BEAUTY TIPS FOR BRIDES WHO WEAR GLASSES
Tumblr media
Few things are more beautiful than a radiantly happy bride on her wedding day. But, if you wear eyeglasses, you may wonder whether your look will be good enough to get the photographer to snap that perfect shot. It's not uncommon for brides to wear eyeglasses on their wedding day for comfort or fashion reasons. Some even love to wear eyeglasses because they're a part of who they are.
However, there are several potential issues that you need to be aware of if you'll be wearing eyeglasses on your big day. From how you style your hair to how you take care of your makeup, there are many things to consider when planning your wedding day beauty regimen.
This article discusses tips and tricks to help you achieve your dream wedding day look with your glasses on.
Tumblr media
MAKE YOUR GLASSES A FEATURE
Your wedding day is one of the most memorable days of your life, so it's okay to splurge a little on yourself. Weeks or even months before the big day, consider getting a pair of new eyeglasses that will perfectly match your wedding dress. If you'd like to make your glasses a part of your wedding day beauty look, opt for a pair that is simple and classic but sleek and sophisticated. Investing in new eyeglasses is also a great idea because you can use them even after the wedding day is over.
You can also easily make a pair of eyeglasses the focal point of your look. Whether it's through bold colored frames or fun decorative lenses, your glasses can become the "it" accessory on your wedding day. Meanwhile, if you are more of a classic bride, a pair of eyeglasses with a simple design and neutral color can be just as glamorous.
Tumblr media
HAIRSTYLE & ACCESSORIES
Wearing glasses does not mean you can't have gorgeous hair on your wedding day. If you want to find the perfect hair accessories and style that will match your pair of eyeglasses, the best way to do this is to schedule a mock styling session with your wedding hairstylist. This way, you can see the kind of style you want and what will work best with the frame of your specs.
You also need to consider the accessories you'll be wearing on your big day. It may not be a good idea to wear a statement necklace or bold earrings while wearing your glasses. The key to finding the right pieces is considering the frame of your specs. If it's thick, go for a piece that is simple and feminine. If it's thin and sleek, a more ornate accessory can make a great addition to your wedding look.
Tumblr media
LASHES & LINERS
Since the lenses of your eyeglasses will cover your eyes, you need to wear eye makeup that is more defined. It doesn't have to be complicated at all. You only need a few things: mascara that helps your lashes appear thicker and longer, a liner that makes your eyes pop, and an eyeshadow that makes your eyes look bigger.
It's best to avoid fake eyelashes if you are planning on wearing your eyeglasses on your wedding day. If you really want to use them, opt for short faux lashes that won't interfere with your specs' lenses. You should also ask your makeup artist to glue them securely on your eyelids to ensure they don't fall off during the night.
Tumblr media
COLORS THAT COMPLIMENT YOUR GLASSES
If you intend on wearing a white wedding dress on your big day, opt for a neutral-colored frame for your eyeglasses. This way, they won't overpower your white gown and create a contrast that may end up looking awkward. Frames with a brushed metallic finish in gold or silver are also excellent choices because they will add a touch of sophistication and glamor to your wedding outfit.
During the reception, you have the freedom to wear any colored frame that you want. The color you choose doesn't have to match the color of your dress. However, you can try to choose a complementary color that will help blend with the dress.
Tumblr media
CONTOUR & CONCEAL
One of the most often overlooked yet easiest makeup tricks is contouring. Applying concealer and a brightening powder can enhance your features and make them appear more flawless and defined. When it comes to your eyes, you need to use a light-reflecting formulated concealer to offset the shadow cast from your eyeglasses.
Consider using light and neutral shades of concealer under your eyes to compensate for the shadows cast by your glasses. Then, add a translucent powder for the most natural look. You want to keep the appearance of your eye makeup light, so do not overdo it by using a thick formula.
Tumblr media
DON'T FORGET YOUR EYEBROWS
Your eyebrows can give your face its most defining features. Even if you are wearing a pair of eyeglasses on your big day, you should pay close attention to the shape of your eyebrows. Your eyebrows can make or break your look, so be sure to spend some time on them before your wedding.
Months before your big day, you can go for microblading, a semi-permanent treatment that will help add definition to your brows. This safe, non-invasive treatment can give you a thick eyebrow with little to no downtime. Plus, it lasts about six months, so you'll have plenty of time to prepare.
Tumblr media
Your wedding day will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so take the time to really put some effort into making your hair, makeup, dress, and eyeglasses look flawless. Treat your pair of eyeglasses like an accessory that can highlight the best features of your face on your big day, and you'll start to realize how amazing your eyes are with a pair of specs.
Lastly, no matter what type of frame or style you choose, it's crucial that you are confident and comfortable in whatever you decide to wear on your big day. After all, the most important thing to remember is that you should feel beautiful on your wedding day because when you walk down the aisle, you will meet the love of your life.

Discover Affordable and Elegant Bridal Jewelry
Weddings are a time of celebration and elegance, and choosing the right bridal jewelry can enhance the beauty and grace of the bride. However, finding affordable and elegant bridal jewelry can be a challenge. Fortunately, modern brides can discover a range of stunning options that combine affordability with sophistication. Here’s a guide to finding the perfect bridal jewelry without breaking the bank.
Elegant Necklaces on a Budget
When searching for affordable bridal jewelry, necklaces are a key component to consider. You don’t need to spend a fortune to find an elegant necklace that complements your wedding dress. Opt for designs that use high-quality cubic zirconia or other gemstone alternatives, which offer the same sparkle as diamonds at a fraction of the cost. Delicate chains with minimalist pendants can also provide a chic and timeless look. Affordable bridal jewelry necklaces come in various styles, from simple solitaire pendants to more intricate designs that offer a touch of elegance.
Stylish Earrings That Don’t Compromise on Quality
Earrings are another essential piece of bridal jewelry. For brides looking for both style and savings, affordable options are plentiful. Classic pearl or crystal stud earrings offer a sophisticated look that pairs well with any bridal gown. Drop earrings with smaller gemstones or intricate metalwork can also make a beautiful statement without exceeding your budget. Many jewelers offer collections of affordable bridal jewelry earrings that blend classic beauty with modern elegance.
Charming Bracelets for Less
Bridal bracelets can add a touch of refinement to the bride’s outfit. Affordable bridal jewelry bracelets often feature designs that incorporate sparkling stones or delicate metals. Thin, dainty bracelets or bangles can be just as eye-catching as more elaborate pieces. Consider options that use imitation gemstones or less expensive metals, such as silver or gold-plated materials, which still deliver an elegant appearance. Affordable bridal jewelry bracelets allow you to add a sophisticated touch without stretching your budget.
Affordable Hair Accessories for a Polished Look
Hair accessories are a wonderful way to add a final touch of elegance to your bridal ensemble. Affordable bridal jewelry hairpieces, such as sparkling hairpins, combs, or headbands, can enhance your hairstyle without a hefty price tag. Look for designs that incorporate faux pearls, crystals, or intricate metalwork for a polished and refined look. Many bridal boutiques offer a range of affordable options that ensure your hair accessories complement your overall bridal jewelry.
Custom and Personalized Options
For those seeking something unique, affordable custom and personalized bridal jewelry can be a great choice. Many jewelers offer customization services that allow you to create one-of-a-kind pieces at reasonable prices. From engraved charms to custom-designed necklaces, personalized bridal jewelry can add a special touch to your wedding attire. Working with a jeweler to design your own pieces ensures you get exactly what you want while keeping costs in check.
In conclusion, discovering affordable and elegant bridal jewelry is entirely possible with a bit of research and creativity. By exploring options like delicate necklaces, stylish earrings, charming bracelets, and chic hair accessories, modern brides can find beautiful pieces that fit their budget. Personalized and custom options further provide unique touches that make the wedding day even more memorable. With these tips, you can find bridal jewelry that offers both elegance and affordability, ensuring you look stunning on your special day.

From everyday essentials to special occasion pieces, the world of hair accessories offers a wide variety of options. Here’s an ultimate guide to understanding and utilizing assorted hair accessories to enhance your style.
