◇Masky/Tim Wright as a father figure to emo/scene teenagers◇

-He never thought of himself as the fatherly type considering all his addictions and his past with the Operator, but he found out that he WANTED to try his best to be a role model after meeting these kids.

-Actively doesn't abuse any substances around the kids as he doesn't wanna normalize it for them.

-He is so supportive. (Even if he can be a little aloof sometimes)

-Tim listens to some emo bands (I think he'd like Good Charlotte and Three Days Grace most) but overall never got super into the style side of the subculture.

-So he's completely facinated when the kids show up with racoon tail hair and gel spikes, hed seen kids back when he was a teenager with the style and is a little amazed kids are still dressing like that.

-If any other kids were bullying his kids he'd scare them, Tim's an intimidating man normally so him appearing behind them or yelling usually does the trick.

-Now if any adults decided to be dicks.....

-He wants to be a good influence and despises what the Operator made him do in the past so nothing TOO bad would happen but they'll certainly get a bit "roughed up".

-Gets the kids old 2000s magazines to go through so they can learn more about what the subculture was like at its peak.

-Tim would absolutely dig up all his old CDs for ANYTHING relevant and play them on car rides. He struggles sometimes when the nightmares or intrusive thoughts hit hard so sometimes a car ride with loud music and singibg teens is just what he needs.

-Road trips and stops by Gas station fast food places are a VERY common occurrence.

-Asks them to do his eyeliner (It becomes a regular occurrence since it hides his bags a bit and he pulls it off VERY well)

-Cannot dye hair, will offer to help if the kids are struggling but its a bad idea.

-Constantly reminds the kids to wear heat protectant when straightening their hair, will even buy them wigs if their hair is getting too damaged.

- "You can't dye your hair green if you have no hair left kid"

-Fucking despises shopping because of the crowds. He's been wearing the same old jackets for forever because "They work".

-Despite this he'll still try and come along for the kids, maybe stand a little suspiciously in a corner of the shop until they're all done.

-Takes the kids out to all the concerts in the area (mostly sneaks them in ngl hes not a bad influence but hes not the best one either)

-Likes how colorful scene clothing can be but does not get all the memes and subculture norms, dude doesn't have a social media.

-"What is XD and :3?"

-Asked if Invader Zim was a rat as a joke, this was followed up with all the kids and Tim binging all the episodes with the kids (he ended up enjoying it).

-The more time he spends with them, unknowingly he starts to see them as his own :)

INFODUMP TIME: SINF EDITION

SO. This is a series of 6 books that I affectionately call the Modern Fantasy Mythological and Historical Real Person Fiction series. And it's accurate. Very accurate.

I'm emo about it every day and I once scared kya by reblogging something from his nlog onto my sinf sideblog and he didn't know it was me. It's such a batshit crazy book I read a lot of batshit books, okay.

But one of the things about it is that people use magic by using their auras, something many folks irl have heard about. Auras and vibes and energies and such. In SINF you have a finite amount of aura you can use before doing magic consumes your physical body instead. Depleting your aura is BAD. You need to rest if you do, or if you get severely injured because your aura automatically tries to heal you regardless of if there's any aura to heal you with.

Auras come in a few different forms and MILLIONS of colors. They also have unique smells, and although you can technically change it, you have an original scent that is yours exclusively. (The bad guys in the series are extra as FUCK and make their auras smell like rotten meat and stuff. Drama queens.)

There are 3 auras that are the most powerful, but one type of aura trumps them all. Those three are Gold, Silver, and Black. Gold and silver are rare as fuck, and the twin teenaged Main Characters of the series have those colors naturally, and in the purest form. But we never quite hear about anyone who has a black aura, and the one time I recall it mentioned (it's been a while since I read them) it's just....implied. And then we NEVER hear about black auras again, despite apparently being a huge cog in the wheel that makes up the magic of this world.

HOWEVER. You know me. You know that if I have wiggle room, then I will ponder. And I don't just have wiggle room with the concept of black auras-- i have a fucking warehouse.

And so, middle school Marcel began to think-thonk. And I've been think-thonking for a decade now.

