A Hard Rain
The main problem with TV Rain is that neither its staffers nor its defenders really understand what the problem with it is. It is especially funny when people who have been stumping for years for “situational cooperation with the regime in the Kremlin for good ends” are outraged by the revocation of TV Rain’s license. Sooner or later, they’ll get round to you, too. “Moderate law-abiding…

Russia’s Justice Ministry has added the the e-book company Bookmate to its list of “foreign agent” media outlets.
Other new additions to the list include Andrey Bayev (director of Bookmate in Russia) and Aleskey Dokuchayev (marketing director of Bookmate and general director of publishing houses Individuum and Popcorn books).
Additions to the list of individual “foreign agents” also include Natalia Sindeeva, the founder of the television channel Rain; Vladimir Romensky, a host on the channel; and Yekaterina Kotrikadze, also a host and director of information services at TV Rain.
Also named individual “foreign agents” were lawyer Mikhail Benyasha, political analyst Taras Berezovets, and journalist and videoblogger Ivan Yakovina.
In August 2022, Vedomosti reported that Bookmate Limited, the Irish company which offers Bookmate e-book services, was leaving the Russian market. A source in the company said that the service would remain open in Russia and that Yandex, which bought the rights to Bookmate’s platform for CIS countries, would develop it.

Sindel/Sheeva for thems otp asksk?
oh anon. i love you. i’m gonna try not to mess this up royally considering that i have not really looked too much in-depth into this ship, but i will give an all-star effort!
1) who can outdrink the other? Sindel. neither of them drinks very often, but when they do, Sindel can handle her alcohol a little better
2) who says “I love you” more? Sheeva. she says it every chance she gets. they’re just hanging out? “I love you.” Sindel is about to leave on a dangerous mission/trip? “I love you, be careful.” Sindel does something that leaves her smitten? “I adore you, my queen.” Sheeva is just... in love. and vocal about how she feels
3) who has trouble sleeping alone? Sindel. she can, but it’s just significantly harder when someone isn’t there to keep the bed warm. she loves when Sheeva is there because then they can cuddle
4) who swears more? Sheeva, but not by much. neither of them are too fond of cussing but Sheeva will say a cuss word of the time arrives
5) who does more of the housework? they both share the responsibilities, but they also have maids that take care of it so they don’t get as much done as they wish they could
6) who forgets their anniversary? these two have the most amazing memories, so. neither of them. they plan it so far ahead because they don’t want their busy plans to interfere with a day dedicated to one another
7) who steals the duvet in their sleep? Sindel. she loves to be warm and comfy in her bed, and Sheeva is totally content with that
8) who keeps the other awake at night with their snoring? Sindel snores. it’s not super loud, but considering that there’s no other noise in the room, it is definitely noticeable. Sheeva has gotten used to it!!
9) who finds stray animals and begs the other to let them keep them? Sindel. it’s hardly begging, but she’s blunt. “i want this cat, my love” “as do i, but our schedules do not allow a pet” but Sheeva ends up getting her a cat bc Sindel’s happy reaction was 100% worth it
10) who usually makes dinner? Sindel has Skills when it comes to cooking. she can cook a four-course meal in less than an hour and gives a concert while doing it.
11) who plays their music out loud? neither of them really? i don’t think they ever really listen to music unless it’s out loud anyway (like in a concert setting or something)
12) who hogs the bathroom? Sindel. she has so much hair to brush. she doesn’t hog it on purpose, but it’s a tedious task that takes a while
13) who gives the most compliments? Sheeva. she is very vocal and will tell how she feels without hesitation, and that leads to a lot of compliments for Sindel. she loves it
14) i am not answering this one and can’t rephrase it in a way that i like jsgnjdkg
15) who isn’t afraid to embarrass the other in public? neither of them embarrass really. they both have high status and get a lot of attention, but they’re used to it and don’t really care
16) who gives the other cringeworthy pet names? Sindel. she is a big sap and loves giving cheesy nicknames to make Sheeva laugh
17) who fusses over takes care of the other when they get sick? Sindel’s caring instincts kick in whenever Sheeva is even a little bit sick. she will sit right by her and do whatever Sheeva asks to help her feel better
18) who finds it impossible to stay angry at the other for long? if either of them gets mad, it’s very rare that it lasts for longer than a few minutes. they hate being mad at the other and will do their best to make amends
19) who clings to the other for comfort when they’re sad or scared? Sindel has seen some crazy stuff. she likely feels just. so incredibly guilty about the circumstances of her life and would give anything to alleviate the trauma and stresses of those around her. sometimes she’ll ponder this too heavily and Sheeva will notice and just hold her a while, assuring her that she has done what she can to make those around her happy and things are sometimes just out of her control
20) who is more ‘physically passionate’? (hugs, kisses, or maybe more…) Sindel. she loves holding hands and touching Sheeva’s arms or back or shoulders and kissing her when they’re together and just. doing anything to be close to her in any way is good for her. she is so fond of Sheeva yall