Hair Clips
Hair clips are versatile and come in various shapes, sizes, and designs. Classic bobby pins are perfect for securing stray hairs or creating sleek updos, while embellished clips with pearls, rhinestones, or floral designs add a touch of elegance to any hairstyle. Snap clips and alligator clips are great for quick and easy styles, offering both functionality and fashion.
Headbands
Headbands are timeless accessories that can be worn in numerous ways. Wide headbands made of fabric or leather can give a boho-chic vibe, while thin, jeweled headbands are ideal for a more polished, sophisticated look. For a sporty or casual style, elastic headbands are both practical and stylish, keeping hair away from the face during physical activities.
Hair Ties
Hair ties, also known as ponytail holders, are essential for anyone with long hair. They come in different materials, including fabric-covered elastics, scrunchies, and spiral hair ties. Scrunchies, in particular, have made a significant comeback, offering a retro look while being gentle on the hair. Spiral hair ties are known for their ability to hold hair without leaving creases, making them a popular choice for those who frequently switch between wearing their hair up and down.
Hair Bands
Hair bands, or hair elastics, are similar to hair ties but are designed to create more intricate hairstyles. They can be used to create braids, ponytails, or buns and often come with added features such as beads, charms, or decorative ties that enhance the overall look.
Barrettes
Barrettes are decorative clips that come in various sizes and designs, ranging from simple and functional to ornate and decorative. They can be used to hold larger sections of hair or simply to add a decorative touch to an existing hairstyle. Metal barrettes with intricate designs or gemstone embellishments are perfect for special occasions, while simple plastic or wooden barrettes are ideal for everyday wear.
Hair Pins
Hair pins, including U-shaped pins and decorative hair sticks, are perfect for securing updos and adding a touch of elegance. U-shaped pins are great for holding buns and French twists in place, while decorative hair sticks can be both functional and ornamental, offering a sophisticated look.
Combs
Hair combs are not only tools for detangling hair but also serve as stylish accessories. Decorative combs can be used to secure sections of hair in updos or half-up styles. They often feature embellishments such as pearls, crystals, or intricate metalwork, making them suitable for weddings and formal events.
Scarves and Bandanas
Scarves and bandanas are versatile accessories that can be worn in a variety of ways. They can be tied around the head as a headband, wrapped around a ponytail, or even used to cover the entire head. Silk scarves add a touch of luxury and can transform a simple hairstyle into a chic and elegant look.
Hair Chains and Headpieces
Hair chains and headpieces are unique accessories that are perfect for making a statement. Hair chains drape across the hair, creating a bohemian or ethereal look, while headpieces, such as tiaras and crowns, are ideal for formal events or themed parties. These accessories often feature intricate designs and are adorned with jewels, making them perfect for special occasions.
Conclusion
Assorted hair accessories offer endless possibilities for creativity and personal expression. Whether you prefer the simplicity of a classic hair tie or the glamour of a jeweled headpiece, there’s an accessory for every style and occasion. Experimenting with different accessories can transform your look, allowing you to express your unique personality and style effortlessly. So, don’t be afraid to mix and match, and discover the perfect hair accessories that work for you.

Fulani Braids Ideas A Timeless Trend in African Hairstyles
African hairstyles are known for their diversity and cultural significance, with each region and ethnic group offering a unique approach to hair braiding. One of the most enduring and cherished styles is Fulani braids. Originating from the Fulani people of West Africa, Fulani braids have gained popularity worldwide for their elegance, versatility, and intricate designs. In this article, we will explore Fulani braids ideas, their cultural significance, and how to achieve these stunning looks.
The Origins and Cultural Significance
Fulani braids, also known as Fulani cornrows, are deeply rooted in the rich cultural heritage of the Fulani people, who predominantly inhabit West Africa, particularly countries like Mali, Senegal, Guinea, Nigeria, and Niger. Traditionally, Fulani women used these braids to express their identity and social status within the community. The braids were adorned with various accessories such as beads, shells, and even precious metals, signifying beauty and wealth.
Today, Fulani braids have transcended their cultural origins and are celebrated globally as a symbol of African heritage and a form of artistic expression. These braids not only showcase the beauty of African hair but also serve as a connection to the past, preserving the cultural significance of the Fulani people.
Fulani Braids Ideas
Classic Fulani Braids:
This style features thin to medium-sized cornrows that run along the sides of the head, with a center part. The braids are usually adorned with Fulani beads or metallic rings, which enhance the aesthetic appeal.
Fulani-Inspired Twists:
For those who prefer twists over traditional braids, Fulani-inspired twists offer a fresh twist on the classic style. They involve twisting the hair into thin, rope-like strands, often with added extensions, and adorning them with beads and accessories.
High Bun Fulani Braids:
To add a touch of elegance to the traditional Fulani braids, gather the braids into a high bun or topknot. This look is perfect for formal events or a chic everyday style.
Fulani Fulcrum:
This unique style involves creating a circular crown of braids around the head, resembling a halo. It can be paired with a variety of hairstyles, such as long flowing hair or a simple ponytail.
Fulani Goddess Braids:
These braids are bigger and thicker than the classic Fulani braids. They often include more intricate patterns and can be accessorized with cowrie shells, beads, and other adornments to exude a regal, goddess-like vibe.
Fulani Ponytail:
Pull your Fulani braids into a high or low ponytail, creating an elegant, practical look for any occasion.
Fulani Braids with a Side Sweep:
Let one side of your Fulani braids fall freely while the other is intricately braided. This asymmetrical style adds a touch of edginess to the traditional look.
Maintenance and Care
Maintaining Fulani braids is relatively simple, but it's essential to keep them looking fresh and healthy. Regularly moisturize your scalp to prevent dryness and itchiness. Use a silk or satin bonnet or pillowcase to protect your braids while sleeping. When washing, focus on the scalp and use a diluted shampoo to avoid excessive product buildup. Ensure you keep your braids in for the recommended time to prevent damage to your natural hair.
Fulani braids are more than just a hairstyle; they are a symbol of cultural heritage, beauty, and individuality. These braids have stood the test of time and continue to captivate people of all backgrounds. Whether you choose a classic Fulani braid or add your own twist to this iconic style, you are embracing a tradition that spans generations. Celebrate the beauty and artistry of African hair with Fulani braids and make a statement that transcends borders and time.

Women have worn braids for thousands of years all over the world. The style is one of the most versatile, running from incredibly intricate patterns to simple plaits. Braids are also perfect for almost every occasion. Whether you’re in the office, at school, in the gym, or even at a wedding, a braided hairstyle is ideal for you. Even better, depending on your hair type, braids can protect your strands from damage and help you grow your mane longer. Keep scrolling to discover all the different braided hairstyles for women.
1. Box Braids
Classic box braids are one of the most iconic styles for Afro-textured hair. All your hair will be sectioned into squares and worked into individual plaits to get this look. You can use your hair or have extensions braided in, giving you head-turning long, full locks. They are considered a protective style and can be any length or thickness; however, if you have naturally thin or fine hair, opt for smaller box braids so your scalp has less tension. While box braids take a long time to put in, once finished, they last for weeks and are very low-maintenance.

2. French Braid
A timeless and feminine style, the French braid is a classic for a reason. You can wear this versatile braid for a casual brunch, the gym, or the office. Keep it smooth for a professional look, or pull a few face-framing pieces out for a soft and romantic vibe. You can also team it with a fishtail braid or half up half down hairstyle, and French braids are also a popular hairstyle for wedding guests. Whatever the occasion, a French braid is a perfect choice.
Tumblr media
3. Braided Ponytail
If you’re looking for a new way to style your braids, the simplest option is a high ponytail. The style is popular because it draws the eye up, making your face seem longer. It’s also versatile, working equally well for the office, school, gym, or date night. To make your braided ponytail look perfectly polished, secure it with a clear, snag-free elastic and wrap some of your braids around to cover it. Finally, add hair accessories for some extra personality.

4. Dutch Braid
Dutch braids are an underhand braided hairstyle, meaning your hair will stand out from your head rather than lying flat. It’s a classic three-strand technique, which means if you’re familiar with creating a standard plait, the Dutch braid follows the same pattern. Because both plaits require you to add sections of hair gradually, the Dutch braid is sometimes called the ‘reverse French braid.’ It’s a great way to take a standard plait hairstyle to the next level or create double braids and crown braids for a formal occasion.
