“Hey, gorgeous.’ Abel crooned to the brunette as he sidled closer at the bar, signalling the bartender. “We can have a wild night of it if you’d like.’

     It’s not that he’s unaware, but six sheets to the wind can erase a lot of things, and then there’d been that guy he’d found near the speakers who had sold him a couple of pills. God, he was feeling good, better than he had in years, and since Cain had been a complete dumb ass, staying up for eight days, there was no way he was waking up any time soon. 

     Still, there was no reason to dilly dally, green eyes bright in the neon light as he reached out to skim his fingers along the woman’s shoulder. She did seem familiar, but that could be anything. Someone Cain had fucked? Someone he had fucked? Well, he didn’t mind seconds, sloppy or otherwise. When she began to turn, Abel’s shoulders rounded slightly, managing to look less intimidating as he relaxed his body. Only to almost throw himself backward when he saw the woman’s face, feeling his whole body go through three different kinds of shock as he stared horrified at the woman’s face.

“Mother?! Aren’t you supposed to be...’ hands gesturing helplessly upwards, before running fingers along his throat. “Y’know... dead? Heaven? What are you doing here?!’

          Gabriel was not, strictly speaking, supposed to out and about in the world; but the current state of affairs had trouble brewing and attention well off the subject of where he was and what he was doing.  Which worked out pretty well for him as he first dipped his feet and then waded right in.   It was wonderful.  

          He just needed a way to get around without being the archangel Gabriel--it was too recognizable.   This was the problem he was contemplating when he spotted her, a familiar face in an empty expanse.  

          “Eve!”  There wasn’t much need for volume, but he projected his voice all the same.   He’d heard the news of course, the declaration that she was to be kicked out, that Adam was to remain, and all the tension that had spiraled from it.  Cracks forming in the family tree as Michael and Lucifer squared off and waited to see who would blink first.   Frankly it sucked all around.

          “What are you--I mean, did you walk all this way?  How long has it--How long have you been out here?”  His disorganized thoughts formed disorganized questions, none of it helped by how very pretty she was.

“You there!” Had the circumstances been any different, Augustus might have stopped to pay closer mind to the woman. The gentle lines of her.  Dark hair, supple, sweet, and nimble movements. Amidst the roar of rush hour traffic. How sark the contrast. 

“What are you doing?” Contagious ; the impulsive foolishness.  For he found himself inching closer. Then caution be dammed -  springing forward to her aid. “You could be hurt. Don’t move!”  He shouted out to her.           Could she even hear him? What was she doing?

A few more steps and he’d be able to reach her there, in the middle of those weaving cars all desperate to avoid her.

     Fuck it hurt, unsteady fingers wrapping around the hilt of the dagger he’d come around to find plunged into his chest. One, two- A harsh croak of sound escaped him as Cain yanked the blade out, feeling blood sluggishly seep out of the wound even as it slowly began to close. That was going to need stitches, though he wasn’t sure where the hell Abel had left him for dead.

     Blue eyes lifting, he looked around him trying to see a familiar landmark, a nasty taste of old blood and whiskey on his tongue. Tugging his shirt away from the wound, he staggered out of the alley towards the street, wiping his hand on denim jeans. There were a lot of people, but as long as he managed to keep his feet, everything should be fine.

“Shit, ‘scuse me.’ The wound in his chest screamed, even as he reached out to steady the person he’d walked into, before letting go to move around them.

      THE WOMAN WAS SWEET; ADORABLE EVEN AND ELLA WOULD BE DAMNED if she did not admit that she did not think Eve was not incredibly hot to go with everything else. Granted, this wasn’t their first kiss but, Ella had been so high when they’d kissed the first time that she wasn’t sure she should even consider it. Still, the petite brunette found herself with a quiet whimper leaving her lips as she melted against the other brunette; why did this happen whenever she kissed someone that was hot?   ---   At least Eve wasn’t a bad guy though, right?