Nicola Sturgeon to receive major European award
Greenock, Scotland news and updates.
This post was provided by Newsnet.scot.
By Russell Bruce
The international media conference M100 Sanssouci Colloquium honours Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon for her opposition to Brexit and commitment to European Union cohesion with the M100 Media Award.
The keynote political speech will be delivered by former Christian Democrat finance minister, Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble.
Armin Laschet, Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia said: “Nicola Sturgeon is a crucial voice of reason at a time in which political discourse is sadly too often shaped by a lack of objectivity and short-term thinking. As a staunch European, Nicola Sturgeon conveys strong messages of cohesion and political rationality from Scotland to both Europe and the entire world. She stands for the regions’ strength and the growing importance of regional cooperation in Europe. With the M100 Media Award, her commitment to a unified Europe is rightfully honoured.”
Editor-in-chief of Tagesspiegel and M100 board member, Mathias Müller von Blumencron described Nicola Sturgeon as a “voice of reason in a completely overheated and self-destructive debate”
The M100 Sanssouci Media Award will be conferred within the context of a gala evening. This symbolic prize should be seen as “Prize of the European Press”. The M100 advisory board accompanying the whole project also acts as jury and nominates the recipient of the prize. It honours personalities who, through his or her work has left their mark on Europe and in the world. The award reflects their service to the safeguarding of freedom of expression and the deepening of democracy as well as their outstanding achievements in promoting European understanding and communication.
Previous recipients of the M100 Media Award include Lord Norman Foster, Dr Bernard Kouchner, Bob Geldof, Ingrid Betancourt, Hans-Dietrich Genscher, Kurt Westergaard, Charlie Hebdo, Roberto Saviano, Natalia Sindeeva, and Deniz Yücel.

Alexey Chepa: Google and Facebook must be punished for interfering in the Russian elections
Western media corporations conducted a large-scale campaign to intervene in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation during the election campaign in the Moscow City Duma. The consequences of such interference in the form of illegal rallies require a legislative reaction to the issue of upholding the sovereignty of the state.
Until the summer of this year, foreign media giants sinned by interfering in the affairs of the Russian Federation, however, they tried to do this modestly and unnoticed. But during the election campaign, Western media decided to act decisively. As a result, past rallies became the clearest example of misinformation of the population.
Leaders of the so-called “opposition” actively collaborated with pro-Western media such as the German publication Deutsche Welle, BBC and Euronews, sponsored by the US Department of State, Radio Liberty and the Rain affiliate with Washington. “Oppositionists” literally posed in order to show the West a vivid picture of the “bloody regime.”
The Western media, in turn, did not skimp on catchy headlines about “police atrocities,” “peaceful demonstrations,” forgetting that provocateurs rioted, smashed cars, threw smoke bombs, and in every way endangered the lives of Muscovites. In addition, criminals and law breakers encroaching on the safety of fellow citizens were actively supported by Google, Facebook and Twitter. Resources were actively used for propaganda by blogger Alexei Navalny, American diplomat Michael McFaul and fugitive oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
The deputy chairman of the committee on international affairs, State Duma deputy from the party “Fair Russia” Alexei Chepa believes that Russia must protect itself from any attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the country. Companies, media, Internet giants that destroy and undermine the welfare of the country should be held accountable, including criminal.
Chepa noted that in many countries the legislation refers to such violations of sovereignty much more severely than in Russia. Therefore, it is important to take measures to protect the country from external interference.
“Yes, an appropriate article is required. Safety must be guaranteed either by current or newly adopted law. We must reinforce concrete protection of our sovereignty and our rights, ”the parliamentarian said in a comment to PolitExpert.
The deputy added that at the moment it is necessary to carefully study and find gaps in the legislation, to ensure the correct operation of existing standards, and then introduce new ones.
Earlier, a commission was created in the State Duma that studies the facts of interference by foreign states in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation. The commission demanded explanations from corporations that were engaged in propaganda, but in response received only unsubscribes. Then the Investigative Committee intervened in the matter, he called for interrogation of the CEO of Dozhd, Natalya Sindeeva, on the June 27 riots case.
With the election approaching, the situation became even more tense. On the day of silence before the election, Facebook and Google distributed political ads in support of certain candidates on the Web, which is a direct interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation and a violation of the electoral process. At Google, this was explained by the fact that they allegedly distributed only “responsible political advertising”, but, unfortunately, they did not explain what is meant by this term in the corporation. Facebook completely shifted responsibility to advertising customers.
The Commission continues to work to identify interference in the affairs of the Russian Federation, however, the results of the audit will be published only after a detailed investigation. Nevertheless, what is happening demonstrates the obvious need to tighten laws to prevent the spread of fakes.