Tumblr media
5. Crochet Braids
The crochet technique is one of the simplest and easiest ways to get extra-long braids. Like a weave, crochet involves first braiding your hair into loose cornrows. This cornrow pattern forms the foundation for your crochet braids. Next, hair extensions are threaded through and secured using a crochet hook before being plaited into your braid style of choice. You can also have ready-made braids secured, such as box braids which dramatically cut the time it takes to put in your braids. That makes it a convenient option if you don’t have an extra day to spend in the stylist’s chair.
Tumblr media
6. Lemonade Braids
Lemonade braids were made famous by Beyoncé, who wore them on the cover of her smash hit album Lemonade. The style involves creating neat, even, and close cornrows that go from left to right rather than straight back. Lemonade braids are a versatile look as they can be any size or thickness, and you can also combine them with other cornrow styles like zig-zag or add accessories like rings and beads.
Tumblr media
7. Fishtail Braid
A festival classic, the fishtail braid brings a touch of boho to any look. It’s one of the simplest braids to create because it doesn’t involve a complicated pattern. However, you must separate your hair into small sections – about half an inch – and keep the tension throughout the braid to avoid it falling apart. You can begin the fishtail at any point on your head, using a French or Dutch braiding technique, which means it will work on short hair as well as long. A double fishtail is also a great way to wear this look.
Tumblr media
8. Feed-in Braids
Also known as ‘knotless’ braids, feed-in braids are even better for protecting your hair than most other styles. To create super long box braids or cornrows, the stylist will usually secure extensions to your natural hair with a knot. With this technique, the stylist will gradually ‘feed’ the extensions in – plaiting them together with your real locks for a seamless blend. The result? Braids that have less bulk and put less tension on your scalp. They will also flow like real hair, giving you all the extra length you want with a natural finish.

Before you decide on a hair accessory, consult your stylist, and consider your style and the overall theme of the wedding. Makeup and Beauty Accessories  If you're not a makeup artist (and even if you are), you'll likely have one on your wedding day. However, investing in high-quality makeup kits and brushes can help you retain the flawless look that lasts all day. You may want to consider including the following items: Foundation Choose the best foundation that matches your skin tone and type. Lipstick: A beautiful lipstick shade can add color and polish to your look. Go with an option that complements your skin tone and the wedding theme. Eyeliner: This solution helps define and accentuate your eyes. Choose a waterproof formula to prevent smudging and smearing. False lashes: They can help enhance your natural lashes and add drama to your eyes. Lashes that look natural and comfortable are ideal for the big day. Blush: A touch of blush can add a healthy glow to your cheeks. Makeup brushes: Quality makeup brushes are essential for achieving a flawless and blended look. A set of brushes that includes a variety of sizes and shapes is recommended. Hair styling tools: Depending on the bride's desired hairstyle, hair styling tools such as curling irons, straighteners, and hair dryers may be needed. Beauty blender: This sponge blends foundation and other makeup products for a seamless finish. Makeup setting spray: A setting spray can help makeup last longer and prevent smudging or melting.  The choice of bridal makeup depends on your preference. It's a good idea to collaborate with a team of expert artists to find the most suitable beauty accessories for your style. Additional Accessories Even with all the items and bridal features mentioned above, you can still add a few more accessories to enhance your look further. Consider the following options: Gloves: These timeless accessories can add a touch of vintage glamour to your outfit, while a garter is a fun and playful addition that can be a great keepsake. Shawl or wrap: A shawl or wrap can be a fantastic addition to your wedding day outfit, especially if you're getting married in a colder season. Floppy sun hat: This is an excellent choice to consider if you're holding a beach wedding. Belt or sash: These can help accentuate your waistline and add a touch of glamour to your dress. However, not all dresses require a belt, so be careful with this accessory, as it can work against you. Jacket: A jacket is an excellent option for a winter wedding and can add a touch of sophistication to your outfit. Choosing additional bridal accessories can be tricky because any mismatch can spoil your overall beauty. So, you must select a style that matches your wedding theme and personal style. Conclusion To sum up, choosing the right bridal accessories is essential to make your wedding day go well. Your accessories should reflect both your personality and the theme of the event. Essential accessories like jewelry, veils, clutches, bridal shoes, hair accessories, and makeup can help you achieve a stunning and unforgettable look. Don't forget to add fun with traditional items like the bridal garter. Seeking expert advice and staying true to your style and wedding theme will help you create a bridal look that will be cherished for years. Read the full article

60 Updos for Thin Hair That Score Maximum Style Point
#27: Half Mohawk Knot Get creative with this interpretation of a half Mohawk knot on your long hair. It might take time to get used to creating hairstyles like this, but it’s definitely worth it. They create more hair texture than classic chignons.

@taylor_hill / Design by Camden Dechert Crafting an updo when you don't have thick texture to begin with can be a challenging feat. But here at Byrdie, we're not afraid of a good beauty challenge. There are plenty of tricks that can help finer strands pull off the illusion of volume, texture, and movement rather than channeling a disappearing act. The next time you want to dress up your strands, you can turn to this list for ideas and tips to help guide you on that journey.Keep reading for 30 of our favorite updo ideas for thin hair.01 of 30Playfully Parted Ponytail GETTY Here's an easy hair style that's been nabbed straight from the runway—a playfully parted ponytail. Your best tool to achieving this look is going to be your rat tail comb for nailing those precise lines.Use hair powder or eyeshadow that matches your hair color to fill in any areas where the scalp is peeking through other than the partings. This will give the illusion of fullness and help define those strong, clean partings.02 of 30Ditch the Parting GETTY Eliminating your usual parting and bringing the hair fully back can help your 'do appear fuller by avoiding any peaks of the scalp and potentially exposing just how close it might be to the surface.03 of 30Create Contrast GETTY Allowing for some contrast in the hair will provide a guide for the eyes to follow. This half-up style's overdirected side parting gives volume up top in contrast to its sleeked back sides and stick straight ends below.04 of 30Origami Buns GETTY Creating shape(s) in the hair is a beautiful way to add dimension to finer strands. This is especially fun when creating an updo with the help of hair extensions. You can tape or clip a small weft of extra length around any ponytail and scrunch it up into a figure 8 to create similar origami style buns, like the ones seen here. Secure your buns in the center with a hair elastic, but don't forget to add a fun accent to cover that elastic up, like some gold or silver cord.05 of 30Added Texture GETTY When you have thin strands, you always want to begin by prepping the hair with added texture before crafting your updo. Blow-dry an even layer of volumizing mousse or primer into dry or wet hair from roots to ends, over directing your hair from side to side and flipping your head upside down to help create lift at the roots while you dry.Once the product is fully dry, turn to Bumble & Bumble's Dry Spun Thickening Spray—this is a must-have product that will plump up fine strands and give them texture. This prep work will not only thicken up your fishtail or any other braid you create to then swirl up into a low bun, but it's also guaranteed to give you transformative results.06 of 30Hair Freckles GETTY Add some bling to your pulled back 'do by adhering stick-on pearls or gemstones scattered throughout the hair. This freckled look adds a hint of decadence, but still plays it cool.07 of 30Messy Movement GETTY To add that perfectly messy movement to your updo, spray an even layer of BedHead by Tigi's Queen For A Day throughout the hair while damp or dry, and blow dry the product in well. You'll notice an immediate shift in those fine strands, with more grit and hold for styling and a plumper, fuller all-around look. Finish the hair off with a little Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray and flip your hair around to get that imperfect parting to match.08 of 30Adorn Your 'Do GETTY If your updo is taking you somewhere, give it a little extra something special. A flurry of florals—fresh or faux—is an excellent addition to your average chignon. And the best part is, there's truly no learning curve or specialty to the way you bring your hair up and back. Let the adornments take center stage while you cruise through the lack of styling effort.09 of 30Front Pouf GETTY Front poufs, or "bumps," may have had their moment in time circa the early 