained him to see his only living family seemingly being stolen from him again. On top of that;
“Darling~” her voice made him shiver, and not in delight. His former friend Yona was here again. He dreaded seeing her.
“What is it... Lady Yona?” the normally helpful and supportive Zora prince could barely muster politeness when it came to addressing Yona. She was obsessed with him, ever since she was little she'd been stalking him. He'd been so afraid of her as a child and it was no less so knowing what he knows now.
“Perhaps we could talk now my beloved-” she tried to reach out to touch him and he spun in the same direction to basically twirl away from her touch. “Forgive me, Lady Yona, I must see to the purification of the waters above, excuse me.” Sidon felt deeply guilty for leaving his father alone with Yona in his state, but he had faith in the royal guard to protect his father if Yona tried anything. If only he'd known...
Sidon stayed by his elder sister's memorial pools, purifying the waters and secretly praying for his sister's protection. She'd been the only one who'd tried to protect him from Yona and when she died there was no one left to object. Yona's father had lied to everyone about how Sidon and Yona felt about one another. He knew his daughter had wanted Sidon but Sidon hated his child. So he lied to the king and told him Sidon and Yona got on rather well and suggested the arrangement. At first when his sister was alive she'd call Yona's father out on his lies but after her death, someone was appointed to keep Yona's father from lying but that person was from Yona's distant family and lied in order to secure the arranged marriage. Sidon felt so lost.
Even though he was a prince he felt powerless. He wondered if his sister had ever felt that way. She must have. He looked to the statue of his sister with deep sadness, tears welling in his eyes the likes of which he showed no one else. Well, no one except....
“Sidon!”
Sidon jerked instinctively towards the sound of their voice. “Lumine..? Link?” They were paragliding down to him like angels in the night. The two of them landed, one in a roll tumbling into the water. The roller was Link.
Sidon burst out laughing, a feeling of relief and joy washing away the dread of Yona. Lumine was a Hylian demi-girl who often got called by her nickname, Lumi. She had deep dark brown hair that curled at the bottoms and was always lying chaotically about. He loved the sight of them. One trying to hold their hair back the other dripping wet from falling into the water. Both of them smiling at him with warmth in their eyes. He wiped his previous tears away and gave them his signature big toothy grin.
“My friends!” he opened his arms out wide to welcome them and without hesitation both lunatics charged up at him. They jumped into his arms, their collective weight making him fall back into the pool with them into a great wet whale of a hug. They were all giggling like idiots when the guards returned from a shift change. They first looked happily at the trio then their faces immediately dropped. They quickly recovered and put on their neutral 'I'm-just-a-guard-I-saw-nothing' face before taking their places near their prince and his cherished ones.
“Ah Lindo, Nara, I don't suppose...” the prince never had been one to mince words but this topic was particularly hard to vocalize. As his personal guards, Lindo and Nara were aware of how repulsed their prince was of Yona. Sadly as lowly guards if they dared make a fuss they would be killed by Yona's family so they keep their heads down and simply act as look outs in case Yona comes around.
“No need to say anything your majesty, we know what your heart most desires.” they stated before bowing and taking their places dutifully by the edge of the only path leading to this place.
Sidon felt a wave of relief as he turned back to see his dear friends looking at him confused.
“Ah, I'm sorry, I..” he debated not telling them but as he looked to his sister's stature again, he could almost feel that them being there was the help his sister was sending. He took a deep breath.
“I have been sorely needing your help. I feel very lost.” Lumine and Link came to sit on either side of their favorite Zora as he recounted his tales of Yona and the scary obsession she has had with him every since they were young.
“I've never liked her, not even when she was a child which sounds cruel. However any time any female of my race tried to even speak to me when she was living here back then, she would find ways to silently abuse them, making their lives miserable until they stopped speaking with me. She even...” he hesitated for a moment.
“I have never been able to prove it but once I had a crush on a purple Zora woman, Diona. She was beautiful but she was a lesbian which meant I could never be with her but one day her body- or rather, pieces of her body, turned up at the base of a cliff. She looked like she'd been mauled by a monster than throw over the edge.” he explained as the two listened to him quietly. He continued:
“I know it was Yona, a monster would have left only bones wherever it had decided to eat her and a Zora did bring this up. Directly after the Zora who made this claim left, he was also found dead. My father could see how suspicious that was and so could my sister. She made it clear that she believed Yona and her family were behind these murders. Especially after admitting that Diona, had told her she was being summoned by Yona for a “date” which made her believe Yona had baited Diona into meeting her on the cliff and brutally murdered her.”
“Wow.” Lumi seemed to be processing what she was hearing still. “So then, what did your father say?”
Sidon sighed “There wasn't enough hard evidence to prove Yona did it and her father had been nothing but an upstanding Zora until this point. However Yona's father suspiciously left the kingdom for a while during the time my sister became a champion. He and Yona only returned after her death to force my father into agreeing on this arranged marriage.” Sidon held his head in his hands unable to cope with all that he'd been dealing with right then.
However, as always, he felt a hand on either side of his back, gently comforting him with their presence.
“I fear Yona, she's dangerous and so is her family, if I ask any Zora for help they will be killed, when I prayed to my sister to save me... Like angels you two seemed to just fall from the sky to wash away the fear.” he admitted shyly. “Will you please help me?”
To be continued...