MOSCOW: Russian investigators said Thursday they had detained five people as part of a criminal probe into mass unrest, in an apparent attempt to crush a wave of peaceful protests demanding fair elections.
The investigation into mass unrest, a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison, and violence against police, came after thousands of people protested in Moscow last week against the exclusion of opposition candidates from local elections.
Authorities launched the clampdown as opposition politicians are fighting to get on the ballot for a Moscow parliament election in September amid anger over worsening living standards which has dented President Vladimir Putin’s approval ratings.
The investigators said Thursday more than 10 people had been identified who helped organise and participated in an unauthorised rally in central Moscow on Saturday.
Five participants have been detained including Alexei Minyaylo, a well-known activist and aide to Lyubov Sobol, an independent politician who has fought to get on the ballot.
‘We will win’
Minyaylo’s apartment was searched in the middle of the night, he said in a Facebook post.
“Let them come, I am not afraid,” he said ahead of his detention, urging Muscovites to continue protesting. “We will win.”
Sobol, 31, said she considered Minyaylo’s arrest pressure against her. “I will not give up and will continue to stand for our rights,” she said on Twitter.
Sobol, who is a close ally of jailed opposition politician Alexei Navalny, has been refusing food for 19 days to protest her exclusion from the September election.
Minyaylo has been on hunger strike in solidarity with her.
Also on Thursday, the general director of liberal channel TV Rain, Natalia Sindeeva, said tax authorities had launched a probe into the media outlet.
TV Rain removed its paywall to give Russians access to live coverage of the July 27 protest and other news.
Almost 1,400 people were arrested on Saturday.
Nearly all prominent opposition leaders and many independent would-be candidates were detained ahead of the rally and jailed for up to 30 days, but many of the others have since been released.
The opposition denies widespread unrest, insisting that the rally was peaceful and that police used violence against protesters, not the other way around.
Corruption accusation
The probes are part of the largest crackdown on dissenters since 2012, when thousands of people protested against Putin’s return to the presidency after four years as prime minister.
More than 30 people were prosecuted in connection with the 2012 clashes and most of them were sentenced to prison terms of between two to three years on average.
This week, Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin thanked riot police for breaking up the rally and accused the opposition of seeking to stage a power grab.
“This is not Zimbabwe,” he added.
In a new investigation, Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Fund on Thursday accused the Moscow mayor’s first deputy of corruption.
The report alleged that Natalia Sergunina, 40, had sold Moscow property at knock-down prices to her close relatives.
According to the Anti-Corruption Fund, Sergunina’s family now controls property worth 6.5 billion rubles ($101 million) including a two-million-euro mansion in Vienna.
There was no immediate comment from Sergunina or the mayor’s office.
Sobol has called on Russians to take part in a peaceful “walk” in central Moscow on Saturday.
More than 17,000 people on Facebook have expressed interest in that rally despite the threat of new violence.
Liberal newspaper Vedomosti said that pressing ahead with the crackdown now would be more dangerous for the authorities than in 2012 as more people were prepared to take part in protests.
The newspaper urged officials to allow opposition candidates to run in the September 8 polls to defuse the political crisis.
The post Russian ‘mass unrest’ probe arrests five amid opposition crackdown appeared first on ARYNEWS.