2000s, but for finer strands, this look never really leaves the repertoire. A little backcombing secured with bobby pins is too easy a fix to toss to the curb. Whip this fad out to help frame your updo with a little extra "oomph."10 of 30Wrap Around Pony GETTY This is a classic bubble ponytail without the bubbles, and it's a great updo option for fine hair at medium to long lengths. Ditch the teased up sections for a clean, chic take on this fashion-forward ponytail. The trick to wearing this look on fine hair is adding a point of interest over your elastics. Instead of sparing those thin, precious strands to wrap around each base, bring in some reinforcements like the gold cord seen here.11 of 30Fluffy Volume GETTY To get that effortlessly airy texture into your updos, distribute a soft hold volumizing mousse and place flat duck bill clips or no-crease clips vertically around the hairline to hold the hair up as you diffuse. The clips will help keep those roots lifted while the heat alters your hair into the desired form, creating a voluminous base for your updo.12 of 30Sculpted High Bun GETTY Tight and sleek high buns are a great updo option for thin hair. Wrap your hair into a few different twists using a styling cream to help it stay smooth and tame. These twists will give your topknot a sculpted, dimensional look.13 of 30Consider Your Cut GETTY When you have fine hair, the haircut you have is of the utmost importance. Blunt ends, layers, and even bangs can be of huge assistance in keeping your hair lively and looking its best, no matter how you style it.14 of 30Space Buns GETTY You may not have a ton of hair for two thick, braided space buns, but these little guys seen here prove a ton of hair isn't needed to look super cute. When all else fails, don't hesitate to braid a weft of hair in! It's an easy option with no strings (or clips) attached.15 of 30Pompadours GETTY A pompadour is such a fun style to play around with, and works especially well on shorter lengths. Use some thickening spray and a brush or comb to lift the roots up and away from the scalp. If you want more of a curled and controlled look like the one seen here, turn to your round brush to direct your desired movement. Finalize the look by bringing the sides back for contrast and securing with a strong hold hairspray.16 of 30Wispy Waves GETTY Did you know that a flat iron could give you those hints of imperfect bends in the hair? Pinch a section of your hair and gently push it up to create a "C" shape, then tap it with the flat iron. Alternate the direction of your "C" as you move down the section. This is a simple, foolproof way to lock in a subtle wave.17 of 30Braided Details GETTY Add a face-framing braid along the hairline before throwing your hair into a casual low ponytail or bun, and you have yourself an event-worthy updo.18 of 30Woven Head Scarf GETTY We know naturally curly texture doesn't always fall into the category of thin hair, but here's a great style tip that does apply: Styling your updo with a woven-in head scarf will add some density to your 'do, helping the overall style appear a little bit thicker.19 of 30Sleek and Simple GETTY Keep your updo sleek and simple with a clean parting and zero flyaways in sight. A little pomade around the edges and some hairspray all around, when laid down with a small toothbrush (for hair only, of course), will give you those smooth, flyaway-free updos.20 of 30Detailed Hairline GETTY Detailing your hairline with clips, barrettes, or even a micro braid is a simple effort that goes a long way and sophisticates any stylized updo, while still being fun and playful.21 of 30Sexy Silhouettes GETTY You don't always need a ton of hair to be pulled back to create a great updo with fine strands. This modernized beehive offers a sexy silhouette with the perfect amount of volume and gritty texture.22 of 30Romantic Curls GETTY Fine hair often doesn't have a lot of natural movement, but that doesn't make curls and waves impossible to achieve. By using a small barrel curling iron that's roughly 3/8"-3/4" in size, carefully wrap small sections of hair around the barrel from roots to ends. When you finish with a full head of ringlets, use your brush to separate and loosen the coils. This will give your hair full, fluffy movement all over. You can even back-brush the curls for more body, and twist it loosely into a thickened top knot for a romantic look like the one seen here.Back-brushing your curls will create more body and texture in the hair, creating a perfect foundation for any updo.23 of 30Statement Piece GETTY Statement pieces will always dress up an effortless updo, even on the thinnest of hair. A headband, a ribbon, a huge clip, a barrette, or a hairpin: All of these options are easy standouts that make your styling efforts minimal without compromising a finished look.24 of 30Position Your Ponytail GETTY Now, don't take this image literally—we realize braided locks are not a go-to style for fine haired strands. Instead, note the positioning of the ponytail. Creating a high ponytail with thin hair—and I'm talking high, as seen here, between the hairline and crown of the head—is a playful illusion that will only do you favors.25 of 30Hidden Bases GETTY When creating an updo on thinner hair, it can be helpful to create a base for your 'do. By bringing up the bottom half of your strands into a small, barely there bun, you then give the top half something to pin into. Use that top half section to make twists and knots: Get creative in hiding that bun below and you'll have a style that looks full of interest (and full of hair) in no time.26 of 30Front and Center GETTY Similar to pompadours and poufs, this sectioned style brings our attention front and center. Braiding or knotting a center section is an easy way to provide lift where fine hair is normally lacking.27 of 30Stacked Buns GETTY Stacking two buns together will make it appear like there's more hair to spare. Line each side with small accents like these velvet ribbons to help hide your parting.28 of 30'90s Sprouts @bellahadid This '90s style throwback of sleek roots and spiky ends is sure to add interest to your fine-haired updo. Use a water based pomade and flat brush to slick the hair back nice and tight, adding a pinch of pomade between your fingers to help give your ends that piece-y, spiky finish.29 of 30Tiny Tendrils GETTY When you have fine strands, they often come with a lack of texture and body. If you lust over this tiny tendril updo on hair idol Zazie Beetz, try this on for size: Place your hair in a high, tight ponytail. Then, use a very small curling iron—a 9 mm or 10 mm barrel size—and carefully wrap thin sections of your ponytail around the barrel. Once you have a full ponytail of tiny tendrils, use a wide tooth comb to rake out the curls and pin them artfully, bringing all that new movement forward.30 of 30Flipped Out GETTY Trying to add volume all the time can get tiring. Instead, opt to make your ends the showstopper of your updo by flipping them out of your pigtails, buns, or ponytails.15 Low-Maintenance Hairstyles to Wear Through Winter

Hi babes idk if you want to make headcanons but could you do headcanons for how Beatrix dresses?
Absolutely! please do ask me anything
Fashion headcanon - a Beatrix lookbook
While writing this headcanon, my brain couldn't stop thinking about @nutaella-kookie 's take on a lookbook for Beatrix. So I will list down all the points I agree on, then go into detail.
-Huge Grace Kelly inspo
-Shades of cool blue, light sand/beige, cream, touches of brown and white
-Shuu and his mother do have a similar colour palette because they both know what looks good on their fair warm-toned skin, with their golden locks and their piercing blue eyes.
Richard Jenkins photography
Jenkins is specialised in historical period so if you are looking for any accurate historical fashion depiction: here
And obviously, I had to take a look at his work after I'd found the Beatrix dress on Pinterest. (yes, the red one).
Through the centuries, she would dress like this in the human world: following diligently the fashion trends and requirements of the upper-class.
Mostly wears her hair in an elegant bun, thin strands of curly hair escaped from the hairdo and framing her face as she roams the castle, looking for her eldest.
She doesn't like it when she can't keep her hair under control - because her curls soften her features.
In the human world, she would not care that much about her appearance or about the variety of her wardrobe. She focuses on having lasting pieces that solely evoke her status.
She is rather modest: no eccentric lacy pieces at the end of her sleeves, no too-tight corset, no hats jabbed with peacock feathers, or shawls of the finest Chinese silk, embellished with threads of vermillon and gold and her shoes are simple heeled-boots, often black.
But she does like adding some feminine accents to her outfits with pearls essentially. But also lockets. Victorian golden pendants set with small rubies, sapphires or turquoise, glazed with faceted glass, smooth enamel. She owns a whole collection. All with different sprigs and flowers carved on the precious metal - each unique. Karlheinz gifted her one, a stylised chrysanthemum carved on the concave side of the locket. It was a few days after Shuu's birth.
Tumblr media
On her day-to-day life
A boss. (because I find the term 'girlboss' rather infantilising, in my humble opinion)
Beatrix is an efficient woman. The strict, rigid façade left aside, I do imagine she would favour practicality and versatility over anything.
Here, we are talking about how she would dress in modern days, both in the demon and human worlds:
Suits.
