Ski Jumping Challenge - Day 1
Tell us a little about yourself and how you started to watch ski jumping
How much detail do i even go into?! I'm Eve, I'm 16 and from Scotland, and every time I see a post from an official Vierschanzentournee account online I briefly wonder if I was the one who made it. I started watching ski jumping at the start of the 2017 season, because @dioogoo convinced me to try it (mostly by means of Kraftböck photos from back in the day) and, luckily, I really enjoyed it! I spent the first two competitions like "oh my god there are 70 of them how will I ever learn all their names" and then a month later I knew them all by heart (although learning to identify them in their suits and helmets took until the end of December 2017, when I first got my glasses!)

Ski Jumping Challenge
Day 1: Tell us a little about yourself and how you started to watch ski jumping
Hi there! I'm Marilen, 18 years old and from Germany.
I can't quite remember the first time I watched ski jumping, because it's always been on TV from time to time, especially the "Neujahrsspringen" (is there an English name for it?). But I think I started watching it regularly and really getting into it at the end of the 2016/17 season on an originally quite boring weekend.
All my friends don't really understand how I can be so interested in such an, in their eyes, "boring" sport. But I was able to have some good conversations about it with my grandpa, who used to kill his time in winter by watching winter sports.
And of course I found the wholesome ski jumping family here on Tumblr, where I never thought sports was even a thing... but here we are, suffering together weekend after weekend.
Unfortunately, I've never been too close with any ski jumping accounts on here, but I just wanna say I love you all💕 I hope I'm able to get to know some new blogs and their owners throughout this challenge.
Love and cuddles, stay safe💕

❄️ Ski Jumping Challenge ❄️
Day 4 - Who is your favourite ski jumper and why?
🎿 Stephan Leyhe
Stephan is like the sun, always a smile on his face, lightening everybody's mood. He's nice, funny and positive at all times. He never puts himself down after a bad jump and focuses on jumping better next time.

🎿 Daniel Andre Tande
Daniel had such a development throughout the years and always tries his best. I nearly cried as well when he started crying at the FTH 16/17, it was so sad. But he didn't gave up and came back strong, which was amazing.

And a few other ones of my faves 💙

Day 3 - Describe the best ski jumping experience you ever had
World Cup in Oslo in March 2019. First winter comp I was to, by the way. Whole thing was a blast, getting to meet in person some of you, tumblr crew, watching dramatic Saturday sj and noco comps (and introducing @lewanarta to noco 😉), little sightseeing of Oslo…
Especially fondly I remember Sunday, March 10th. Between girls’ and guys’ comps we decided to go see the hill a bit closer and climb up the stands.

In theory, we did not have tickets for those better stands… but shhh
Nobody kicked us out, so we stayed and watched comp from there. And… aaah, seeing jumpers in the middle of flight, so close… Incredible. Clear blue sky, sun shining, so it was pretty warm (my fav got DSQ, but at this point I’m used to never be able to see him live performing well, lol), beautiful hill, amazing perspective to see jumpers from, sitting and sipping hot tea from thermos… Life felt great. And after the comp we went to see Mitdstubakken and got on top of it, getting stunning view on the city and bay.

When we got on the null I decided to slide on my ass from it 😆 Faster way of getting down the hill than stairs, but I ended up suffering when sitting for the next week 😂 No regrets tho, it was fun and an opportunity I couldn’t let pass. And only when I was watching the photos I took after going back home, I noticed there was “sliding down forbidden” sign 🙃

After all that we went back to the city and parted our ways seeing this view:

Day 9 - If you could choose one retired ski jumper to comeback, who would be and why?
That's a hard one. If I could, I would get back all the jumpers from my teenage time. 😂 Which would be Bjørn Einar Romøren, Roar Ljøkelsøy (well duh), Thomas Morgenstern, Janne Ahonen and who not. Too many to name 😂 But most of them ended a great career and best to leave when things are at their best, right? Someone who never really seemed to have gotten the chance is Kenneth Gangnes. And I'm glad I'm not the only one to think like that ♥️ He was so very unlucky and I'm glad he's got a job in ski jumping still. If I could snip my fingers and get him down that hill unharmed forever, I'd do it.

ski jumping challenge - day 1
Tell us a little about yourself and how you started to watch ski jumping
okay so. my name's jay n im 20 n i dont speak abt my country cus thats a bit gross innit. no thats not my real name n I've been told im, how to say that, chaotic, so just beware! im into a ton of sports and, unlike most of them, i have no clue how i got into ski jumping. tbh its just A Thing here and most people watch it at least recreationally sometimes, during the most important events at least. so i basically just Got Hooked and stuck with it, it was genuinely ages ago but still during every off season i forget what kinds of emotional bonds ive formed with these athletes i see on the tv so uh oh. this is a chaotic experience every time ig!!
i also think its worth mentioning that i have absolutely no tagging system so if you follow me for ski jumping only. Im So Sorry

Day 1 - Ski Jumping Challenge
The lovely @skijumping-is-my-aesthetics posted this challenge and it looked rather fun so here we go lads
The first question says to talk about oneself and how they got into ski jumping - so we're doing that.
I'm Levi, 17 going on 18 in January and I'm from Austria. I'm currently in my final year in highschool (very curious whether or not I'll handle it, given that from this week on I'll be in homeschooling again) and plan on getting a teaching degree for History and English afterwards. I'm a Hufflepuff and an ENFP. My sun sign is capricorn, my moon sign is taurus and my rising sign is virgo.
I've been watching ski jumping for as long as I remember, though thanks to my dad who's very into winter sports in general, so I grew up watching it with him. I've only started to not only watch the competitions but "dig deeper" if you want to say so in the 2017/18 season (I think right after Bad Mitterndorf).