The legendary twin auras of pure gold and silver are representative of the Sun and the Moon in SINF. They literally ARE those things. Others can have (and have had) pure gold or silver, but they weren't as powerful because they were twins. They weren't the Sun and Moon. So it stands to reason that a black aura would have some celestial symbol as well, yeah?? But what? Now originally I assumed it might be an eclipse. But the black aura is an independent concept, unlike the Sun and Moon auras which depend on each other to keep balance across the multiverse (yes there's a multiverse in SINF. Don't worry about it.) So now what?? What is something in astronomy that is associated with darkness and doesn't necessarily have something else to balance it?

That's right. A black hole.

How would that work, you may ask? How does an aura, which already consumes itself and then its bearer even when it's normal, somehow function efficiently when it mimics a fucking BLACK HOLE. Well boy do I have the answer for you 🫵🏼

It lays dormant, but when ignited, can only take energy from auras around it. This bitch will consume SOMEBODY ELSE in order to power itself. And it's hungry.

What does a black aura look like?? Uh well. I actually headcanon that it's colorless. Invisible, even, except for a faint disruption around its bearer, much like how stuff bends around an actual black hole. Auras can only be used when someone is Awakened, but black auras can Awaken someone nearby who previously was not, just to start sucking up their aura juice for magical purposes.

Really eldritch of me, I think. I definitely have an OC with a black aura and she's everything to me.

I love how middle-schoolcel took the most edgelord of books and made the most edgelord of OCs out of it. Fantastic. Glorious. Sometimes you just need to satiate the inner teenager.

The idea of auras being the source of power is actually really interesting, to be honest. But having the main characters be extra special gold and silver aura teenagers and the bad guys smell like rotten meat and there's an extra-special black aura we never hear about is also hilarious.

I am a SIMP for every single one of them. Hear me out: a guy/girl/entity who can speak like 22 languages, knows almost all of history + the secret magic history of Elders and other fictional beasts (bonus points if they lived through it themselves), they're probably a renaissance man (gender neutral) which automatically makes them the hottest person alive. Like. Would you not marry someone like that on the spot???

I will make an exception for Gilgamesh tho 💀 that dude is just bonkers. And also Will (sorry Shakespeare simps T-T ) because that dude never showers. Probably historically accurate but that's not what I read SINF for

24. What would you tweak about the series or plot?

That part where Sophie and Josh time travel to Danu Talis. Why is no one talking about that giant ass time-travel plot hole???? Time travel is an immensely complicated thing and it's just so so hard to pull off because everything that happens in the past inevitably affects the future. And just think about how Josh ended up.

Like... First, we find out that there is a mysterious dude named Mareythu and he apparently orchestrated the entire thing. This dude eventually leads Josh and Sophie into a situation where they destroy Danu Talis, and that's how JOSH becomes Mareythu, the guy who orchestrated the entire thing. Now, my question is -- where did the old Mareythu go????? Did I miss something in the books??? And just the fact that at some point there were two Joshes (because Mareythu and Josh are the same, it's just that Mareythu is Josh but from the future who can time travel and he went to the past) is inconceivable to me. But that aside, after Mareythu leads Josh to become Mareythu (indirectly), where did the original Mareythu go??? Did he just... Disappear? Did he die? And no one is talking about the tragic fate of Josh who was doomed to become Mareythu. This literal child will have, through the centuries to come -- he will literally have to orchestrate the ENTIRE original Mareytu's plan all over again because he IS the Mareythu now. And thus, Josh is doomed to have to set up the entire thing all over again... And if Mareythu actually died when Josh became Mareythu, that makes it so tragic. Because, he is now doomed to orchestrate the entire thing, knowing that it will end up in his death, but he HAS to do it because he needs to protect the world as he knows it, he NEEDS to maintain the timeline HE HIMSELF comes from!!! Do you undersTAND ME??? Also, if the OG Mareythu didn't die and just... Idk, went somewhere... I am baffled by the possibility that there is an infinite amount of Mareythus just out there somewhere. Did I critically misunderstand something??? I can't do this anymore next question

Ahh, Scatty, my first love 🥰 I am absolutely convinced that everyone who read the SINF series had a Scathach simping phase. I had it, you had it (don't lie to me, I know you had it. I am convinced), my friend to whom I frantically summarized the whole plot but never read the books had it...