Silken shirts, white embroidered blouses, polo-necks made of the finest wool, long sleeves always, coordinated vests and high-waisted trousers made of viscose topped with a fine leather belt to accentuate her waist, golden, fine bracelets, no rings except her wedding ring.
The mature combo of old money and dark academia.
She would make an amazing Ralph Lauren model.
Tumblr media
Haute Couture gal
Ok Bea, time to shine.
3 words: Dior.New.Look
And now, 3 names: Christian Dior, Jacques Heim and Pierre Balmain
@samsvenn : being a Dior model is in Beatrix's DNA, that's why Reiji looks so damn good. (your headcanon was amazing)
She was born to wear these 1950s-1960s dresses. Full petticoats, boned bodice, slightly padded busts.
Only top quality fabrics: velvet, damask, taffeta, silk and lace obviously.
Straight or sweetheart necklines mostly, she doesn't like to draw too much attention to her cleavage while her shoulders and neck are already exposed by her hairstyle and dress.
Even if Cordelia is known for her alluring, flamboyant looks, Beatrix manages to shake the audience with her composed yet regal posture.
But there is this one time when she left everyone astounded.
Even Karlheinz.
We are talking about a long silk lavender dress, paired with small diamond earrings, a matching necklace and a oh-so delicate tiara. The light purple accentuated elegantly her eyes yet highlighted her golden locks. While the rich fabric was lightly reflective - making her shine like a distant star.
She'd wore this dress at a reception, soon after her honeymoon with the king. The court was marvelled, Cordelia gave her a dirty look but stayed calmly next to Richter while Karlheinz offered to open the ball.
She accepted, took his gloved hand and held it firmly as they started waltzing magnificently.
It was soon after her honeymoon.
And soon before she'd announced him that she was pregnant.

Let’s say England has a long-term girlfriend he knows isn’t the biggest fan of marriage bc her family had been really really pushy (before she got the heck out of dodge) about her marrying + reproducing ASAP. How might he react if she came to him and said she was kinda starting to like the general concept of marrying him — that is, the whole ‘together forever’ bit. Thanks!
I confess darling that I have been trying to finish this prompt for well over a year, and I offer my sincerest apologies that it’s taken me this long to finish it. Still, despite my tardiness, I hope you enjoy, and I thank you for your patience with me.
Tumblr media
You had never intended to fall in love, not with the constant push of your relatives to fall in line like a perfect child.
First, marriage to someone they deemed acceptable, raising the perfect 2.5 children, followed by quietly settling into parenthood and complaisant contentment until the day you last drew breath.
Truth of the matter was, you had avoided all chances of romance for the first few years after you moved away from home, carefully slipping away from anyone who seemed remotely interested in you.
You knew your folks would have disproved such behaviour had they learnt the truth, but you couldn’t find it in your heart to care. You had your own dreams to pursue, your own story to tell, your own life to live; you didn't need someone by your side to feel complete.
You were happy as you were, finding enjoyment in your work and figuring out your place in the world.
You didn’t need, or frankly want, anything more than that.
That was of course until you met him.
Falling in love with Arthur Kirkland had been a complete accident. He slipped past all of your defenses and took up residence in your heart as if he had always belonged there.
It started out slow enough; at first you simply knew him as a familiar face from the cafe in Waterstones, steaming cup of Darjeeling and a chocolate croissant sitting forgotten on the table in front of him, always too focused on his reading to pay any attention to the outside world. After one particularly crowded Sunday afternoon, he began to transition into your favorite dining companion, the two of you often taking turns paying for each other’s food. Slowly but surely, you began forgetting about your books, too wrapped up in conversation, and before you knew it-
You had come to love every part of him- the gentleman that you begrudgingly introduced to your parents, the rebellious and passionate activist, the cocky and playful little shit who had long ago memorised all the best ways to disarm you, and the ancient soul who cared so deeply, who still stretched himself thin most days in effort to protect each of his loved ones.
You fell in love with his voice, whispering sonnets and sonatas and sweet nothings in your ear while his arms cradled you from behind.
You fell in love with his eyes, still losing your footing sometimes when the light caught them just right, dreaming momentarily of summer forests and grassy glades and the misty dews of spring.
You fell in love with his smiles, from the satisfied grin at stirring up Peter’s ire to the breathless wonder each time you kissed or complimented him, to the bright, beautiful, blinding smile he wore when he was incandescently happy, his entire countenance iridescent from his joy.
You loved him completely- for his devotion, for his sweet gestures, for his damned impishness, for his wit, his sass, and the soft spoken affection.
You loved him: for his patience, for his recklessness, for his resilience, for his possessive pride that was somehow more charming than alarming.
He was unique, an enigma that, even after having lived together for years and dating even longer, kept you on your toes, his energy and random spouts of spontaneity proving to you that, even if you spent one hundred lifetimes with him, he would always remain a puzzle you would never fully solve.
And by God did you want to.
Arthur had stolen your heart away from you before you had even noticed he was close enough to take it, offering his own in its stead.
You had remained reluctant, confided in him your fears about settling down, how much you dreaded becoming trapped in a monotonous rut of tedium. He was quick to reassure you, showing through words and actions far more impassioned and teasing than he had ever shown prior, that an eternity with him could never be boring.
Even on quiet days, like today, with a steady drizzle painting the world in greys, Arthur humming quietly while adding another patch to his denim vest, and no other disturbance apart from the cat’s chittering at the robins playing in a puddle by the iron fence- Even now, you weren’t so much bored as you were pensive.
You had been thinking about a future with him a lot in the past few days, some irrelevant ad on your mobile about wedding venues catching your attention and slithering into the back of your mind.
What kind of wedding would he like? Would Arthur prefer something small and intimate, or would his hubris crave a larger venue, giving him yet another chance to prove to the world that he belonged at your side, no one else?  You couldn’t help but wonder if he would wear his uniform or a suit, if he would leave the rats' nest he called a hairstyle untouched, or if he would perhaps slick it back in that way that somehow made the normal rakishness disappear, a confident, refined cavalier standing in his place.
You knew of course that none of this mattered unless you actually talked to him first; as far as you were aware, he was content with the current arrangement, and he respected your views of marriage.
He had known, for a long time, just where the grim outlook stemmed from, and he never breached the subject again.
But now-
You had thought it was enough to hold his love, his faith, his vulnerabilities. But life was so fleeting, and now those few things were no longer enough.
You wanted to wake up every morning next to him, wanted the cheesy partners’ towel and flip flop sets. You wanted the physical reminder that you held his heart, the comforting reminder that he completely possessed your own. You wanted to be by his side forever, holding his hand through the good and the ill, facing new worlds and challenges and the uncertain future together.
You knew the risks, of course.
Marriage to a Nation carried an even heavier burden than the simple oath of “till death do us part.”
No, marrying Arthur would mean weaving your entire lives together, binding you on a spiritual level far surpassing mortality; it would mean sacrificing your chance to ever grow old, to eternally give yourself away: heart, mind, body, and soul.
But this was Arthur, who sang showtunes in the shower, who spent hours making silly faces at the cat, who was ridiculously competitive about Halloween costumes, the man who sat down and memorised the entirety of The Tempest in one night just for the bragging rights.
He already owned your heart, constantly invaded your thoughts and daydreams, and God knew he had long, long ago claimed your body, making certain not a single millimeter of his new territory went unexplored.
Would it really be so bad to give him your soul, too?
Glancing back up, seeing his eyes narrowed in concentration, his fingers handling the needle with expert precision, lips slightly parted, reading glasses fallen halfway down his nose-
You knew your answer.
It was always going to be Arthur for you, only Arthur.
Forever, should he have you.
But now you faced the challenge of telling him that.
It should be simple enough; you really held no more secrets from him, and he no longer bothered trying to hide anything from you. You loved how open you were with one another, cherished the honesty that served as the very foundation to your relationship.
But the truth was that you were terrified.
It had been so long since either of you had spoken of marriage, since the topic was even a thought in your minds, and-
What if he didn't want you anymore?
What if he-
"I can see the steam coming outta your ears."
The unexpected presence of Arthur's voice startled you, eyes darting back over to the very man who was unwittingly tormenting you.