Day 4- Who is your favourite ski jumper and why?
Well, it's really difficult question, because is many ski jumpers which i like and choose one of them is so hard.
But I must to say that my favourite ski jumper is Daniel-André Tande. Why? Because my adventure with ski jumping started exactly thanks to him. I have a great fondness for him. He is very important person in my life. I can learn lots from him. He impresses me his mental strength and the fact that despite many problems and difficulties in life, he doesn't give up and always gives his best.

I wouldn't be myself if I stopped there. I must say about other guys.
Another important person for me is Stephan Leyhe. Just thinking about him makes me feel better. I love his smile and I have never seen more beautiful. He is so cute and pretty, no matter if he smiles or pretends to be angry. And with Andreas, they make up a harmonious couple and are so so sweet.

Also I like Karl Geiger so so much. He has beautiful eyes, smiles and cute curly hair. He alveys make me feel better. I'm impressed about his diligence and his amazing disposition on the Normal Hill.

In conclusion, I will also mention that I love Simon Ammann, Robert Johansson, Peter Prevc, Gregor Schlierenzauer, Andreas Wellinger and Richard Freitag too.

Ski Jumping Challenge - Day 6
Have you ever been to a competition? If yes, describe a little your experience, if not, what competition would you like to attend?
I have not :( I think an Olympic competition would obviously be amazing (could the Tumblr ski jumping family take a trip to Beijing 2022 together?!), but I’d also love to go to Planica or to one of the 4HT competitions. Also, Sapporo seems super cool!

Day 10: What is in your opinion the best ski jumping meme?
Honestly, Werner Schuster has always been the best meme material, in my opinion.
Allow me to present you a little excerpt from his art:

Day 16- Tag someone you would like to go to a competition with
First, I'd go with someone who hasn't Tumblr (I think). I wanted to go to an competition with them but then covid happened.
Here on Tumblr I don't really know, as I'm a shy person and I'm not that close many here. But I'd like to go maybe with @fht-drawings and @yukiyasatos 👉🏻👈🏻

Day 1 - Tell us a little about yourself and how you started to watch ski jumping
Well, hello there, I’m Zosia, 26 y/o from Poland 😊
I started the same way as most Poles of my generation – in 2001, my first memories of ski jumping being Małysz’s win in 4HT 2000/01. But that’s not what brought me to fandom here, on Tumblr. It started with depression I had in early 2016. Ever since I began recovering from it, I’ve been finding joy again in things that I liked as a child. One of those turned out to be ski jumping. To name the very moment, it was 1st January 2017. I’ve been spending New Year’s Day at my friend’s place, after celebrations I had a little hangover. I ended up watching TV with her mother. Polish house, New Year’s Day, what else could be on? Ski jumping, 4HT, Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Until that day, I haven’t really watched sj for like 6-7 years. Yet, as I was watching, familiar names started to pop up. Name of location clicked immediately – I could recite it no problem. I stayed until the end of a comp, remember it was Daniel who won it, with Kamil right behind him (also imagine my surprise when learning there’s not one, but three members of the Prevc family in one comp 😂). Innsbruck I wasn’t watching – friend’s mom felt however sj sparked my interest and told me the results. Bischofshofen I followed on my own – via text transmission – didn’t know you could watch it on TVP Sport’s site back then 😅 For a month I lived like that and then found not-very-legal stream of Eurosport – for a different reason than sj, but with my dumb luck, the next thing transmitted after what I was watching, was sj, this time Oberstdorf. And what a meme fest that was! Paper planes, waiting game, Robert Lewandowski coming and what not. I am hooked ever since and hardly missed any competition. Fandom on Tumblr I discovered the week Sapporo 2017 was. Oh, and right before Planica 2017 the streaming site was taken down and I moved to legal Eurosport 😂
Was supposed to be “a little”, is not, I had a lot to say, enjoy 😘

Ski jumping challenge Day 1 ⛷️❄️🏔️
What a great idea 😍 @skijumping-is-my-aesthetics
Tell us a little about yourself and how you started to watch ski jumping
I'm Melanie, short just Mella, 32 from Germany, but living in Finland. 🇫🇮♥️
I started watching skijumping when I was about 14/15 years old, since my parents where fans. They did support the finnish team. I wasn't into skijumping first and actually got quite annoyed at my parents for watching it every weekend, while I wanted to watch something else 😂 So, to spite them and rebel a bit, I started supporting Team Norway, since there was this big rivalry between them and Finland back then 😂 But of course it didn't stay that way. I actually really got into the sport. By now I'm the online one in the family watching skijumping. It's a fun memory and to this day I'm mostly Team Norway. 17 years and counting 😃