Anyways, here's the list!

Scathach personally invented Pekiti-Tirsia Kali. That is so her in my opinion

She committed a war crime at least once. But it's fine because the thing probably wasn't considered a war crime back then /j

Even before she and Aoife had that critical fight over their mutual love interest, they used to bicker a lot (as sisters do <3)

She knows how to fight with every single weapon. Every single one. And she has mastered it.

She swears a lot (when nobody is around)

26: What is a Black Aura headcanon of yours?

I haven’t ever really thought that much about them to be honest! But I think that they’d be some sort of powerful more than a pure aura but less than gold or silver.

13: How would you channel your magic? (Sigils, spoken spells, an instrument, an object, jewelry, another way)

So when I was reading the series when it was first published, I was also in the habit of writing on my hands and Comte Saint Germain and his butterflies deeply impactful. So final answer is something like that.

Here is a drawing that I finished yesterday of Ma-ka-tai-me-she-kia-kiak giving Quetzalcoatl a tattoo.

I thought that since Ma-k is/was a healer before he was immortal, it would be cool if he did another type of Indigenous medicine as well: tattooing!

It took me hours to design a sleeve for Ma-k, lol, but I am pretty happy with the result.

Hogwarts Archive: John Dee, headcanons

1. He’s a Slytherin with some hints of Gryffindor (Slythendor) He’s cunning but very impulsive, although he has a clear, big ass, classic Slytherin drive of self protection.

2. He has a familiar, a female cat who has pretty much his same temper, named Bess. She’s only her cuddling self when she’s with Virginia, who met the cat before meeting the human (Virginia makes flower crowns for the cat and calls her “the Good Queen Bess” and i have 0 regrets)

3. He was made Prefect, but he doesn’t really fancy it because it takes way too much time from his research

4. He has a pretty ambitious plan for the future, but his main, purest goal is to become a healer.

5. He isn’t widely liked, but he has a lot of acquaintances. Many find him threatening despite his low height. No one but Virginia gets away with flying colours after mocking that..

6. Hogwarts is his true home. Him being a wizard is not what his family had planned for his future, and he is really looking forward to move out.

2. How did you find the series?

I found it in middle school. For the Croatian class, the students had to pick a book of their choice, read it, and present it by the end of the month. Since a lot of people didn't know what book to read (me included) my Croatian professor compiled a list of suggestions, and SINF was on there. Since I already had those books at home (my mother borrowed them from her cousin) I just decided to read the first book, and then I ended up reading the entire series in a week's time... I never expected to love it so much <3

5. Which Elder/Dark Elder do you like most? Why?

I love Areo-Enap. She might be a spider but she's the best <3

30. General headcanons for asker's choice of character! (Character requested: Aoife)

She listens to Japanese metal

Really familiar with Japanese culture (because of Niten) and often wears traditional Japanese clothes, especially since they got married (And Niten probably does the same with traditional Irish clothing)

Every so often she dyes her hair. Her favorite hair color (besides her own) is blonde, but it just doesn't stick well on her hair and always looks a little shaggy

While she and Scatty weren't on good terms, she probably had a minor issue with someone who looks exactly like her wandering around the world, altering people's cultures

Also concerning the one above -- she probably gets very annoyed when someone mixes up the things she did with the things her sister did (and I think that it's actually canon in the books that humani often mixed them)

At some point, mortals definitely thought that she and her sister were the same person. Wouldn't be surprised

The three things above probably made her want to stand out more from her sister

Kuroo can shotgun a six pack of beer in a few minutes and barely be tipsy but a few shots of hard liquor he’s fucked. He can and will do the stupidest things while drunk. If he gets drunk with bokuto it is worse. They both are enableders when drunk so if bokuto dared kuroo to do a naked crab walk in down town Tokyo he would no questions asked. One time Akaashi found them standing on the edge of a roof laughing to each other. They made a bet about who can stand on the edge of the roof the longest without falling and cracking their head open. It was a three story house

The twins can’t grow beards. All they can grow are pathetic pedo stashes and it’s like awful to see them when they haven’t shaved in a while