He had barely moved from his earlier position, though his glasses had been pushed up into his hair and he was studying you curiously, if not bemusedly.
"You good there?"
By default, you nearly responded with an affirmative, some playful, lighthearted thing that would have dismissed his concern immediately. You cut yourself off mid-start, then, while shifting to sit properly in the armchair, you decided to push forward. "Can we talk?"
You watched as his expression shifted, revealing his concern as he tied off his thread, setting aside the patchwork and gestured for you to join him on the sofa.
There were a few awkward moments where you took up your favourite positions, Arthur tossing an afghan across the pair of you despite your insistence that you didn't need one, the flicker of a grin as you begrudgingly thanked him, and then shifting around as you both got comfortable, but soon enough-
"Alright, now; talketh at-eth me."
It was impossible to fight the smile his choice of words triggered, a reference to an inside joke so old now that you could scarcely recall its origin. Seeming to deem it a success, his own soft, reassuring smile greeted you.
"Seriously though, luv-" His hand came to rest atop your own, his fingers gently tapping a familiar rhythm against your skin. "What's troubling you?"
You were half-tempted to offer something short of sincerity, something innocuous and mundane that you could both laugh over and forget again within a few hours. Yet, you knew that if you didn't tell him now, didn't ask him now, you would never find the courage again.
"I've been thinking-"
"Ah. A scary premise in its own right."
"Oh, shut up," you retorted to his tease, smacking his arm for his troubles. He rewarded you with a grin, all fondness and mischief. Opting to ignore him, you pressed on, eyes downcast to avoid whatever judgement he may offer.
"As I was trying to say earlier, before I was so rudely interrupted-" The teasing fell off, and the worry crept back in. "I've been thinking. About us."
"O-oh?"
Were you not so consumed by your own anxieties, you would have noticed his stutter, would have seen the sudden tension in his posture, the fear in his eyes. As it was, you were completely oblivious to all of it, and made yourself continue at his prompting.
"I- I think I'm ready."
He mimed the word "ready" to himself, parroting it with utter befuddlement. "For wha-"
"I mean, I know I wasn't for such a long time, and-" Suddenly, you were off, half unhinged. Now that you had admitted the truth aloud, it was all rushing out of you, everything you had come to love about him, everything that-
A finger pressing firmly against your lips stopped you mid-tangent, and when you glanced up to find piercing, blazing emerald focused on you as if you were the very center of the universe, whatever remained of your ramblings disappeared entirely.
"What are you trying to say?"
A simple question, so easy to answer, yet it carried with it the weight of Infinities, demanding nothing save the truth, in its most basic state.
You were lost in his gravity, half-drowning in whatever this new feeling was. It was addicting, another riddle to be solved.
"Marry me."
Time stood still, the words weighing heavily in the space between you, now seemingly insurmountable despite being no more than mere decimeters.
Arthur showed no reaction, revealed no indication that he had even heard your plea, your query, your command, your request, and yet it echoed over and over in your own mind, the tone, the weight, the untimeliness-
Every facet- from your inflection to chosen tempo- crescandoed as an accusation, a mocking symphony that he would reject you, that you would be left with only the haunting strains of your ill-conceived proposal.
And yet-
There was a hesitation in his eyes, the face of a man who wanted wholeheartedly to believe what he had heard, but had been burned far too often in the past to dare allow himself hope.
"You-" His eyebrows furrowed, eyes narrowed as he studied you once more, only for the suspicion to disappear again almost immediately, disbelief swiftly taking its place. "You're serious?"
It was then that you finally read his nervousness, understood the strange emotion reflecting in his eyes.
You had lead him to a precipice, the vast Unknown before you both, and-
And he was just as fragile as you were, even if he was better at hiding it.
You gave his hand a light squeeze, hoping to ground you both, and offered him a nod. “If you’ll have me, anyway.”
His eyes flickered between your own, darting back-and-forth so quickly in search of a lie, of any doubts, of any hint that you were less than certain- yet you knew he would find none of that.
“What about your family?”
The question took you by surprise; in the moment, you had completely forgotten anyone else even existed.
You weighed his question carefully. Marrying Arthur would give your family leave to gloat in self-satisfaction, and you knew with absolutely certainty that they would hold it over your head for the next three decades. But looking into the eyes of the man before you, remembering all that you had already seen and done together, you found that others' opinions no longer mattered, really hadn't mattered in a long, long time.
“I couldn’t care less about them. Arth-”
Whatever you were going to say was forgotten as he closed the remaining distance between you, moving so swiftly that you scarcely had a moment to steady yourself before he captured you in a searing kiss, one of his most passionate by far.
Somehow, despite the suddenness of it all, the initial force, the intensity-
He was being incredibly gentle, and moving slowly enough to almost be more a torment than a treat. Almost.
You found yourself lost in a daze when he finally pulled away, just enough for each of you to catch your breaths, just far enough that he could study you with rapt attention. You could have drowned in his eyes, endless greens magnetizing in their intensity. His hands were still cradling your cheeks, still holding you firmly in place, a not completely foreign expression creasing his features.
You couldn't quite place it, even as your memories shifted desperately in search of its mate.
"'If I'd have you?'" His words, a rhetorical refrain of your own mere moments earlier, were scarcely a shared breath between you, murmured in timbre so low it summoned a shiver. There was the smallest twitch of his lip, his head tilting ever so slightly as more of that damned deviousness made its presence known. "I fully intend to have you regardless, luv. But the formality of it all certainly adds a particular je ne sais quoi, wouldn't you agree?"
You'd be damned if he knew just how that made your heart flutter, if he knew just how much weight that reassurance had lifted from your shoulders.
Carefree, content, you offered a playful smile. "Till death do us part then?"
Arthur no longer bothered trying to restrain his smile, soft and sincere in a way that left you breathless. "I'll love you till even the stars go cold, my dear."

Golden Dress
inspired by @startanewdream fanfic - here -, which after reading me made me think about writing about Hinny in the future, and Ginny wearing a gold dress again.
for those who want to see what the dress looks like: here but golden ofc
in fact, this fanfic is for those who think that just because Ginny is a badass, she cannot like the "feminine" world, don't be so radical, people are complex and one thing does not cancel out the other
'Stupid dress,' Ginny mumbled, snorting irritably and giving up zipping the back of her dress, looking in the mirror at her husband who was lying on the bed, arms behind his head and feet crossed. 'Babe?' She said, sly, winking at him in the reflection, a lovely smile on her dark red lips.
'If it weren't for me, you would go to every party with your butt off,' Harry said, getting up from the bed and walking over to her, dressed in her beautiful gold satin dress, long and light, making her look magnificent. The thin straps looked too delicate and he thought that maybe the fabric could tear in one simple step, and that neckline that the fabric created in the front with the accumulation of fabric, would fall and show her beautiful breasts.
The zipper went down to the top of her white panties, her bare back seemed to call Harry again, and if he closed his eyes he could still feel the softness of the skin against his lips as he went down and down, memorizing, or trying, every freckle which disappeared tantalizingly down to her round ass.
'You look beautiful wearing gold,' Harry whispered against her skin, smelling Ginny's sweet and unique scent, the same that had always been in his Amortentia. He let his hands roam over her skin, inside her dress, calmly reaching for Ginny's hips and squeezing. His eyes never leaving hers in the mirror, she looked even more radiant, her cheeks flushed and made up, shining through that shiny powder she wore, her brown eyes made up and looking even more mesmerizing.
'And you are tempting in that suit, I promise you that we will enjoy it much later, but now,’ She pushed her ass against his groin, pushing him away. 'Close my dress or we'll be late, and George may not appear to be nervous, but I think he might be able to die if we're a minute late.' Ginny smiled. 'You are much more daring than when I asked you to close my dress years ago.'
'I learned from the best.' He shrugged, surrendering and closing the dress, noticing the lack of a bra, and needing to close his eyes for a few more seconds just to not rip off that dress and have sex with Ginny until the dawn day. 'Did you choose the gold dress just because of that? To remember the first wedding when you made me hard as an idiot, asking me to close your dress?’
