Skel wanted a service Sikeri for their Katragoon Sebastian, and my Katragoon, Percy, trains assistance and therapy Sikeri, so I did this drawing of them together meeting Sebastian’s new service Sik, Pollux. I’ve drawn Pollux doing the task for DPT cause it’s one of the tasks my own service dog does for me

When my grandma was spending her last days in a nursing home, my family would of course try to make sure she was as happy, comfortable, and well looked after as possible.

Luckily, the facility she was inwas filled with such amazing staff members that we didn’t have to worry too much. It’s always tough to see a loved one nearing the end of their lives, and they too often go ignored when the reality becomes too painful for some.

That’s why its so essential forneighbors to offer support regardless of whether or not they happen to know someone in one of their town’s nursing homes and assisted living communities.

Of course the one thing that means the most to those folks:Getting the chance to spend time together.It’s one thing to donate a few of the items below, but it would make it evensweeter if they were able to make a new friend at the same time.

1. Diabetic Socks

It’s common among residents to have diabetes and those special socks make life so much more comfortable for them. Just be sure they’re slip resistant!

2. Pampering

You don’t have to be a professional salon stylist to help them feel special.Chatting with them while you paint their nails or give their hair a simple new style is all it takes.

3. Cute Stationary

Since theyhaven’t necessarily jumped on the technology bandwagon to keep in touch with their loved ones, stationary and all-occasion greeting cards come in handy and be sure to include stamps!

4. Large-Print Books

Reading is one of the best ways for them to pass the time and keep their minds sharp, and the larger font will help make sure everyone has the ability to enjoy them.

5. Magazine Subscriptions

These have a similar benefit tobooks, but having it be a subscription gives them something to look forward to every now and then, too!

6. Puzzles And Board Games

Keeping their minds active is especially important for warding off dementia, andplayingthrough a few rounds of Candy Land would definitely put a smile on their face at the same time!

7. Crafting Kits

Art isa great tool for keeping their mind active, too, and gives them an opportunity to channel their emotions in a way they might not be able to articulate otherwise.

8. Flashlights

A former nursing home employeerevealed this was one of the requests she got most often from residents who wanted to sneak in a few extra moments of reading without bugging any potential roommates or find their things in the dark more easily. Night lights are also commonly requested.

9. Air Fresheners

No one likes living in stale air, after all, and you can even find something with essential oils to disinfect any germs flying around the rooms.

10. House Plants

Keeping in mind their various energy levels, these low-maintenance plants are a perfect way to provide a manageable responsibility they can feel proud of each day.

11. Fresh Fruit

This is another frequently requested item according to nursing home employees, and it’s better for them than hard candy. You can even set up amonthly delivery, but be sure to keep any dietary restrictions in mind.