'No, George and Angelina chose the color. My brothers are strangely obsessed with gold.' Ginny sat down again in the cushioned chair in front of her dressing table, opening the jewelry drawer and seeming to be looking for something. 'Do you think these earrings match?' She held up a delicate pearl that she had bought on their trip to Spain, turning her face gently and assessing the earring. Harry nodded, leaning against the side, feeling a little obsessed with her.
'You look beautiful with anything,' Harry sighed, as if he was tired of explaining the obvious to her. 'I remembered that night almost every night afterwards.'
'What night?' Ginny looked at him quickly, a clip pinned between her lips, adjusting the lock of hair that had gone out of place for her perfect hairstyle.
'Bill's wedding. I remembered you wearing that dress, the cleavage, everything, for many nights,' he admitted shamelessly, picking up her hair comb before she even asked. It was not the first time that Harry had watched Ginny get dressed, he didn't even care when they were late, almost every event that required a more elegant outfit, Harry was not excited to go. But standing there, seeing how she was concentrating while choosing the color of the shadows, or how she made her cheeks look adorably pink and shiny, made him want to go.
He had never said it out loud, and Harry was afraid he would look a little sexist, or Caveman, but he loved being the guy who was next to her when she was like this. Harry loved being the guy who was always next to her, when Ginny was wearing his clothes as pajamas, when she wore Harpies uniform, dressed in pants and sweaters, or expensive and elegant dresses.
Harry thought it was the most beautiful thing when Ginny sat on the chair at her dressing table to get ready. He thought it was almost as if she made a child’s dream come true, to have things that only belonged to her, to be able to choose what type of earring, necklace or ring she would wear that day, whether or not it matched the diamond on their wedding ring, if the lipstick didn't look out of place with the clothes. He had noticed how little by little Ginny had seemed to break the walls that seemed to prevent her from being that happy and excited girl because she had bought a dress or some beauty product.
He still remembered when they moved into their house, and Ginny's eyes sparkled with tears when she saw the dressing table there, as she had asked, with lights, a big mirror, a comfortable chair, drawers for everything she wanted buy or already had, and a good space to be able to decorate as she wish on the top.
Harry blamed the fact that Ginny was forced to mature quickly and create armor strong enough to survive after Tom, who prevented her from letting that more feminine side emerge.
After they got married and went to live on the same street as there was a cosmetics store, however, Harry noticed how Ginny looked into the store, her eyes big and shining. It was like a childish need, and Harry remembered how happy and complete he felt when he went to the market and bought everything he wanted to eat.
He understood how Ginny felt. It was as if it were going to fill the material void that was once created.
Harry never made jokes or even laughed at them when he saw them in the newspaper, saying that ‘’now that she was married, Ginny had decided to drop her tomboy pose and become a stylish housewife to satisfy Harry.’’ He thought it was disgusting.
‘You’re not going to stop being you, if you wear makeup, or wear expensive clothes, you know that, don’t you?’ He said, after seeing that she looked sad, sitting on the couch and looking at a fashion magazine. 'You look beautiful wearing green.' Harry smiled, looking at the green wool suit.
'But maybe the earrings you gave me will be better.' Ginny woke him from his reverie, her hair neat and the pearl earrings put in place again. 'What do you think?' She looked at him and then the mirror, they were delicate and small rings of braided gold. ‘Too golden?’
'I thought it was perfect.' Harry smiled like a fool in love.
'Excellent. Wake up James, okay? I'll be ready in a minute.’
'If we had been looking for peace, he would have woken up a long time ago.' He grunted, listening to Ginny laughing.
'Wait until night, he'll smell that his parents want to spend some time alone, and he'll crawl into our bed.' Ginny laughed, watching her husband laugh too, giving up and going to wake up their son who seemed to have the same timer as Ron, to know when a couple was kissing.
'And yet I can't love him any less.' Harry sighed, kissing the top of Ginny's head before walking away to leave the room.
'I feel like today is going to be different,' Ginny promised, holding Harry's hand and making him look at her. ‘And maybe we can do everything you wanted to do when you saw me in the gold dress for the first time?’
'I didn't know as much as I do today,' Harry pointed out, smiling at her. 'But it would be great. And at this wedding, I don’t even need to be in a Weasley’s body, which also helps a lot.’
She nodded. 'Thanks to Merlin, there are already many Weasley in the world.'
Harry laughed, leaving the room and walking over to James, who was still sleeping the same way he was when Harry put him to bed, hugging the bear Percy had given him, covered by his favorite blanket, looking like he didn't even care that there was a wedding about to happen, and wearing that mini suit that was the most adorable thing.
Smiling and watching his son sleep, Harry was happy, now he and Ginny knew how good it was when things were so simple.

Knight of the Forest - Chapter IX
Tumblr media
From where she stood perched on the seamstress’s little crate box, Lillia felt like she was on a pedestal and it frightened her. In a few days she would be standing before the whole court swearing her love and Fidelity to the man of her dreams and she was positive that she would mess up, skip a word or worse, drop something! Wouldn't it be terrible if she tripped over her gown as ser Jaime escorted her to the altar?
Lillia cringed at the thought. At least the wedding ceremony would only be an hour long at the most. She would be married to Loras for the rest of her life! How would she be able to even share a meal with him without saying something stupid? She wished she had had longer to get her nerves under control but when Maya and Oberyn announced that they would be having a long engagement, Lillia and Loras's marriage had been moved from three weeks to three days in the future!
“ you look absolutely stunning my lady,” the seamstress assured her, “ the wedding gown will be ready by tomorrow afternoon! Now for the other dresses.”
Lillia hopped down from the box once the woman finished measuring her and approached the table where the seamstress and her team had drawn up some sketches of different outfits. As was custom, a newlywed bride would be outfitted new gowns for her wedded life but Lillia had somehow managed to swindle Ser Jaime into talking to a few people and instead of thirty separate new outfits, Lillia had managed to only order six. Two everyday dresses, a nightgown, two party dresses and a dress for cold climate.
The girl studied the drawings and she suddenly came to realize why Margaery loved dressing people up against their will. Every one of the dresses were unique in color, design and cut. Lillia knew that Mace Tyrell would be expecting them to be happy in their marriage together even if the love within was one sided and he would expect grandchildren and Lillia knew she would not get pregnant unless she could entice Loras into her bed and what better way to do that than wearing a low cut dress? Or nightgown... But what was the point of an enticing nightgown if Loras was not enticed to join her in her room? So both the nightgown and one of the dresses?
It had better be one of the daily dresses or she would be seen as a regular whore by everyone if she wore a low cut dress to a party. Why was picking outfits out so difficult and trying on the brain!? Finally she snatched up a lovely but simple green dress drawing.
“I like this one.” she told the seamstress.
The woman beamed and went to agree when a third voice cut in and made both Lillia and the seamstress turn. There stood Loras with his arms lazily crossed over his chest and a smirk on his lips as he leant against the door frame.
“I rather like the dress you are wearing at the moment.” he said.
Lillia looked down at her attire and blushed Crimson when she realized what she was wearing. The dress was cut so low and fitted so tightly that her breasts were half visible and pushed up so that they were pronounced. The dress ended at her knees revealing her bare legs and feet and the fabric was so thin that you could see the color of her skin!
“ these are my undergarments!” she squeaked at him, crossing her arms over her chest as the seamstress assisted her in pulling on a very thick cotton robe.
Loras his eyes widen in shock before he smirked, doing a ridiculously good job at not appearing flustered or turned on by the rather revealing outfit that his bride to be was garbed in. He walked over to the two women until he was towering over the very flustered Lillia.
“ well, it is nice to know that my future wife has very tempting taste in nightgowns. Madame, be a dear and select the rest of my lady’s outfits based on what you feel she would like. My lady, would you care to join me on a walk?”
Lillia paused and considered her fiance suspiciously for a moment before she grabbed the dress that she had worn earlier that day and dove behind the curtain to change. She emerged a moment later and followed the beaming Loras out of the room period it was a short calm a quiet walk down the corridor to the battlements and Lillia wondered if Loras had just asked her on a walk for the sake of being nice and not because he actually wished to speak with her.
“ I hope you don't mind that once we are married we may have to live in Kings Landing for some time period I am only a knight and third in line for Highgarden. My father assures me that he has a plan but until I discover if his plan actually exists, we will have to live here.”
Lillia nodded, “that sounds reasonable. I have lived here for a few years and so far I have remained sane alive. After all, Evelyn and Ser Jaime lived here together when they were married for a few months and they also managed to share a room without complaint so I feel that we will be able to manage just fine.”
Loras stopped walking and turned to the girl, “do... do you see us ever being like that? I mean... the perfect couple who love each other's company and share bedroom... do you see us like that?”
Lillia tilted her head as she pondered the question before shrugging, “ I like to imagine us like that but I am not sure if it would be the way that we would live. After all, Willas and Garlan complain daily of your snoring habits in their letters and I do happen to have powers of the earth. I may attack you with your breakfast peas in the morning at the table.”
Loras chuckled and smirked, “you know you love me. You would not want your husband dented now would you?”
Lillia's face went grave. A fine time to use a figure of speech that was more real and true than Loras realized. She tossed her hair over her shoulder and began to walk off.
“ do not underestimate my morning grumpy moods.”
Loras trotted over and caught up to the girl before grabbing her arm and turning her to look at him. “Lillia... you are important to me... you always have been and I would like to think that you care something for me too... I truly wish for this marriage to work out not just because it will make our parents happy because I want you to be happy married to me since I know that I will be happy with you as my wife.”
Lillia smiled softly but felt her heart stop period of course he cared about her even if that was the extent of his affections. He would be happy to wed any girl who would feed him, clothe him and bear him children. It just so happened that she was the girl he would be married to and expect those things from. She reached out and left her arm through his.
“ then let us make the most of this marriage and try to make each other happy.” she suggested.
Loras beamed and cradled her hand with his free one period “deal. On the condition that there will be no modeling of vegetables or by vegetables.”
Lillia giggled and found herself beaming, happier than she had been in a very long time... Even if Loras still did not love her back.
******
“My lady,” the maid Maria called, attempting to rouse the heavy sleeper.
Lillia rolled over from where she had been laying out spread like a pancake on her bed. Her hair was sticking out in all places making it look like a beaver had made its home on her scalp. Maria smiled at the girl’s disheveled state before she began opening the drapes and pulling out the things required to prepare the girl for her day.
“You are getting married today my lady!” the girl said, a huge smile lighting up her face as Lillia swung her legs over the edge of the bed and sat up groggily. “Alice is bringing your wedding dress up in a moment and once you are dressed, we will get your hair styled. What are you considering? Up or down?”
Lillia shrugged as she grabbed her thin lace robe and wrapped it around herself as she yawned, “I am not sure… Marg…Queen Margaery gave me a very detailed explanation of how having your hair up or down can clash with a dress… I am not sure what hairstyle would best suit the gown.”
Maria smiled, “Well then why don’t we get you washed up and we can take the dress to Queen Margaery’s room. That way you can get her opinion and since her chambers are closer to the great hall, you will not have to walk as far in the gown.”
“That sounds perfect,” Lillia stated, beaming at Maria.
About an hour later the girl was wrapped in a thick robe as Maria escorted her down the corridor to Margaery’s room. Tommen had left earlier to discuss the ceremony with Tywin and Cersei and hopefully telling them to not cause a scene. The moment Lillia stepped through the door of the bedroom, Margaery practically threw her into a chair and got Maria and Alice started on doing her hair while Margaery and her handmaiden Rose set about laying out the gown.
“I’m sorry that Maya and Nanteza couldn’t be here for this,” Margaery told the girl when the room became uncommonly silent.
Lillia smiled sadly at her in the mirror as Alice continued to pin up her wild curls. “It’s alright… they had things to do that couldn’t wait.”
After all of her curls were pinned up and out of her face, decorated by beautiful pink peach blossoms from outside Margaery’s bedroom window, the three-woman worked together to slip the gown on from Lillia’s feet up. That is until they realized just how soiled Lillia’s feet were, and they had to take a pitstop to give them a thorough and rather painful scrubbing. After finally getting the dress on and laced up as well as finally finishing buttoning the 200 pearl buttons on the back of the dress, Margaery went digging through her collection of shoes until she found a pair of white sandals. She knew that Lillia hated closed toe shoes as well as heels which ruled out the majority of Margaery’s shoes.
“We should have remembered to tell the seamstress to prepare you shoes as well!” Margaery huffed. “I just forgot because… well…”
“I never wear shoes,” Lillia finished for her.
Margaery chuckled but when she reached into one of her small boxes containing the millions of jewelry pieces she had accumulated, she frowned.
“I can’t find that pin,” she muttered, “You know… the pin you use to help hold two pieces together. It has a needle and then a little cap.”
While Maria and Alice began scouring the whole room for the pin and Rose was trying to keep Margaery from freaking out and bursting into tears, Lillia felt that this was the perfect time to escape the flutter and feathers. After all, she had forgotten her necklace that Jaime had procured for her and she dearly wished to wear it since it would go well with her neckless dress. She trotted down the hallway, the embroidered beads on her long but slender dress tinkling against each other in the absolutely silent corridor. Everyone must be downstairs preparing for the celebration which made the girl both relieved and also terrified.
Lillia paused when she reached her door, hand hovering over the doorhandle. Perhaps if she dropped in and said hello to Loras? She weighed the options. When Lillia had told her mother that it was Northern custom that the groom would not see the bride until she was escorted to the alter since it was bad luck to see the groom or bride on the wedding day, Lysa Arryn had whipped the girl over the knuckles for reading such “trash” and had told her there was no such thing as luck. Lillia pondered whether or not she should hold fast to the custom but decided that since she was definitely in the South, no one would care.
Padding down the hallway in her bare feet, careful as to not trip over the long dress that hugged her curves elegantly, Lillia rapped her knuckles against the door softly. She received no answer so she wondered if Loras was still asleep or perhaps he had already left. Lifting the handle, she poked her head inside.
“Loras?” she called softly.
Lillia heard loud and urgent rustling to her left and she peered around the door, only for her eyes to widen and her hand slip from the handle, allowing the door to swing all the way open. There lying in his bed was Loras, stark naked and at his side… Olyver.
Loras’s eyes were just as wide, if not wider than Lillia’s as he looked upon his bride to be, garbed in creamy white with her curls pulled back neatly to reveal her smooth skin which had suddenly lost all of its usual rosy color. When Loras heard people say that their face “fell”, he had no idea what that necessarily meant until he saw the look on Lillia’s face. It was like her body lost all point of life, her limbs hanging limp, the smile gone from her face but there was no frown there… but disbelief and her eyes no longer were crinkled in joy or pinched in anger… but lax in misery.
“Oh god, Lill…” the man started as he reached for his trousers.
Lillia swung on her heel and surprisingly for a girl in a floor length gown, she was running incredibly fast. When Loras finally managed to get his feet into his trousers and he rushed to the door, there was not a single sign of the girl anywhere. Instead of chasing after her like he knew he should, he went searching for the rest of his clothes and began to snap orders at Olyver to make the bed and make himself scarce.
Meanwhile Lillia tore down the hallway until she reached Margaery’s room and she flew through the door, closing it harshly behind her and leaning against it as her only life support. The three handmaidens and Margaery lifted their heads at the noise but the smiles on their faces melted when they saw the tears streaming down Lillia’s face.
“Oh Lils!” Margaery cried, rushing to the girl’s side and pulling her into a secure hug. “What on earth happened?”
Lillia shook her head and Margaery motioned to the maids to make their exit. Once they were alone, Margaery pulled away and looked Lillia in the eye.
“You need to tell me what happened! Who made you cry?” she insisted.
Lillia sighed shakily as she wiped her face with her bare hands. “If in the next couple of years, your father asks why Loras and I have not had children yet, you have my full permission to tell him that Loras will be banned from my bed chambers until I am 50!”
As Lillia pulled away from Margaery and went hunting in the wash room for some cool water to splash on her face, Margaery groaned. Of all days to mess up Loras, why today? The Tyrell girl stepped out of the bedroom and was just in time to see her beast of a brother running towards her.
“Where is she?” the boy demanded but Margaery crossed her arms over her chest and glared daggers at the lad.
“You’re lucky she didn’t rail you into the ground! You are not allowed to see her until the ceremony and I would not be surprised if she called off the wedding today!”
